Quote from Scawen :Even before the patch I had on my notes to disable this warning if the actual ESC key is pressed. But it was too close to patch day, and I knew there would be a complication, because the assigned buttons do a fake key press. Do you think it would be fine if the warning only came up if an assigned controller button to ESC was pressed, and not the real key? It is extremely annoying when you are jumped out of that screen by mistakenly pressing the controller button assigned to ESC, so there is a good reason for this feature.

Yes, I don't think anyone has ever pressed the Esc key by mistake in that screen. For the controller button it is nice to have it.

Quote from englishlord :I tried this with my G27. It detected it after I hit refresh but the wheel was near impossible to move.

One thing that would be nice would be the ability to calibrate a wheel, whilst on a server, without having to join first. Joining with an uncalibrated wheel has always caused it to go into a motorised spasm before shift + o is quickly entered. If you go to options when spectating, it is reading the input of the spectated car. Perhaps an option to calibrate the wheel from the pit screen/options button in the pit screen?

You need to Alt+Tab after detecting the wheel. The profiler doesn't fully load its configuration until a game windows gets focus.

If the wheel makes a sudden move it is because it is beyond the steering range. For me it happens if I have the wheel turned a lot, minimize the game and reduce the degrees in the profiler, returning to the game causes a spike in the FFB to force the wheel to enter the new range.
I don't remember having this issue caused by not cablibrating the wheel before.

I'm on your side, I just explained why it started happening now. I don't see exactly why it is really necessary, but as I don't tinker too much on that settings it doesn't bother me.

Quote from Nilex :There is a new and somewhat redundant confirmation prompt when trying to ESC out of Options->Controls menu. It looks like it is left there from internal testing or something. Definitely gets in the way of quick and minor control adjustment (after changing car for example).
It started to appear sometime after N3 test patch.

You can now assign Esc key to a button, the confirmation is to avoid exiting by just checking that button.

Check your view settings, maybe it's set to turn with the steering or with the joystick (new option in this patch).

Quote from BADLVBOY :Something is wrong with my handbrake controller (logitech attack 3) and i cant make it work, its stays "pulled" at the half.
tried to reconnect, changed axis, invert ... doesnt help
before update it was working without any problem and that yellow indicator wasnt in the middle as it is now (look in pic)

Set its range from -1000 to 0, or 0 to 1000, whatever fits you.

Damn, beaten by Scawen himself!

You are aware that having 2 buffered frames at all times is exactly the same as having zero but with a little delay, right?

Buffering 2 frames serves the purpose to use one if the one is rendering finishes too late. If it is not enough, then is your computer fault, LFS can't pull out frames out of the blue.

Quote from footstep :The automatic controller setup sounds very useful. Does this mean that LFS takes care about all the settings or are the suggested settings for the Logitec Profiler still needed/valid?

http://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Wheels#Correctly_setting_up_a_Logitech_Wheel

LFS now sets the button function, but for rotation degrees and FFB settings you still need the profiler.

Quote from cargame.nl :Sounds like the ban system can be abused and/or is abused. Create some servers ban a name offline on these various servers and it gets a global ban.

I've always thought that the player needed to be online to get counted as banned, but now that I think about it I have never seen info on this regard.

Not gonna test it by myself Razz

Quote from Scawen :Added left and right arrows to the "Look function" option

Much better IMO, even better than Flame's idea, as LFS does not open a drop down select.

A server can ban you up to 999 days.
You get a global ban if you are banned in several servers in a period of 30 days. I don't remember the exact number, it was something around 10~15 servers. You get a warning in the game and an email when you are getting close to that limit.
I guess you don't have to prove it, but play in servers that don't do stupid things like banning players without enough proof.

Quote from Flame CZE :Going a bit off-topic here, but maybe those types of buttons could have an arrow to indicate that it's a sort of a "dropdown menu"?

I actually really like that idea.

Quote from Scawen :I'm not sure what you mean. But the Look function is in the same place it has always been, at the bottom of the View Options page. Only now there is a new option "joystick" and the options are not squashed into one line, but selected in a dialog.

Same place, different appearance.

For me it was not clear at first that the 'steer' button was not only a label. In previous versions it was obvious that you had to choose an option.

Quote from MrSam :I have bl2/fz5, bl2/rac, bl2/lx6 and no estimate.

Oh, you are right. BL2 and those 3 cars are missing that information. I was testing before on BL1.

Quote from MrSam :This is not a bug but I think an oversight.
For LX6, RAC and FZ5 cars
In the pit -> info, there is no estimate of the consomation lap
Only for rallycross tracks:
BL2, BL2R, FE5, FE5R, FE6 and FE6R

You don't have laps with those cars in LFSWorld, do you?

The look function button wasn't obvious to me. Was looking for the 'steer' option for a while before trying to click it. Am I the only one?

(somehow i only searched for files named HEL*, like the helmet skin files..)

Well, you did the logical thing, not as the one who named the file xD. I edited that file years ago, so I was sure it existed somewhere hehe

Quote from teeembo :Just a personal thing I guess. I would appreciate it if there was a "stop" like most other 900 degree games.

But then you are talking about non 900 degree games. And there everybody agrees that a FFB lock is desired. LFS, as any other 900 degree game works like a charm.

I use 900 degrees in LFS, I want to use my full range when possible, for me it is more important than the wheel being synced.

I have set profiles in Logitech's software to set the rotation for RBR (540) and ETS2/ATS (900). In LFS I can't do it because this is varying per car.

Quote from teeembo :This is the reason I dont run LFS in 900 degrees - I find it annoying as you can get to the point where turning the controller has no effect in game.

That's a bit of BS, don't you think? Set "Wheel turn compensation" to zero and there you go. LFS works fine with 900 degrees, you just miss the wheel being in sync.

Quote from Degats :Speaking of, how hard would it be for LFS to implement a soft stop instead of freely spinning past the car's limit?
I know some other games do it and it's quite helpful to have the soft stops while spinning wildly out of control Wink

YES PLEASE!

Ideally it would set the degrees of rotation thought Logitech's API, but I still remember Scawen angry at Logitech for not providing any help on that matter years ago, so I understand why LFS doesn't have it Taped Shut

Quote from Scawen :
How it could work :

- X and Y axes are assigned
- A new "joystick" look function (probably default)
- Centre dead zone, nothing happens up to around 25% movement
- Moving stick to the edge in any direction will look that way
- Moving stick partially will provide an intermediate position

Forza (at least 3 and 4) works like this:
If you move the joystick left/right on X axis it turns the camera 90º and have plenty of "dead" zone so the camera doesn't move.
If you move the joystick any other direction it turns the camera the same angle of the joystick.

Number 1 is already possible, but it have to be implemented server side. I don't know if anyone have programmed it yet on a public server.

It is pretty easy to do it, really.

Go to Options->Controls->CTRL + (or ALT +), write "/shift s" and the assign a wheel button to it.

Adding to that, you could run a whole script instead of just an instruction by doing this instead:

Go to Options->Controls->CTRL + (or ALT +), write "//scriptname" and the assign a wheel button to it.
In LFS folder you'll find a 'scripts' folder, where you can create a script with several instructions as for example

/shift s
/say Sorry guys!
