BigDave, I have the same problems as you when I first started G25 720 deg drifting few days back.

Starting the drift ain't difficult, but coming out from the drift/exiting the corner is the tough part. I assume the DFP wheel may not be able to rotate fast enough, so I'd suggest you to try drifting with lesser angle, just to get a better feel of the car, go slower, start your drift later than usual just so its easier to catch the slide, and end the slide.

After several rounds, you should have a better feel on how the DFP, from there you can start pushing on more and more.

It's frustrating at the start, but its possible with enough patience, a lot of focus, and practise.

I have to say I am a bit overwhelmed at how HARD the brake is, often times when I have to press it full, the whole platform even raises a few inch, well part of the reason is that I placed the pedals sorta tinted, guess I need a better platform that can hold my pedals better. Oh and shoes.

The shifting "clicks" sounds annoying, but it doesn't really affect me, the buttons on the shifter feels just fine for me, the paddles behind the wheel became pretty much useless when you're flicking the wheel back and forth so rapidly. Driving has never been so different and immersive in LFS with the G25.

The only disappointment is the lack of ebrake handle, now that my hands are full on the wheel, and barely on the shifter itself, I don't even have time to press any buttons for ebrake (the only way, sucks!)

Sam, anything that we can do to help?

It's taking a while now, I really like to see it back up again. I felt "homeless".

Heh, I've got my G25 today as well.

Everything feels amazing so far, comparing to my old and crappy Momo.

Finally some quality pedals, which I'll need some time to get used to, totally forgotten how to modulate the throttle ever since my momo's spiking issues... ah the pedals are simply awesome...

Tried several cars on car park as well as blackwood just to get an overall feel of it, everything feels great.

I'm more of a drifter myself, and man... whenever the slide is initiated, I've literally lost all control of the car... guess I have a LOT to catch up to.

Quote from jusho67 :hello! I need some help with a new wheel. also posted this in the TechnicalAssistance section cos i'm not where this should go.

just got a cheap wheel. cant afford anything more. its a P&D TransWheel by "Fly Eagle". got it off ebay first hand. Its probably made by some company in China. Pedals work perfectly only if throttle n brake axis are combined. the OEM driver hasnt got any calibration software. i cant use logitech drivers right? (the calibration n profiling software could solve this...i think)

it can only turn 180 degrees. got a major deadzone in the center, and at half the limits. means that LFS only recieves input after i turn the wheel 5 to 45 degrees. (instead of 0 to 90 degrees). this is also apparent in the windows control panel. i'm running winXP, so modifying the [default deadzone] wouldnt be permanent right? even if i wanted to try it i would know where this parameter is located. system.ini?

what can i do? already downloaded DXTweak2. dont quite understand the readme file. should i try using a negative minimum value, or make the center value closer to the max value? hope that makes sense.

can someone be kind enough to give me some pointers? thnx.

Peace,Love n Blessings,
Jus

oh dear, why buy such a wheel? is it really THAT cheap?

You could've chosen the Wingman FF GP, its a real cheap wheel (if you can afford slightly more, go for Momo Racing) and it has none of the issues above and you can apply the logitech software with it.

Quote from Glenn67 :Well at least 50% must be junk @%&$ emails In another 5 years we will need more powerful PC's not for new generation games, no! We will need them to filter and sort all our junk mail and then there is youtube and p2p, thats all of it

No wonder sometimes those little highly streamlined LFS packets have a hard time getting through, its because of all the slim and spam that clogs the net the wonders of modern technology huh illepall

/end of rant

hehe how about in another 5 years, a new kind of connection technology that's so fast that everyone around the world can have almost 0 lag in LFS, and its cheap!

....bah.. wonder when will that ever happen...

I think I have well over 10 or 20 more people into LFS.

Almost half of them have already gotten themselves S2 license, while others are still enjoying demo.

Though problem is, they can't really enjoy LFS "internationally" due to Malaysia's crap ISP. But I assume this could be solved when there's more LFS players locally.

Quote from Tweaker :The only two best driving games with good car feel for the console are PGR and Forza titles.

Have you tried Enthusia?

I've always think Enthusia was pretty damn good to drive in, feels great.

Quote from jankes :Ok I've done some extensive testing. I admit you're all right. Let this conversation conclude. LFS is accurate simulation and nothing is wrong with G25 FFB. The car will not recover itself when in race pace. I do have to do this by myself. Sorry for the frustration my insisting may have caused

We've all been clueless/silly before.

But we've all learnt from mistakes.

Though this sounds more like a complain thread regarding either LFS or the G25.

But in fact it just proves once again how great the G25 is. Can't wait till I get my hands on it hehe~

since there are many who experienced noisy sounds coming from the wheel while turning at one direction, im just wondering does it actually effect the "resistance" or "force" of the wheel?

I mean, Tweak used to said that its only the noise, doesn't really caused any extra resistance while turning and so on, if that's the case, I can live with that.

But like many such as Matrixi and Shotglass, the way they've described the wheel made really loud noises plus extra resistance for turning too, that definitely doesn't sound right.

hmm.. speaking of racing frames... I'm now thinking of self-built/customized racing frame/cockpit.

I'm sure some of the forumers here have made themselves some cool little frame for LFS-ing, would those kindly share some pictures of your setup?

I'm getting my G25 soon, I'm seriously thinking of customizing my desk to something more suited to the gear I'll be using.

Quote from three_jump :As long as there is no crack that enables you to play online we shouldn't kill anyone. Do you really think that always telling them "this is bad and you gonna burn in hell for this" is really going to change anyones mind?

Problem now is that they're able to play online, of course not on our main lfs servers, but they can somehow bypass it and get connected to their own private hosts through LAN.

Like I said, "that" community is huge, and they're able to get connected with each other and hang out in one server, and they have S2 content, they're basically having the same fun as us do, except for LFSWorld stats and not paying anything.

Quote from TKKN :Crack = you can't play online (excpet the demo servers) = boring

you'd be wrong.

There's a large... I mean, real LARGE community somewhere out there, and they're all using cracks.

Though there are still several S2 legal license holders, but majority of them are using illegal versions.

I'm still trying to convince them (though very slowly) in getting the real thing, just imagine if those number of players joined in, overflow!!

p/s: that community is BIG I tell ya, go figure.
