I liked it, but yea, doesnt have the flare of say Mort but I love all of Pratchett's books. Going to borrow nation from my uncle when I get the chance.
Reading Ed Macy - Apache at the moment. Non-fiction about an ex-British Army Apache pilot, loving it...recommended read and I'm only quarter of the way through!
The ATI 4890 is a better card and you can pick one up in the UK for roughly the same price so I would check that out
If you are using the computer for gaming I would price up how much it would cost for a phenom II tri core maybe quad core, AMD processors are still excellent for gaming, and you might be surprised to how much you can pick them up for. It will probably be more than your 850 but it all depends on how much you want to spend.
If you do want the computer for gaming then a dual core CPU at the same price (about an E8400) will be better. The cores are clocked higher and most games do not make use of more than 1 core at the moment.
this is what I am going to do tomorrow, the 3 month subscription. TBH with hours I work...its doubtful I can spend much time on it...and it seems like you need hours on it to progress....but we'll see.
Also Migz that tune is amazing, this one sounds similar with the styling of the vocals, but its just more hardcore check it out Counterstrike - Can't let go (TZA Remix) yarr!
This thread is just randomness, I'm rather addicted to drum and bass and some of the genres related to it (that mostly equal sub genres, which I find pointless) and have been for quite some time.
Its just a thread to share dnb songs that got me into drum and bass into the first place, you never know, this genre might grab you too So let me know what you think
I have been looking around for my first car, cheapest I have found is a 1999 1.2 fiat punto at £650, insurance TPFT at £1200, but it will likely go down abit as I won't have passed my test till I am after 21.
I would recommend an ATI 4890 instead, they are cheaper than the GTX275 and pretty much on par with it in terms of performance.
You don't really need an aftermarket/third party cooler if your not looking at overclocking.
DFI boards are brilliant for overclockers as they practically have every setting you could wish to fine tune it, if your not going to be doing this then I would recommend a Gigabyte or Asus motherboard. I would also look at getting a P45 motherboard,
As for the processor, if your mainly going to be gaming go for a dual core, not a quad core. Most games at the moment don't make use of multi-core, something like the E8500, which is an excellent gaming CPU and the same price as the Q8400 you chose. Reason being the cores in the dual are clocked higher than the quads.
If the website sells them, I would very much recommend a 640GB Western Digital Black harddrive, these things are quick, quiet and very reliable.
Memory is pretty much weighing up the numbers, but I would recommend OCZ memory, they tend to be cheap with low timings and decent frequencies, so definately check them out if the website stocks that brand.
As for the PSU, I would really recommend a more expensive one. For the parts chosen a 550W will be a safe bet. Go for a relatively cheap one, possibly Akasa or again OCZ.
The case is a good choice, maybe to save money the Coolermaster Storm Scout.
EDIT
Oh yea and as Jakg said, the sound card is a bit meh. To be honest unless your finicky with sound, on board tends to be more than good enough.
Maybe, just 750 is a safe bet. The case has 6 fans, there will be 3 HDDs in it in total, and I'll also be overclocking. When I get a new video card I may get crossfire too, so its just there for being there's sake.
I'm upgrading (will be buying in roughly 3 weeks), taking my xfi card...BFG 8800gtx and optical drives out of this machine, everything else is being replaced...how do these parts look?
Accurately we're all the same there abouts, its not the fact that I'm failing....we're all in the same boat. The company I work for is only 9 out of 10 competitive.
I wouldn't say I hate my job, but I just thought I'd rant about just how it is...
I do telesales, and I sell motor insurance mainly. Its not the best job in the world, but hey...at the time I needed a job really badly they took me on, trained me and what not.
However I keep getting looked down on by my seniors/managers, because I...funnily enough, cannot sell a car insurance quote that's twice the price they have already been offered, with the same benefits. Our niche market so to speak is students/post grads/teachers, yet even when these people call, we are more expensive...so how the hell...can I sell insurance to people like you or me, when we are way more expensive?!?! arghh! I keep wanting to say to them...maybe you need to do market research and model the prices so they are not based on everyone driving their car blindfolded and with a heavy injection of steroids!
I used Vista and and Windows 7 last night, both new installs and ran some games off a separate disc. I get more fps on Windows 7, and it generally seems a whole lot faster, and polished compared to compared to Vista.
There's one thing I will definitely recommend on the HDDs and thats buying 2 Western Digital 640GB Caviar Black HDDs and putting them in RAID 0. This (if you don't already know) 'stripes' the discs, so it uses them in sync doubling read/write/bandwidth etc without the loss of space. The drives themselves are cheap, very quiet and very fast to start with. And I think 1.28TB of space will be easily enough
