Quote from thisnameistaken :I should really pester them more about having a bass player

You could do a lot worse, might be worth a punt ? Who needs a full time job anyway ?

Got to say i've been playing the first two tracks on a loop since i posted that one above -almost an hour -, and the more i hear them the more i like it. Which i'm genuinely surprised at to be honest, as it's really not the kind of stuff i would go looking for. The second track "Monty" seems to have everything including the kitchen sink thrown at it. And a producer who can mix a song and seamlessly intertwine what sounds like something from the Indiana Jones theme to classic Fleetwood Mac and a Theremin has to be some sort of genius. Kinda reminds me of - and your really gonna hate this - kinda reminds me of a smooth chilled out version of the Go Team .

Still can't remember the name of that bird from the 80's though, but give me time

Oh, and you're still a Noob too, or so i hear...

Been really reluctant to post in this thread, coz once i start on this subject i can literally go on for weeks. It seems as though i'm a bit late anyway, but i will say this.

"The repentant tax collector is the one who found favour in Gods eyes, not the arrogant self righteous man who believes he's being a good Christian" you understand that one ?

Interesting thread.

Probably the 'hippest' (is that still a cool word ?) label in the UK at the mo is Domino Records http://www.dominorecordco.com/ ... =artists&artistID=209 if you click on each of the pics you can hear the artist songs

@DWB, listening to some of your choices makes me think you might like this http://www.myspace.com/baikonour you might recognise the first track 'Hoku To Shin Ken' it's erm, from a car ad (ten bonus points if you know which ad)

As to the rest of the stuff already posted i'm surprised that the only one i really like is Kevs Grinny Grandad. Especially the first two tracks, utterly fantastic production, whoever did it has some talent. But it doesn't half remind me of an artist from the 80's, especial her voice. Can't for the life of me remember who it was, as she only had a couple of hits, but give me a few days and i'll have a think.
Not sure the Peaches cover works so well, although it is still a demo so needs a bit more work. Can't mess with one of the greatest bass lines of all time to much yunno.

Didn't Lerts post a thread about this very thing this morning ?

Indeedy http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=45965

Best of luck asking him how he did it

[edit]I guess he must have plugged his wheel in as normal but not used the wheel itself, only the pedals. Seems as though he did this coz there wasn't enough room on his table. Sounds straight forward, unless your wheel is completely buggered ?

Got to say that a gamepad probably is the best and smallest solution. Although it does take a while to get used to it. It took me ages to get comfortable with one on GPbikes, but once you've put the time in, it is quite a good way to drive/ride/race.

It is for a Playstation 2, but all you'll need is one of them little usb/PS2 adapter things. It does work on PC trust me, i had one (briefly).

And it is very very small, so small in fact i kept getting my thumbs stuck in the wheel

How small is small ?

Thrustmaster used to make a fairly small wheel a few years ago. (maybe they still do ?) It's got/had 2 progressive axis flappy paddle thingys on the wheel for the throttle and brake (no pedals needed) and the whole wheel itself including the casing was no bigger than....erm....a smallish bag

Give me a few mins i'll see if i can find a link with some dimensions.

[edit] http://www.geeks.com/details.a ... _GEEKVAC-_-GEEKVACproduct
8inch wheel, the casings not much bigger so in total it's probably no more than 9 inch by 9 inch. It's far far from the best quality but at only $4.99 you can't go wrong.

Need something smaller ?

Ugh...
Quote from popps258 :Is the word disabled such a dirty word?
My, judging some of the posts, for some it sure seems that way

Don't be ridiculous.

Quote from popps258 :maybe i should ask for this post to be totally removed and then i could rewrite it in a new post with my grammar corrected.

The grammar wasn't the issue, rather the context in which you're using your personal disability to justify a request and maybe even garner a bit of sympathy, which Dan has already pointed out has no relation to the request for extra ovals in the slightest

Quote from popps258 :there are lots of lfs users who ask for other stupid things such as tyre brands, colour of seats, dash layout, or complaining the time clock is not in its correct place, etc

Agreed, but how many photocopier salesmen have announced themselves as photocopier salesmen and then demanded a Mondeo diesel be added to the game. Or how many of them have complained they're being discriminated against because the existing cars don't have enough cupholders.

There's nothing wrong with a request for extra ovals at all. But the way in which you worded the request by pointing out your disability (and it's not the first time you've done this) and then claiming that extra ovals should be included to solely accommodate you and other disabled members of the LFS community was quite simple out of order. And as is apparent by the other posts in this thread, offensive to a quite a few of us here (some of whom are disabled themselves).

Most if not all the major supermarket chains in the UK have had home shopping for a few years now. Use it myself all the time. It's a bit of a godsend tbh, although you have to pay a delivery charge, and you don't exactly get the pick of the crop when ordering fresh fruit and veg. But other than that it sure does beat having to wait in a queue with screaming kids, little doddery awld biddies and smelly alkies buying their special brew.

Quote from lerts :yes but f1 drivers go with such low sensitivities

if ff was more crispy it would be perfect going with low sensitivities and still be able to countersteer thanks from info of ff

Lol at "crispy"

I guess it depends on what controller you have.

My wheel is about 240 degrees lock to lock, no idea of the sensitivity/ratio ? There is a programme out there(name escapes me right now) that could get it down to a 1:1 ratio, but my wheel has pretty heavy FFB and turns slowly lock to lock , so i doubt i'd even got out of the garage let alone catch the rear end when it breaks loose.

But the (normal) human brain can usually adjust to a change in ratio/sensitivity fairly quickly, and finding the correct steering inputs soon becomes second nature with a higher ratio.

As always it comes down to the quality of the controller you're using and how you set up the ffb. (incidently i'm still yet to find the perfect ffb settings for my newest wheel and i've had it for months and months. But having said that, i hardly ever race these days so, yunno)

I've got the same answer as you guys 2

So if their 'correct' answer is any different, then we should be able to point out the ambiguity of the question and get them to give us the money. And god knows i need every penny i can get right now

Hmmm bit loathed to post in this thread to be honest, but, i've got to agree with Android, Dan and a few others.

There's no need to bring in the disability angle at all. If you want more Ovals then just say "I want more Ovals please". Using a disability to garner some sort of sympathy or justification to a request is not on quite frankly. But i'm sure the LFS "disabled community" would never stoop to such depths, would they.

For your information there are several disabled LFS members who wouldn't go within a hundred miles of an Oval, and you never hear them complaining how difficult the game is. Anyway, the problems encountered by someone with a disability are not the fault of the games programming or the content. Most if not all can be sorted out with the adaptation of controller equipment in the individuals homes (just like in real life) Ok, so you may not be as competitive on the road circuits, so what. With a bit of practice the speed will come, just look at how competitive Alex Zanardi is these days.

Adding more ovals just because it's easier for a crip to drive isn't the answer or the correct reason. Add extra ovals because it fits in with the direction the Devs want to take LFS, and to meet the demand of Oval racers period. Not pander to the needs of a few whingers(*) who feel they're being discriminated against. What's next ?, asking Eric to install hand controls in each of the cars, or better still get him to build an MPV with full wheelchair access ?

* N.B yes i did notice you answered the 'whinger' accusation, but i just wanted to add my 2cents to the question as a whole. And the use of the word is mainly directed to whingers in general and not a personal slur on you Popps.

Quote from MonkOnHotTinRoof :More interesting questions: How many people did Hitler actually killed ? (besides from himself)

The official death toll during WW2 is approximately 50million. The vast majority being Russian and German, with either 6 or 8 million Jews loosing their lives (can't remember if it was 6 or 8) As to how many he actually killed with his own bare hands as it were. Well, perhaps it was only himself, Eva Braun and his pet dog. But there's no way to know for certain.

Quote from MonkOnHotTinRoof :Is quilty someone that gives orders, or flock that is ready to execute his orders ? Is it even possible to be quilty of anything in predetermined universe ?

Quote from xaotik :Only if one is determined to be.

Guilt however is not a universal concept.

That's actually one of the most fascinating questions asked in this forum for many a year. Really hope some of the brainiacs and philosophers of the LFS community see this and start a debate about it, certainly would make a very interesting topic

Quote from Shotglass :that depends on whether or not you like to sew

Took me a few mins to get that one, but did make me laugh

http://www.logitech.com/index. ... devices/3848&cl=us,en

Wow that does deserve a cookie. That's real sweet that is, cheers

But, yet another example of rip-off Britain $150 US with an exchange rate of approx 2-1, so yes we're paying £100 GB. It's nice but a bit pricey.

Actually i've had a good scan around the net and realised i'd completely forgotten about Joy2key. That should do away with the need to shift+ everything and bring it all back to one a touch keystroke type thing. So perhaps that PS3 keypad will do the trick after all.

@Ash, yeah, as far as i can tell it's all plug and play, exactly like any other standard keyboard out there. But if you use Joy2key you'll be able to fully programme it to do just about anything you want.

Quote from Becky Rose :If I do enough of them maybe it could be included as a driving guide, but there are aspects of racing where the advise is best given by somebody better at it than me.

Becky being coy ? surely not

Erm perhaps you have a point, but there are other real world racers in here with a wide variety of experience, so i guess you could gleam quite a lot of info from them. Only if you have the time of course, but i might be worth the effort. And i havn't read many complaints about this series of threads you've made so far.

As mentioned above, that "Four-Wheel Drift" booklet that came with the original GPL is a riveting read and adds an extra special little element to the overall game experience. It would be nice to have something similar for LFS

Choc chip & Hazelnut please

Oh bollocks, you live in Newcastle too, can't blame excessive postage for not sending them then

Actually i did have a look at that earlier today. But what i'm really looking for is a tiny keyboard with separate number keys, rather than having to shift+ (this is primarily for FSX). There are a few around the 8inch mark like that one above, but i really need one about 6 inchs to fit in the space on my yoke.

Found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/83Keys-M ... p;_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318 but it looks particularly shite

Was kinda hoping for one like the Xbox 360 messenger kit keyboard thing http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/hardware/x/xbox360messengerkit/ but with a usb connection

Failing that, i was thinking of buying a cheap PDA and hooking it up to the pc and using it as an extra input device. Just not sure how easy it is to set that up ?

I was talking to someone about this subject just a couple of days ago, and we came to the conclusion that it may be best to have a worldwide amnesty with just about every sport you can think of. Set a date whereby anyone who has being using performance enhancing drugs can come forward (privately) confess their sins, and not have to face any punishment whatsoever (including those who've had previous bans). Then from that date forward, anyone caught using them gets an instant lifetime ban. Any medals, trophy's, records, prizes (including money) have to be returned or seized. Basically scaring the crap outta them with the threat of losing just about everything they've gained from the sport should make people think twice.

The biggest problem i had with cycling over the last few years is how the authorities handled the situation. It just made the sport look a complete farce, as different federations each had their own way of dealing with the problem. If i remember correctly that Danish rider (name escapes me) had already tested positive and was already under investigation before the start of the Tour, so why the hell was he allowed to race ?

And that's part of the problem with trying to police these doping issues within sport. All these two-bit councils and organising bodies within each individual sport seem to have their own agenda, criteria and levels of punishment for wrongdoing. Some hand out 2yr bans, some 4yr bans, some give a slap on the wrist and say don't do it again and some give lifetime bans with no exceptions. And if the wrongdoer is a megastar of the sport then, well he/she can get carteblanche. Won't mention any names here, but quite a few of the top sporting names where known to be using drugs, but nothing was done. And as you say, how does this reflect on the grass roots levels of sport.

It's a sad thing to admit, but cheating seems to be very much a part of human nature. And i'm not sure anything can be done about that, short of a frontal-lobotomy.

I've had a look on the net to see if there are any other mini keypads like this one, and i see Xbox do one for the 360. It has a lot more keys on it, but seems a bit more bulky, and i don't think you can use it without an Xbox controller.

If anyone else knows of a tiny tiny little usb keyboard (approx 6inch long) i'd definitely trade a of box of cookies for a link. Otherwise i think i'll go get this PS3 one.

Quote from xaotik :Great read - all these new HowTo's need to be stickied and/or added to the wiki.

+1

These are beginning to resemble the "Four-Wheel Drift" driving guide booklet that was packaged with the original GPL cd

Defo think these should be complied and added/linked to/from the LFS Manual page in Wiki. Or maybe even added to LFS itself as a pdf along with a pdf of the game manual ?
