Quote from Linsen :I don't think a man in a dress would turn any heads at a sports event in the UK, let alone make it into a magazine.

Quote from zeugnimod :I did rely on Wikipedia and got the right answer.

I counted 16 participations for the Hills (including the NC) and 15 for the Villeneuves.

N/C means a non classified finish. So he took part in the race but didn't finish it...then ran away before telling anyone why he stopped... or something like that.

The problem revolved around the 1992 race where Damon Hill didn't qualify (DNQ). Technically he didn't contest the race, but obviously the Race Manager guys thought he had, so they had the Hill's in 16 races and not the same number of 15 races as the Villeneuve's

Because you could only make one choice i picked the Villeneuve's (simple because they're Canadian) so, at first i was wrong. But it seems the little email i sent them showing the error of their ways has done the trick

Quote from Jakg :Enjoying Forza, but having issues with driving as there seems to be a bit of a dead-zone on the steering axis - is this a problem with my controller or just something I need to get used to?

If you're coming from a G25 and LFS, then using a gamepad in Forza is always going to be a bit of an anticlimax. You'll not notice it so much in PGR as it's much more of an arcade racer. But Forza really needs a wheel to get the best out of the physics (which are actually very good tbh) Don't think it's a problem with the gamepad's deadzone, although try another if poss, see if it's any different.

And as far as the topic is concerned, here's my list of must have Xbox games (if you're interested).

In no particular order:-

PGR2,
if you like the original, you'll love number 2, it's stunning, one of the best Xbox games ever.

Ghost Recon
, in my opinion still one of the best FPS's ever made. Free roaming, non linear, very very difficult (one hit kills) Used to have a great online community, and at the time one of the few ported games that was actually better than the PC version. (although the PC community quickly caught up with some fantastic mods).

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR)
Not great graphics, takes a while to get into it, seems like a big pile of doggy poo at first. But stick with it, get involved with the story, and you'll discover it's simply a masterpiece of gaming. One of the best games of all time imo. It's got so much depth, so much character, so many things to do and places to explore, so many directions to follow and choices to make, you'll quickly forget it's short comings and you'll really begin to care about the characters in the game you'll do anything to protect them and keep them alive. Seriously, this is a great great game, get it !

MotoGP Numbers 1 and 2 are the ones to go for, number 3 didn't really add much except street racing and weird bikes (which isn't as good as it sounds) But, all games have great a control system and a really neat high speed blur effect. Great fun !

Got to be honest, there's not really many other Xbox games that stand out for me. Midtown Madness is ok for a laugh, Halo is good, but gets very repetitive after a while. And as i said above, Forza really needs a proper controller to get the best out of it. Other than that, there arn't many games that stand out as being that good. But then again, when i had my Xbox i was buying games at full price, so they had to be good to justify the cost. Maybe these days i wouldn't be so critical if i could buy the 'lesser' titles for a couple of quid.

P.S not read the entire thread, so i apologise if all these games have already been suggested.

My take on the race

a) Fantastic race and a well deserved win for Lewis.
b) Absolutely gutted for Sutil and Force India, think they deserve free Ferrari engines for the rest of the season for that one.
c) Nasty looking crash for Rosberg, pleased he's ok.
d) Lonso lost the plot again.
e) Really think it's time for DC to hang up his helmet tbh.
f) James Allen truly is a complete and utter cock. He was unbearable this race with all his comparisons to Lewis Hamilton and Senna. Someone please shoot him before the next race...

V surprising to see Massa on pole. Heamultoni looked a shoe in since Thursday morning. Lets hope Ferrari are running light.

A big 'Tommy Two Thumbs' up for Rosberg too, he's got some talent that kid, lets hope he gets into a top team in the next few years. Or better still, lets hope Williams remember how to make a front row car.

I can give you R2D2's rear caster if you want...

Quote from KlingersDressCollection :I'm more of a C3PO smile sort of guy, but thanks anyway.

Oh i see. So you prefer women with plastic arms and legs then . Yeah, i've heard of this kinda stuff before. Cyborg Fetish or something, interesting, very interesting...

Thanks for the heads up Hyper

@ Mr Cliffe, it's not as hard as you might think tbh. If you know the track on the right hand side then that narrows it down considerably. Then just find a site with profiles of all the tracks, and have a look at the profiles of those second tracks, and there's your answer. Quite simple really

p.s i don't wanna say to much, otherwise Mr HSBC'V5TBH aka Mr Rooster will shout at me and call me nasty names

[Edit] anyone heard the weather forecast for this coming weekend ?

Can't really add much to the good advice already given except, be careful...

If it were me, and cash was tight, i'd buy a little cheap run around, save up, pass your bike test and get something bigger later on. But please please be careful...

I think it means both Super Aguri's will be placed in the last two places for both qualy and race, so even if you driver qualifies last and goes out at T1 then they'll still get more points than the Super Aguri's as he'll be classified in 20th position no matter what.

My advice is ditch Super Aguri a.s.a.p (and watch MotoGP instead )

Unless TAA was trying to be a cunning little devil by playing the old slight of hand card trick and getting all his rivals to choose SA's and loose mucho points....

Just a thought, but if you want to do something 'worthy' how about doing some voluntary work in your spare time. Go help feed the homeless or visit the elderly or something.

Have a look here http://www.csv.org.uk/ it might give you a few ideas

Nah, a mid-life crisis has nothing to do with age per se, it's simply a name for a point in your life when you feel :-

1. Discontent with life and/or the lifestyle that may have provided happiness for many years
2. Boredom with things/people that have hitherto held great interest and dominated your life
3. Feeling adventurous and wanting to do something completely different
4. Questioning the meaning of life, and the validity of decisions clearly and easily made years before
5. Confusion about who you are, or where your life is going.

(obvious C&P but thats basically the definition of the term)

Some will say it happens when you hit 40, but just about every '30something' i know has gone through these feelings in the last few years, including myself. and i'm 40 next year It's nothing to be ashamed of, honestly.

That's whats called the start of "Yer Mid-Life Crisis" Kev. And it happens to the best of us, so don't worry too much, unless it's something that's making you genuinely depressed.

Thing to remember is, you can't go back in time and 'un-waste' everything you consider wasteful. The past is the past, what's done has been done. The trick is not to dwell on the past too much, move on, and start living from the here and now.

Try writing out a list of all the things you'd really really like to do or achieve in your life, then start making the neccessary plans to do them, then, just do em. Have a good long hard think of the things in life that you consider worthy and fulfilling, then, as long as they're legal, point your life in that direction and go for it.

This is gonna sound really trite, but, if you're searching for true happiness and true contentment, then you'll only find it in one place. And that's in your own heart. If you're comfortable in your own skin, then you never have to live up to other peoples or even societies expectations of yourself. Learn to love yourself first, then you'll find it much easier to love the life you live. And don't be ashamed of who you are, whoever or whatever you are.

But, it's important to set yourself goals, something to reach for, something to attain. Otherwise you might as well curl up into a ball and die. A man without hope is well and truely hopeless. But if you're aware that things aren't quite right, then change them. Its as simple as that. And you are the only one that can change yourself, no one else can. It's up to you !

Ok bud, i'm way way outta my depth here, and to be honest i understand nitch of what's been said in this thread.

But, i did have a sort of a similar problem to this when i got my new card. The first time i turned on the PC i booted into Linux with DVI and got a blank no signal gubbins. Changed to VGA, booted up and got the same again. After several hours and many failed attempts i eventually found the nextdoor neighbours cat and gave it a good hard kick. Tried the DVI adaptor again and lo and behold got a signal, however everything was purple...Switched off, decided to screw in the little screw things on the adaptor and the ones into the DVI socket itself, and it's been perfect ever since .

So, the moral of my story is, i guess i had a bit of a dodgy adaptor or monitor plug thing, that just needed a bit of wiggling or needed to be perfectly set into the socket on the PC.

Sounds like you've tried everything already though BBT, so feel free to treat this post with the distain it probably so rightly deserves I know nothing about this sort of stuff...honestly

Although i'll also add, i do have 2 different DVI adaptors and they do have different numbers of pins in them....give me a few mins and i'll check to see if the other one works..

{quick edit} Ok, tried the other adaptor (the one with a full set of pins) and it's very very sensitive. With just a very slight wiggle it switches between everything purple and everything blank (no signal)
Don't know it that helps ?

I'm really enjoying this.

I'm not quick though, only in the 54's atm, but it's definitely worth an investment when more content and proper online play comes along.

Is it worth buying one of those bike-handlebar-controller things ?

No problem. I'm sure one of the mods will see it and move it later. No harm done.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up Motordirex .

I've only had a quick 5min blast, and at first look, i'm impressed. Although it's next to impossible to control with the keyboard The physics seem pretty good, and the tyres collect dirt and grass which do seem to affect grip. I'll try hooking up a controller later in the day and give it a proper go.

But, it does appear to have some potential this...

I really don't understand all the criticism going on tbh. I've watched the show three times now, and didn't hear a word she said. So no complaints from me.

Anyway, i'm off to check the airbags in me car....
