I see you're in Torino (or Turin, as we like to call it over here) so my advice would be, find a shop (there must be at least one in a big city like Turin), and have a play with all of em, see which one you like best. It's how/why i went for an iphone over a new smartphone.
However, i will say, i used to use an external ui called Pointui on all of my smartphones, and the general consensus on their forums was that HTC are the best.
If it was me ? i think i'd go for the HD mini. It's a cool looking little thing, and i've heard both good and bad things about that magic mouse light thing on the Legend, but it just seems a bit of a faff to me. And surely the beauty of these touch screens is they're meant to be finger friendly, so a little magic mouse might sound like a neat idea, but, just like the slide-out keypad, i'd probably never use it.
I believe Tristan's family own's approximately 3/4's of Norfolk, so he should have a spare field or two lying around somewhere - probably in a field. Unfortunately, it is Norfolk, so it'll be full of turnips and Polish immigrant farmhands, so it may not have the visual impact we're after.
However, it could have a hidden punchline "LFS - turn up and race"
Oh yeah, if you make the mistake of being in the outside lane going past Wetherby, then realise you need to stay on the A1(M) to avoid Leeds, you'll soon find yourself having to battle through at least 4 lanes of traffic. It's a chuffing nightmare during rush hour, especially if you're driving a big panel sided van with no back windows.
Mind you, it's a damn sight better than it was. There's still a stretch of the old A1 between Scotch Corner and Dishforth and I always breath a sigh of relief when i've cleared the Leeming Bar junction without having a massive multicar shunt. Nasty little loop in the road with a very very short slip road on the left that you only see at the very last moment. Plus, on other stretches you've got cars crossing the road from either side and others pulling out from the central reservation. And, it used to be like that all the way down to London, except, south of Leeds there'd be a roundabout every ten or twenty miles. Makes you wonder how we ever got anywhere alive, and on time.
Bit of local knowledge from someone who's (had the misfortune) to drive up and down that stretch of road (many, many more times than i would have liked) for the last twenty years or so.
It used to be nothing more than a dual carriageway all the way from Newcastle down to a big roundabout on the M62 (turn right for Leeds, go straight over for the old A1 and Doncaster etc, and turn left for Hull - although why anyone would want to go to Hull is beyond me - anyway). The Wetherby bypass in particular was a really nasty little stretch of road, very narrow, with quite a sharp and dipping turn, which simply couldn't be taken at speed, anything over 70 had you face first into the wall.
But now, that whole stretch has changed beyond recognition. In the space of about ten miles or so, it changes from a fast flowing dual carriageway into a six lane mega motorway. An extra lane is added on the left after various junctions, and it then eventually splits into two three lane highways (one goes off to Leeds, the other heads south to the M18 and Sunny Donny.
So, it's my guess the lorry driver was on the inside lane originally, but suddenly found it had become a middle lane after a junction. Then realising he was moving slower than the traffic on the 'new' inside lane had a quick check in his mirrors, saw a gap, and moved over (this is probably where he collected the Clio). Then, further down the road (probably only a couple of minutes or so) as it gains another new lane or two from the left, he finds the lane he's now travelling in has again become one of the middle/outer lanes.
Or, as BBT has said, and anyone who's driven a real car on a real motorway will tell you that changing lanes requires virtually no steering input whatsoever. Just a slight change of pressure to the left or right will do it. (It's not a twisty mountain road with hairpins and 90 degree bends, as has already been stated). So it's also highly likely the lorry could've changed lanes with the Clio still attached.
I guess the only way we'll know for certain is, when, and if, the driver comes forward and explains it from his side.

Reason : clearer explanation of road layout - i hope
Yeah yeah, there's lots of things that could be changed to make the racing more exciting, but, it'll take time, money and cooperation from ALL the teams. And as Bernie the Bolt has said recently. F1 ain't a dictatorship anymore. So getting a dozen team bosses to agree to effectively dumb down the technical aspect of the sport ain't really gonna happen any time soon. I doubt the big manufacturers would be too keen either (for obvious reasons)
Personally I agree with many of the above ideas, and also add, lets get rid of the ship to shore telemetry, as well as the amount of information the driver has on the cars performance. Don't know about anyone else, but i really hate hearing on the radio feed stuff like, "you're running a bit hot, change to mode 3, setting C" etc. It would put much more onus on the driver knowing exactly what the car was doing at any given moment, and may even lead to more reliability problems and breakdowns. Some may not like it, but back in the 70's/80's and even the 90's, a huge part of the excitement came when it became apparent a driver had a problem with the car, and seeing how he'd deal with it. Remember Schuie getting stuck in 5th gear (?) at Spa (?) in 199(?) He still came 2nd (?) - (old age getting in the memory banks a bit there, sorry)
Anyway, for this year, perhaps a quick fix may add more excitement for all these Johnny come lately, fair weather, i want i want i want TV supporters. So maybe, forcing a two stop strategy and changing the tyre compounds will work.
Yeah, i'm sure there is something in it, although how significant it is in a child's development will vary depending on so many other factors, i.e the parental upbringing, environment, money etc etc.
The thing that gets me is, this sort of thing tends to be used to take away the culpability and responsibility of the individual with regards to his/her future actions and mindset..."Well, i can't help being a mindless drug taking chavy thug, it's just the way i am, it's genetic". A few years ago every problem known to man was because of some sort of 'disorder'. This kids crap at maths...oh he must have a disorder, this one's no good a football, yep, he's got a disorder, this other one's a kleptomaniac, same again, a disorder, so lets all bend over backwards for these poor unfortunates and try to live around their problems, rather than telling them to work harder, try harder, or stop stealing !
This Nature v Nurture debate usually misses the point. Yes it may explain a myriad of humanistic personality traits, likes, wants and needs. But, should it ever be used as an excuse for wrong behaviour ?, should it ever be considered unchangeable ? Who said nature can't be tamed, controlled and mastered ?
A good friend of mine is well into his 40's, but he can neither read nor write (how, he's survived this long i've no idea). But non-the-less, he's got a wife, a couple of kids, and a steady job. He claims his inability to comprehend the written word is purely genetic (or maybe it's a disorder ?) yet, give him a task to do that's out of his comfort zone and if he can't do it at the first attempt, he just quits and leaves it, or even worse, if he doesn't even understand it in the first place, he won't even try. Now, thing is, he had a really really shit childhood, he never ever got any encouragement or praise for anything when he was a kid. He was the only coloured kid in his school, so he was constantly taunted by the other kids, and the teachers were very off with him too. His father left home when he was very young, and his mother, well, (i know the woman quite well, so..) all i can say is she did her best, even though she's never worked a day in her life.....So, is this nature dealing him a dodgy set of genes, or, is this nurture treating him like a worthless reject ?
I'm sure human behaviour is a result of many many differing variables, but, to blame everything on this, that or the other is a bit of a cop-out in my opinion. Why not take a bit of responsibility for our own actions, attitudes and behaviour. We are supposed to be an evolving species, after all.
Yep, there's a gene for everything these days. A god gene, a stupid gene, a lazy gene, a selfish gene, a narcissistic gene, an "I-ain't-got-no-money" gene, a "when the bloody hell is the next LFS patch gonna arrive" gene...a you-gene.
4k to spend on something that's reliable, cheap to insure, cheap to run, will start first time even if it's been left out in the cold, rain and snow for weeks on end ?.
If it were my cash, i would start my search with a Ford Focus or a Honda Civic, if i wanted something a bit 'different' for 4k, a SAAB would be my first choice, then a Volvo S/V40.
Can-Am's not really my thing to be honest so i've never looked for any pics of it. But, it might be worth having a further look around that same site. It's full to the brim of thousands and thousand of other stuff, so maybe they'll have other forms of motorsports in there too. Failing that, you could always try contacting the guy who posted the F1 pics and see if he can help.
Have to say it's not a bad idea blowing some of these photos up to poster size. In the right frame a huge pic of Fangio in his 250f would look great on my living room wall
Probably take you 6 months to download everything, but if you can't find what you're looking for in all that lot, then it probably doesn't exist. And as far as high-res goes, that's about as good as it gets.
Ohhh i'm not so sure about that young man. Way way back when you were but a twinkle in your mothers eye, there was a game called Auto Racing on the Intellivision. I've had a look for a video clip but youtube's acting a bit weird for me right now. But, i'm certain you could drift the cars, unless my memory's playing tricks on me again.
Check it out. By today's standard it's a heap of.. but back then, god how we marvelled.....we were a simple folk back in the 70's.
Hmmm, i'm not liking all these shark fins on the 2010 cars. Perhaps i dreamt it, but i thought new regulations had been brought in to get rid of them this year ?
In further news, MotoGP tries similar concept to cash in on increased advertising space. Tour De France expected to follow suit.
In yet other news, although it's far too early to tell, those Ferraris are looking damn quick already, lets not hope for a repeat of last year, eh ?
