I've seen, heard and downloaded many types of customised Dumpvalves before, none of them really suit my taste, they're either too loud, too weird, and not to mention about the sound loop thing that spoils the feeling.
I forgot where I got this, but I remember it was back in S1, very long time ago, I can't remember who made it, but I've been using this dumpvalve sound since S1 till now, I'm not sure how you guys would like it or not, but it sounds great to me, and I'm loving it.
I suggest you change the title/name of your movie.
LFS: The Movie sounds like an official movie of LFS and it should feature some top notch racing footages in there, basically any good part of LFS should be included (on race tracks), not this "street racing with NOS, Fast and Furious style" kinda thing (though you are doing it on a LFS race track, but you're trying to imitate real life ILLEGAL street racing). It's a disgrace to LFS.
Not saying you shouldn't do this movie, after all its just for entertainment, but seriously, change your movie name to something else like LFS: Street Racing or something instead of "The Movie".
GaryArm, you can't really blame those people though. If you've been in LFS or this forum long enough. You'd noticed that almost half of the idiotic or bad threads/replies are posted by people that called themselves 'drifters', and yeah they like to brag about it, a lot.
These so called 'drifters' seem to have bad spelling, and they like to type in the 1337 way, and of course, they're rude and impolite, and they don't seem to be very bright/smart either. Look around the forum and you'll get what I mean, I wouldn't be surprise that the rest of the forumers are being so hostile toward drifters or any drift-related topics.
If you're really into LFS drifting and you want to meet some good people (or team), do come to www.lfs-torque.net, that's where you get to have some good/quality discussions about drifting and there's many great people there, most of the old LFS drift drivers hang around there. Do drop by and say hi.
I can do 5 laps, 3 first laps full throttling, last 2 laps I just have to be gentle and mostly 1st gear throughout the layout, the tires couldn't take it anymore after 3 laps full out. But 5 laps ain't much of a problem, just go slow and easy on throttle, still fun sliding stuff.
The layout is fun, but it gets boring fast, mostly slow to mid speed. Thanks for sharing btw.
I wonder if those credits would be of any real use when the official S2 is released.... maybe some little change in S2 or a little surprise where you can actually use those credits for "something"?
or will they just get rid of the credit system once and for all in final S2?
I tend to agree, destruction derby is fun once in a while, yet it gets bored really quick. There's not much satisfaction you get by crashing and rolling... flying or etc.... just a few laughs though
I would really like shifting animation to be included in future of LFS too.
I've seen many other games that has it, and they all looked pretty good, though the upshift animation may have slight lag, but it still looks very very nice from my point of view.
I play with in car cockpit view with the wheels on, if I shift and the hand of the driver in game reaches over for the shift stick, man that'd look damn cool! :P
budhacocha, to be honest I doubt S3 would be much different in terms of steering lock compared to now. You might as well get used to it.
there's plenty of real life drifters that still uses the "stock"/default steering lock (according to what Scawen said long ago, 36 degree lock is how it is at most street cars), only those professional fully drift tuned cars that has the wheel customised for extra steering angle (they aim for higher angle + speed).
To be honest I think you're just aren't used to it yet. It takes a whole lot of practise to do it right, don't forget it's just a game, so you need some getting use to unlike real life where you have G-forces to help you out.
I recommend you to visit www.lfs-torque.net if you have any problems regarding drifting, a lot of long time LFS drifters hang around there, and if you ever saw one of their replays, you'd be amazed at how they manage to perform those impressive slides with only 36 degree lock control. Good luck.
well using the handbrake in a drift is considered a skill too, handbrake's a tool, the tool is there (E-brake in LFS is pretty nicely done and I like it a lot) and if the driver's able to use it to improvise his drifting (sometimes even correcting errors) I think he's pretty good, IMO.
basically whatever you do in your car (I'm talking LFS, not real life), as long as you achieve your goals, that's skill right there. Even though I personally disagree with fwd "drifts", but I can't deny that there's plenty of people out there that can perform fwd slides pretty darn well, that is skill right there.
