I needed something really good in snow, but not boring. Alas, my 2015 Ford Interceptor! 3.5L Twin Turbo AWD, with a great warranty. Loving it so far.

The new Rammstein album is killer, it's now been out a month. Was worth the ten year wait and it's a great driving album.

Very happy to see updates still coming along. Works great on my desktop, decided to install on my notebook for at work and wow, it's been a while, and I'm really impressed with how optimized it is. It's a 5200U with HD 5500, and I can pretty much max it out and hold 100fps. Very impressive.

Sounds like you're enjoying it for all the right reasons Big grin It's fantastic, can't wait for the new physics model as well. Should be even more rewarding.

I think some people burn much more fuel than others trying to understand basic physics. For some of us it's much more intuitive. I've been totally unable to get a single friend interested, they just don't enjoy the learning curve. You gotta really care about cars and motorsports to get involved I think.
My reason for playing was I bought a '97 MKIII GTI back in 2005 and I saw what looked like a GTI in an image for LFS and immediately downloaded it and fell in love, couldn't believe how realistic it was. My only complaint was that the GTI has no VR6 Big grin

Moved recently, and so not fully set up yet. I don't have a wheel or anything, stuck using M+K, tho I do enjoy it. Anyway, I built this rig at the end of 2015. Gonna upgrade the Gpu some time next year, otherwise gonna milk it for the foreseeable future.

Running Win10, it has worked very well in the past. HD Texture pack seems to make no difference. Here's a view of task manager, nothing out of the ordinary.

Here's my Stang, and my Saab.

Too many mods to list, it's a 2004 GT, I swapped out the rear quarter scoops for the '99 style because they looked better when painted. I've done a lot with the exterior and interior because stock these cars are very boring, and the interior is just abysmal, though thankfully mine has the premium leather, which was a good place to start; the standard cloth interiors for these cars were absolutely horrible and I'd never even consider owning one with it. The new edge design 'can' be very nice, see 2003/2004 Cobra. I didn't want it to be a Cobra clone, I wanted something unique. Just pick a nice unique theme and run with it. Also suspension, wheels/tires, and brakes are an absolute must, and if you want to make any real power with the 4.6 2Valve, forced induction is essential. 450WHP and 477RWT. Before the turbo, with full bolt-on's, exhaust, gears and tune, I was able to put down about 320whp.

Some recent pics, see bottom for my Saab.

1995 Saab with Viggen turbo and lots of other little things, full suspension, brakes. Awesome daily driver.

It's not severe, lasts like 1/10th of a second, but occasionally it's enough to throw me off and ruin a race. I've been on break from the game for a while, so I'm not sure if it's this most recent patch causing it.

I seriously doubt it's my hardware, very high end. Playing at 2560x1080, no mods/addons at all, just the HD texture pack.

This occurs offline as well. The game seems to want to peg one thread to 100%, and the other 11 are just sitting completely idle. Very frustrating.

Any tips are welcome. Hate to make a new thread but searching hasn't yielded any results that help.

I don't believe Xfire is worth the headache for this game, unless you're running multiple 4k panels you probably don't need it, even then, just one of your 290's will be very difficult to get even 50% utilization. Also keep in mind, Nv and AMD do great optimizations for DX11 titles, not so much DX9, I would avoid Xfire/SLI like the plague for older titles like this Wink

Wow, I haven't updated in a very long time. I love the optimizations, getting a solid 500fps with full grid, amazing..

Also this is my first time playing in Ultrawide, man oh man this game looks and feels sensational like this. I won't have my Vive headset until July, but I'm having a blast in the meantime.

I really can't believe how much it's been updated since I went MIA, great work, and sooo happy to see the community thriving. Big thumbs up!

If you go back and read over this entire thread, you will, at least, see why some of us, including myself, haven't really stuck around as strong as we used to. Disagreeing is one thing, but people can be really hard on those who suggest things like this, cruel even.

The theory is interesting, and certainly a possibility, although I find unlikely as well, I feel we would have heard something by now; but why not keep an open mind, it's healthy discussion.

I post maybe once or twice a year, because of the way people behave, but again, many, if not most here are good people.
Most people here are kind and generous, but some just... come down way too hard on people for talking about this Sim's development and its direction. I realize how much people care about LFS, so I'm understanding of people taking a hard line when discussing stuff like this, but it's almost always over the top and too much.
Myself, I think it's worth thinking about. I don't know how difficult programming is, truly, I don't have much experience, but I did study physics, and I have a hard time believing the delay is simply an issue of the tire physics model. Something more must be going on.

I still visit this forum, read a bit, and always immediately open any thread marked with physics and Sirocco. I don't recall when I last posted, but anyway, it's been easier for me to wait because I gave up and started racing my own cheaper cars, I wish everyone could do this

Honestly I'm just tired, tired of looking, waiting, and wondering, and worried, that I'll be disappointed in the end.

But more than anything I don't want this forum to dissolve if it never comes, or comes in pieces and sets everyone's hair on fire because, blasphemy for doing that.

But I'm still here, waiting and wondering. It better be good!

Anyone with a PC that they care about should at the very least have these two apps. They're simple, no install, just a small *.exe that runs and uses virtually no resources at all, just watches your system.

This one is uber: http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/hwmonitor/1.23-setup.exe

And this is great for watching your Gpu activity, temps, fan speeds, etc: http://www.techpowerup.com/dow ... u-z-v0-7-2/start?server=6

EDIT: Sorry I forgot to say what they're called First one shows in the link, it's HW Monitor by CPUID, very trustworthy and awesome. Second is GPUZ by TechPowerup, again awesome and trustworthy.

I get sad when I see the frustrations, at the root of the issue here, cause people to take it out on one another. It's not productive.

This problem could be solved with great ease, and it doesn't happen. Just take the time to think about this.. It's depressing...

I think we'd most guess Gpu overheating, happens very often in notebooks. Also beware of malware that uses your Gpu to mine bitcoins, it'll push your Gpu to 99-100% usage, use windows malware removal tool. In search I think it's just 'MRT'. It'll update and scan, these malwares are notorious, especially for people who torrent games.... Makes sense...

Anyway if you have more problems, try that, and also post alll of your specifications, hardware, OS, anti-malware/anti-virus, etc. No such thing as too much info. GL

He's been around over a decade, and many others, even me, although I came very late to the party; used the demo for years, wanted to wait for more content, and then buy.

Anyway, why is it such an issue, and why is it so hard to believe, some of us are old, older... and have been around a very long time on the pc sim scene. I started building my own systems for the sole purpose of simulators in the mid 90's, so I got lucky, I was around for the golden years. Although I feel confident the best years are to come.

But, waiting sucks. We old farts are just more patient I guess?

First and foremost, is it 'only' LFS? If not, likely a dying Gpu or dying Psu. If it's only LFS, reinstall from scratch. Go to Microsoft.com in the download section grab the dxweb setup, update/overwrite your Directx Libraries. From there do a 'clean' driver install. Uninstall your Gpu drivers, download an app called Driver Sweeper, run it and remove any remaining files (If you're running an AMD/ATI card, look for and remove files related, the app makes it very easy, if Nvidia, do the same, it's very transparent. Proceed to download/install the latest drivers for your card. It won't hurt to download the drivers ahead of time.

Should get ya going, unless it's a hardware issue, if so, testing the Gpu is easy, Psu on the other hand will require having a spare on hand.

You can stress test the hell out of your Gpu with FurMark, nothing will burn it harder.

Because they all compete so closely, I'd shoot for the 6870 because of it's outstanding power consumption and much improved Tessellation performance over last gen cards. It's been reported they scale better, if you choose to add another card down the road.

Edit: I may be slightly biased, I was running two in Xfire for a bit before upgrading. But they were great, the power consumption blew my mind, and never had the typical amd driver issues, the 6000 series is a real winner, but so are the Nv 500 cards.

Do you want Eyefinity, do you require CUDA, you like PhysX? These are probably the most relevant questions.

Quote from Guthix :DUR TOP LINE i7 (980X and 990) ARE BETTER THAN TEH NEW 8-CORE AMD BULLDOZERS C:

Come on man...off topic, and heh, I seriously doubt it. Keep in mind, the 8130P will launch at $320, 8 cores, 32nm, incredible floating point ops, 3.8Ghz base, 4.2Ghz Turbo Core 2.0. Yeah... Anyway I really don't wish to discuss this here, it's rude to Scawen and everyone else. My bad for even replying to that... hehe

OT:

Quote from Gener_AL (UK) :Was about to mention as well. Let me know when you get your hands on trinity

Regarding the patch, Ive found a little bug I can reporduce, but Its rare and can be avoided.
Perhaps more a driver issue?
Not tested with Multi monitor on Nvidia or other GPU, but with ATI Cat 11.5 / 6800 1Gb

Start LFS Fullscreen > then alt tab switched to 2 displays (one 1650x1080 16:10 other 1600x1200 CRT 4:3)
Turned on eyefinity and calibrated CRT to match scale on LCD (16:10) swith back to LFS (black screen flickering cursor it seems)
Shift f4 is fine in window > options> screen change from FS 3200x900 to next one down (sill eyefiinity resolution) works fine.

Obviously starting LFS after calibrating screens is no problem.

I tried and was unable to reproduce the bug, but I'm still running beta drivers for my 6990. My setup is quite different tho, no scaling. Wish I had an idea for ya, I wouldn't know where to start. AMD's forums might be a good start.

Forgive me, it's the Zacate. I'm getting the Llano based notebook for my girl, once they start shipping. Little confusion.

It's the dual core, the new Bobcat cores, with integrated DX11 AMD 6xxx series Gpu.

Once they start shipping the Llano A8-3850 APU, ( Quad Bobcat Cores @ 2.9Ghz, Radeon HD 6550D graphics unit with 400 Shaders; clocked at 600MHz) I'll be grabbing a notebook based on that, and giving my Zacate APU based notebook to my son. The A8 will be my ultra portable gaming/editing notebook.

You must have made some great optimizations. My Fusion based notebook (Llano APU) runs the game, fully maxed out, in 1920/1080 with 8xMSAA/16xAF. Awesome, I can play LFS on the go now. It was decent before, but somewhere in the update something changed enough to keep the frame rates over 60 all the time, even with a full field, well done.
