Concord, how are you connecting to the internet? ADSL through a router?
Who is your ISP and what sort of connection speed do you get?
any wireless HW involved?
Does this happen at all hours of the day?
Anyone else on your network?
Any P2P programs or the like running?
I only ask as your problem might not be OS related.
George what does that pic have to do with anything on topic in this thread??
I agree Dawndusts post here is a little on the abusive side, however he's Canadionan what does anyone expect
If LFS becomes responsive again after a given amount of time, then I would agree it is the vista prob explained inthe link.
However I think gotspeed has to end the process/program to exit LFS is this the case gotspeed?
Why oh why do so many threads go the way of this one where people seem to drop in just to smap or abuse, try to read through the cruddy posts and stick to the problem
gotspeed when you unzipped fresh copy of LFS did you overwrite older version? or place into new folder?
I think its very hard to know if you have slight engine damage in some of the cars, in the XFG for example, one or 2 miss-shifts and you only notice the engine damage by its symptoms on performance (lower top speed/acceleration, higher laptimes) as opposed to actualy being able to hear it in the engine tone.
I think it would be useful to see an engine damage visual display, in with the F10 info, just like we do with the clutch temp.
1/ set up the thrustmaster normally, then plug in the Saitek, but leave it next to/behind your PC somewhere out of the way but close enough so you can put the pedals very close to the other pedals this way you will have 4 pedals to use this will give you some options as to what set you use for the clutch. ( I would turn off all FF effects to the Saitek )
2/ open the saitek wheel and remove all the parts you don't need (wheel/FFmotor/casing) then modify the circuitboard and cables you have left into a smaller enclosure, then open the pedals and decide what pedal you want for a clutch, adapt the pedals base (Hacksaw is good come on Tristan ;P) to fit nice and snug with the left side of the other pedals, hotglue it all in place and fire it up with some imagination you could use the remaining pedal(or just the pot) to make an E-Brake
3/ sell your current HW on e-bay and buy a G25.
Unfortunatly I dont think you will be able to just wire in the extra pedal to the thrustmasters control circuit as it probably won't support it in the firmware/drivers.
This is not a how to guide, and only open your HW if you know what you are doing as it will invalidate any waranty you might have, and may be non reversable.
Personally I wouldn't no
saying that Patrese gave no warning before braking, sounds strange to me because everyone knows theres a corner coming up, 150Mtrs sign goes whoosing past above everyone should have expected everyone else to brake.
Can a driver not take whatever line he chooses after he has overtaken someone? all drivers in this incident knew the brake point was looming, lots of people swerve infront after a pass then hit the anchors for the next turn, its maybe not polite, or a little agressive, but if your infront you have the right to any line you want, its the responsibility of the following driver to not rear end someone regardless of if he's just been overtaken, or if he's applying pressure to lineup or make a pass.
It is possible to be steering whilst braking, assuming you have analog brake pedal, I regularly drive off the track to avoid contact because I've pushed too hard and decided to put my car on the outside side by side in the brake zone, yes a silly thing to do If a driver sees that and allows room thats very considerate of them, if they allow me room at the exit aswell thats even nicer, but not expected in a competitive race situation.
After all is said and done, things happen in a split second, and unless drivers are constantly aware of where surrounding cars are, and thinking ahead about where they might be in the next second, racing incidents like this one will keep happening every day, and thats before you take lagg into account

@ Shadow: people dont just rate by your postcount the also read the constant drivel within most of them :J
Its a shame that I cannot install the historyX mod as you need rfactor + GTL lol .
never mind
Im checking the other links now thanks anyway

EDIT after some extensive messing around I cannot get RF to play ball I had 5000000 ($£ simolians whatever) and a fair few cars (under show owned) after installing Brands hatch I have only 3000 and 2 cars, I found out that minus FF settings felt better, but still cannot catch the spins properly, Ive zeroed speed sensitive steer and played with all the settings, couldn't even get brands it just loaded a default track every time pfft. Im not sure if I need to "upgrade" all the cars first to make them handle better? that can't be right lol.
My 1st impression of the full game is not good, it seems RF is not as user friendly as LFS and I give up on it for tonight. thanks again for all the tips I will try again another day .. It is a real shame about the historyX mod, as that was also want I wanted to try the most
Hello Niels/all, OK I have now got Rfactor special edition 2008 (given as a gift)
I am interested in finding some high quality mods and also a simple "how to set up wheel" guide (G25 user)
Where is the place you all get your mods?
What mods are considered good quality?
will these mod files auto install into the game or do I place them in a special place?
any other info on essential patches etc would be great.
please link me to correct place for this, if I have posted inthe wrong place.
Racing incident, Ring could have braked slightly earlyer and softer because of the traffic around , and Patrise could have stayed more to the right as he also knew 2 cars were to his left.
Ring was the driver that impacted into patrise (from behind) so if blame is needed then it goes his way.
The better driver was the black XFG of Rising who braked early enough to just drive by the 2 cars collecting each other

@Tukko, I'm pretty sure I am banned from redline (by choice from forum, as Ive never even raced there )
Accountants don't come cheap either
Corperation tax has to be paid by the company and Income tax by the devs, or at least NI payments
Corperation tax used to be 19% (of profits) I think this went up to 20% couple years back (not sure tho)
Not sure about V A T especially as some of the company directors live+work outside the UK.
I would have thought Gereldene would/should be taking a wage also
