Quote from DANIEL-CRO :What if he meant buggy (like software bug) ?

Did you even read the full sentence? I doubt he want to have bugs in the future.

The device must report the minimum and maximum value. This is why the wheel self-calibrate when you plug it in, but for the pedals it's needed to do it manually. iRacing probably remembers the maximum value from the last time you used it, but for many games you'll still have to calibrate the pedals manually.

You have to press each pedal to the bottom everytime you open a game. It is the shitty implementation that DirectInput has that forces you to do that day after day...

Quote from Live For Kill :I'm not sure about the majority, but personally I was a little disappointed in SteamOS. I do use my computer for gaming, but I do many other things with it, programming, writing, hosting servers sometimes (on LAN for example), and SteamOS by default doesn't really provide this, I have to install a lot of extentions that are provided on other Linux distros by default. Personally, I was looking for an OS that is better for gaming, but does not necessarily exclude everything else.

SteamOS is designed to play games on your living room, nothing more. It's not really intended to be a general purpose OS, so... you are right, for a power user it is not that useful. But it is interesting though, as it will push forward drivers, API and performance under all Linux distributions.

Lucky me, I love the shape of the old one, this one looks like shit (compared to the older, not that it's ugly by itself). Why does VW always turn perfectly fine bodies into a a thing that looks like a van (square, higher than needed, etc)?

Thanks Mysho, I hope that returning the vram speed to default clock helps to avoid the total failure.

If it breaks... it's a pitty. As I already would have to buy new MB, CPU, GPU and probably even a PSU I'm not even worried for a possible shortcut in the event of it blowing up or anything.

Quote from Mysho : put your GPU to microwave owen for a limited time, it's not a joke and it works sometimes

My brother put his laptop (motherboard only) in the oven to resurrect it, and it worked, though the computer was too hot and inestable to be used again.

It's an AMD HD5750, that was chosen with the help of the kind people of this forum. It is already lasting more than I ever expected, but once reached this point I'd like it to achieve the 4 years goal haha

Asseto Corsa's multiplayer should be what force an update, as currently my computer can handle it without crazy sttutering.

Thats my real concern, I sure don't want to see a part of my computer blow up (it's beeing a long time since the CPU died in a cloud of smoke :razz. On the other hand, losing that 20% OC will be a handicap too, but at least I would have money in my pocket xD

I'm running stock clock on GPU and GPU memory right now. Let's hope that it's alright now.

The OC is done via the driver. I formated my computer a month ago, so it had to re-do the OC stability test, but I can run stock clocks for a while. The only bad thing is that I don't know how much time I have to wait until I can afirm they are gone xD

Quote from Framaris :Just a little note about what you said, the Logitech warranty is 3 years!...European law says that all computer hardware have 3 years warranty, even if they say one year on the papers you get!

Sadly since you've opened it already I am too late...

Are you shure? I have never see that law ever before, and kinda doubt that precisely electronics get more warranty than other things.
Artifacts on desktop
Whiskey

It's been a while since I' started to see (sometimes) artifacts in Firefox (small colorful blocks), and I thought it was Firefox itself the culprit. But I have just say the same thing in the desktop, so I am a bit more worried now (see attachment). It does not happen that often, but I guess even if it happens once in two weeks I should keep an eye on it.

I've noticed another weird thing recently, but I can not confirm it. While I'm playing LFS (and today Minecraft did something similar) I get an extrange frame, like the camera is moved to the rear of the car. I'm in the FO8 and suddenly my vision is blocked, as when you try to look back in a single seater. But as it is only 1 frame I'm not able to see what happens exactly.

How worried should I be if I see artifacts in my screen? Should I expect it to get worse? (I can live with these funny friends for now)

My GPU is 3 years old, and has been working overclocked for at least 1 year. It peaks at 76º, the fan speed dos not raise beyond 50%. So this I feel that this is not related to the problem, but it's indeed worth mentioning.

He says something about not having other car skins auto downloaded, as it would need a central server. Does he tell any date or schedule for this?

We are all doing an intensive italian language course right now xD

Quote from kludermor :You are all wrong

The Oculus Rift is the only way to play race sims.
[...]
You will all be buying this soon. Trust me

Yes*. It is the way to go, but Oculus is not yet ready to be considered the main option. And you need a monitor anyway, I don't think the day that you can use confortably the Oculus for browsing folders or internet is anywhere near

Sure. I have already stated that several times in this forum, but as I said above, the dev kit is not appealing to everybody, we have to wait to the "finished" one (Crystal cove or whatever they come up with).

Quote from vladvlad :Hopefully windows 9 will be good. Microsoft tends to follow the one good/ok os and then a totally shitty one pattern. Seeing as 7 was still ok despite its problems and windows 8 being criticised almost unanimously I can just hope that 9 will be good(and I really hope they get rid of that metro thing, at least for the PC version...)

I've always agree on that opinion, but since I installed Windows 8.1 I can only regret for not having upgraded earlier. Maybe the bad was 8 and the good 8.1, but that would leave as expecting 9 to be bad again xD

Quote from DarkKostas :I just noticed that! Happens only on RB4 and only at Garage(and entry screen)

It's fine for me. Maybe you should try to reinstall it and see if it persists.

I know the dev kit is ok-ish, but I can wait to buy it (plus I would need a whole new computer :schwitz until the 1080 version. Crystal cove looks like it's gonna be 10x bettet than the already awesome OR.

Once I make my final decision on when to buy it all, I'll look much closer at the actual needed specs.

Thank you very much for the explanation. I've read the thread, and see that many others also pointed out that the key factor is the FPS. So... this could probably be a factor when I upgrade my PC, as I'm pretty sure that eventually I'll have an Oculus (not the devkit).

No_Quarter, you are not the first one that comes here saying the very same thing you said. So clearly LFS has great potential to impress people using the Oculus.
But I have a doubt: is LFS that much better and well done than other games, or are the other games the ones that are poorly adapted?

You know, sometimes computers do weird things. Glad to see that your problem is sorted

By the looks of the image, go to LFS' settings, and change the mip bias of the text to a value that looks ok to you.
Whiskey

Implementing Oculus support, or multi-monitor settings does not break compatibility with people that don't have the hardware. Switching to DX10/11 would make the game unavailable to anyone stuck in XP.

Would you drop steering wheel support because not everybody has one?

It looks to me like your DDS setting in the driver was changed to performance instead of quality.

Load a track, select chase cam, enter the menu, and then Views. The last option reads "Fixed to front axle", set that to no.
