This mod (and realF1 I scouted on youtube) makes me want to buy rFactor...

The RO website details that the offer is because of the release of a mod lol, and yes theres a few mods for it but I havent tried them.

Also you may be lucky, I think Steam operates off PDT, which should hopefully give you another 7 hours to buy it.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Bought. Waiting for me to get home to DL it fast.

You wont regret it for $5 tbh, even if the game is painfully fustrating at times. I guess you'll get that with any games designed to be realistic.

The good thing about is the players...I've had the game for almost a year now and used to play it when it was a free mod and if you are looking for players that work as a team RO tends to be a good attraction to the organised team play. The only problem with them is they tend to speak in Russian or German......so just be good at interpretation.

Quote from BullHorn :Yeah, that, and Insurgency fails.

If I were that cheap, I'd rather wait for Hostile Intent: Phoenix Rising, but it'll probably going to be horrible just like Insurgency.

Maybe Operation Flashpoint 2 will revive the dying breed of FPS simulators.

Anyhow, RO is good for those 5 dollars.

RO is amazing mate What can you expect from what was originally a UT2k4 mod...

Red Orchestra is like....$4.99 on Steam till June 9, its a bargian! Buy buy buy.

Its a WWII eastern front 'simulation' fps, no crosshair, big maps, machines, realistic ballistics and slow gameplay for some true teamwork.

Highly recommended for that price...

I am going 2GB after reading more about what you stated so thanks for the heads up actually.

I changed where I am ordering from completely after finding ocUK have a better selection of gamers hardware, and the cost of my current basket is £420 with delivery/VAT.

So after more extensive research;

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ ... duct.php?prodid=CP-192-IN
E8400 (dual core 3GHz, new 45nm CPU). This is apparently better for gaming than the Q6600, and should overclock like a charm on air coolers, its just a shame they dont have OEM.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ ... duct.php?prodid=HS-017-AR
Thats the cooler I will be getting. I cant say anything bad about arctic cooling, been using em for a while now...cant fault them. This seems to be a favourite ammong the overclocking community too.

Have to get an Nvidia chipset mobo just to leave that SLi feature open, plus I have this strange theory that nvidia GFX cards perform better on nvidia chipset mobos, but thats me being hypothetical, but still feels better to go hand in hand.

Even though the 'Striker I' from reviews seems to perform better...the 6 series chipset (this is 780i) apparently has problems with the new 45mn intel processors.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ ... duct.php?prodid=MY-089-OC
Finally the memory which I am hoping will work with this motherboard, havent had problems with OCZ/ASUS in the past and this is the fastest DDR2/1150MHz ram I found on ocUK (5-5-5-18 timings). ASUS used to have a ram compatibility section on the support section, but I cant seem to find it anymore.

Anyway I am going to be ordering this in the next 3-4 days, so any last minute advice is appreciated.

Yea I agree with moose, a good 500W+ PSU is great. I am using an 8800GTX, with 4 ram sticks, and 2 PCI cards, and my Antec NeoPower 550W handles it just fine.

A good PSU such as mine is more effecient and saves money on the electric bill.

Also as moose said, read reviews on the PSUs beforehand to see if they hold stable 12V rails.

Quote from Bob Smith :Pah, I just bought a 32" S-IPS panel, now that's more like a TV in size.

(in fact it is a TV panel, proper 16:9 ratio too)

Forbin - higher refresh rates should come in due course. I can't think of a technical limitation. Of course the general public won't care as there's little in the way of flicker, so there isn't much to market such a device with.

How much did that cost?

I dont think you can share the connection without a router, at least as far as I know (not really got much of an idea with networking), if you want to go on the internet with your PS3 just disconnect the ethernet from the PC and put it in the PS3.

Quote from sgt.flippy :When Tsjernobyl exploded, the first nuclear bits were found in Sweden. It might not have a lot of effect, but it's there.

Yea some nuclear dust reached as far as the UK from the Chernobyl disaster, but its not too deadly, however you do need to clean it up asap or it will have a large negative impact on the ecosystem, where ever the nuclear dust is absorbed into the ground.

Quote from Migz :what if they underprice it?
iAyeYetAnotherUnderpricedPieceOfCrap

They are? well maybe the ipod touch and the iphone, but all the other ipods defintly are not... people arnt judged on wether they have a normal ipod or a mp3 player....

My experience tells me that the Creative Zen is much better, and that people with Ipods tend to have both a nano and a normal ipod, and always want to buy the latest one, like a fashion trend, where people want to wear whats in...fashion.

I'm probably being a bit short sighted but I guess I prefer quality and performance over looks

Dont like the 'i' range of products, they are no more than fashion accessories, ecspecially the ipods.

Simply the 8600GT and 9600GT are only for casual gamers, people that arent bothered much about stable and quality graphics. The size of monitor you picked too will have a screen resolution too big for the #600gts.

My recommendation is at least an 8800GT.

Quote from Gills4life :The game is free .. i thought the thread title would give that away
I did buy bf2142 but i rarely ever played it. It was a game set like 140 odd years in the future and games like that dont really interest me. I preferred playing Bf2, although i know there are many bugs and glitches in the game. I'm not sure i would like battlefield as much without the funny glitches in the game.. they kind of make the game more memorable and recognisable.

As a free game though Bf Heroes does look a hell of a lot of fun and it looks a right laugh so i will definitely be giving it a go. if it is crap then it dont matter because its freeeee

Sorry I didnt mean to put 'buying' it

What I meant to say is, I am not sure something with the EA logo will ever be completely free.

Quote from Gills4life :cya on there some time then i got you on my ps3 friends btw .. i'm Camtoo

I hope it will be good, DICE though arent in my good books since BF2142 failed to work on patch 1.4, and when I got it working after it took them 6 months to diagnose a common problem with the X-fi soundcard, patch 1.5 has just been released and its back to not working for some reason.

The thing is with BF games, is they are horribly coded, and if BF:Hereos uses the same or similar engine to the previous BFs then I wont be buying it from experience that it will be buggy and irresponsive. Also if the game does well you just know you'll be spending £30+ more on stupid expansion packs.

Thats the mobo I am using right now on a 939 4200X2+, still playing anything I throw at it. Though the older stuff is a hell of a lot more expensive, compare DDR ram with DDR2 for instance.

If you can find a CPU and some ram cheap for it, then buy a midpriced graphics card it will still run todays games, but tbh you might as well spend that little extra and go all new. When I found out about the AM2 socket, I rummaged around the internet in search for a better 939 pin thinking they would be cheap as chips but none in stock anywhere, and the ones I did find were like double the price of the RRP.

Definatly would recommend you buying completely new gear, you seem quite happy to build it yourself and tbh for what you want to use your PC for you probably wont need to spend much.

Yea the graphics on RBR are mild, but the physics are the best I have ever experienced in a rally game.

Be fair, LFS doesnt look all that good either but thats not why we play it

Quote from NotAnIllusion :With the exception of Eve (and to a lesser extent, AO), I can't think of too many MMORPGs that don't fit this mould. Yes, it is a 'typical' MMORPG. It's like a souped up cross between GW, AC and WoW.

Eve is the only mmorpg I have ever subscribed too tbh. Still eve is a really bad game, its just has a good social backing.

Isnt this game the generic hit NPCs till you level up and do quests MMORPG? My friends are playing it now and they are on vent chatting about it.

I told em it sounds a bit ghey like WoW, they replied with....'Yea but it has more stuff than WoW'.

Immediatly I know I am not going to bother with this game
