Quote from SamH :Went to Whitby again last Friday night, for fish and chips. It's a 3 hour round-trip but it's worth it.

Ahh yeah man !. Whitby from the bridge on the A171 on a clear sunny day is one of my favourite views in the world.

Ill try to find a pic of it for those who don't know.

Doesn't really do it justice, but http://www.flickr.com/photos/kasloan27/2685403200/sizes/l/

Quote from Shotglass :well if its real hes a bigger idiot than all the f1 thread poasters zeugni mentioned combined
and a wuss

And a liar. In his post race interview he said he'd dropped it on the bumps because he was fat with fuel.

Word is it was his father who brought this to the attention of the FIA the day Nelsinho got the sack. Nice of him to stand by his son and show the world what a pathetic loser he is. As we've already discussed in this thread, Piquet Snr is a damn fine chap, no wait...

Quote from Becky Rose : How do you think they always know the way home? It's obvious: They simply pop home into their own dimension and come back where they want to be the next time they are hungry for some tourists bread.

 Don't be silly, they use sat nav.

They do, they do actually sort of. They actually follow the road and rail network and work out their route home. Next time you see a lorry driving along the motorway take a close look, you'll see all the pigeons looking out the window to see which way they're being taken. Honest-ish

Quote from mclarenmatt :Piquet's FIA Statement "Leaked."

http://www.f1sa.com/index.php? ... p;id=17075&Itemid=219

Obviously I don't know if this is fake or real guy's but it does look pretty legit to me.

It's on a few other sites too, so i'd say it's legit.

Thing is, it's just a statement, i can't see any hard evidence to back up these claims, and i'm not sure if the telemetry will be enough. Although, i have to say, the more i read about this the more i think it might be genuine. But, as i said earlier in the thread, without hard evidence it's just his word against theirs. Perhaps Flavio and Pat Symonds will stand up and admit to it. But if they do that then they can say goodbye to F1 for good.

On another note, Ferrari have just confirmed a 5yr sponsorship deal with Santander starting next year. So it looks like Alonso will be in red in 2010.

So with all that in mind, i wonder what will happen to Renault now ?

Quote from carey : That’s ok, but my defence would be that your generation, where the ones who bred half-wits like me (then decided to thoroughly patronise us and not educate them to the same level you lot had the chance to).

Well yes. Taking the piss out of youngsters is one of the few things the older generation can still enjoy. You'll be doing exactly the same when you're an old git too, trust me, it's in yer genes

Quote from PjFerreira : But regardless the result of this matter his racing career is over. Being his idea or Briatore's nothing changes for him... Because who hit the wall and brought out the safety car was him...

So... shame on him... he screwed things up.. and he is over...

I'm sad to see a F1 class driver doing a thing like that...

Yep, agree with every word. If he had just kept his big mouth shut he may have, (may have), had a chance of getting a drive with one of these new teams next year. But now, i don't think anyone will want him to be within 100 miles of an F1 car.

Quote from carey :even if they don't enunciate themselves correctly, and even more so if they’re a non-native English speaker, as is common here.

Quote from tristancliffe :P.S. There're is an odd contraction, but technically it's correct. Most writers would still use 'there are' though, but mainly out of ease of understanding.

Yip

Sorry chaps, just a tad bored right now, and in one of my all to frequent 'odd but churlish' moods.

Carry on.

Seems like he's backed himself into a corner here.

Unless there's more evidence to come, there's no conclusive proof of a conspiracy to deliberately crash and effect the outcome of the race. All the telemetry shows is that he kept his boot in in that particular corner, i'd guess it'd be exactly the same with all his other crashes too. Then it comes down to a war of "their words against his". Unless he secretly record that conversation, which i doubt. So he doesn't have a leg to stand on...oh wait, that's Ale....(nope, no place for bad taste jokes)

Makes perfect sense to me.

How long would it take to train a colony of ants ? about a year ? thats how long he said he'd been working on this. And after all, the workers do whatever the queen tells them to do...phnarg

Quote from Dajmin : Bits of it remind me of the '65 Mustang and, obviously, the original 300SL. So those bits are retro. Other parts remind me of newer vert coupes like the S2000 (those front lights and the lines along the sides especially).

Yeah, funnily enough those where the exact same cars i had in mind too.

The real test will be how it looks in the flesh. I've lost count of the number of new cars i didn't like the look of in photos, but completely changed my opinion when seeing them for real, and vica versa. Gives me an idea for another new thread actually....

Quote from Chupacabras84 :Worse.

X-Plane is clearly better than MSFS, but IL2 and Lomac ? come on, be serious.

Watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v ... J27q8&feature=related
then this
(N.B. warning to younger viewers, this is what happens in real life, and it's not nice, someone dies.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gcouFKEHkw

Don't knock the flight modeling in MSFS, yes it's "canned" and it doesn't use "real world" aero modelling, but it gets much closer than most people think.

Quote from Chupacabras84 :

What and you call yourself a racer Come one how will you measure your acceleration when adjusting your gearbox to tell is it better or worse.
For diagnostics purposes it is a perfect thing.

Why fanny round with all that nonsense when you have Team Inferno

Quote from TypeRacing :At least McLaren is more beautiful than Mercedes

Mmm, i was having a look at that last night, and i'm split right down the middle with it. I can't work out whether it's a magnificant piece of retro design, or just plain butt ugly ?

Quote from Chupacabras84 :And if we talking about physics physics in MSFS is rather pure when compared to il-2, Xplane and even lock on.
So sry in terms of physics MSFS not really a sim unless we talking bout plans added by mods.

I'd like to comment on that, but, i'm not entirely sure what it is you're saying. Are you saying MSFS has better or worse flight modelling than IL2, Xplane and Lock On ?

And for the record, in my opinion LFS doesn't need achievements, (other than winning of course). But, if Scawen and the boys think the game will be enhanced by them, then i'm sure they'll appear at some stage.

I've been hanging around this place long enough to work out that the Devs have a pretty good handle on what they're doing here, they're smart guys yunno. So if they wanna include such things then it's ok with me. But, just like the drag strip or the oval, i can't see myself ever using or needing it.

So any idea how he did it ? Trickery ?, magic balls ?, lucky guess ?, has he brainwashed the whole world into thinking he got it right but the real numbers are completely different ?, or has he cracked it for real ?.

Definitely watching on Friday

I agree with the general consensus, it's a bit underwhelming, a bit, meh.

On a slightly related note, perhaps we could/should have a single thread for new car releases. I found some new pics of that Maserati drop-top but did'nt really want to bump the thread after the op got a bit of a telling off. Also, yet more real world pics of the new Rolls Royce have been surfacing recently, and i wanted to post them aswell. So, perhaps someone could start a new "New Car" thread, and if some kind hearted (or extremely bored) Mod fancies droping all these extraneous car threads in there, that'd be great.

Quote from tinvek : it'll be interesting where he goes next year as he may now be looking for a race seat (thats a seat as in chair not a SEAT as in touring car) rather than the testing position at ferrari he was rumoured to be going for. also he now will bring some info on ferrari with him.

He'll have a non-disclosure clause in his contract so any information he'll carry to another team will be next to useless.

My guess is he'll stay with Ferrari. There's still a chance he'll race for them next year. If the rumours are true about Kimi moving on and Alonso taking his seat, that only leaves a question mark over Massa. I don't doubt he'll be fit enough physically, but, the brain injury side of things are much harder to evaluate. I would hate to lose Massa from F1, but i wouldn't be too surprised if he's already driven his last ever race in the sport. Time will tell

Quote from tinvek : as an aside, anyone else wonder about the rescheduling of the time for the final gP and that it may not have quite as much to do with TV audiences and more to do with running a race in cooler conditions to stop the brawns running away from anyone else and possibly spoiling a final race title battle ?

Nah, i don't buy that at all. Remember this is Bernie's idea, so you can bet yer house on the fact it's for the TV audience. And besides, the Brawns don't have anywhere near the hot weather advantage they had at the beginning of the season.

Ahh thanks for that.

Odd thing though, the first link came up blank at first, but opening the second link (which was fine) made the first link (including the one in Woz's post) work.
