the ufr could do with a little more poke, gets left behind the xfr on anything but the tightest circuits.

stupid lfs post race crashers going around giving everyone cancer...

what section of the tyres is getting cooked? what pressure are the rears at? Sounds to me like you've got some combo of too much camber / too little pressure. cooking r1's in 5 laps shouldn't happen on anything but a qual / hotlap set.

I'd suggest a poll might be a good idea. Personally I don't have any problem at all with it, sometimes it's useful to let a bit of steam out. Usually I'll do it with a bit of circle work, but it doesn't seem at all odd or wrong that people crash after the race to me. It's hardly a vindictive "I'm going to stuff this guys DFP" thing...

I've had lfs for quite a while now, in the last few months I've played much more than ever, a mate entered a league and I liked the sound of it. makes it feel much more like 'racing', you know what track you'll be on next week, you know who you'll race, you need to work out a set, practice to become as competent as you want. Previously I'd assumed it'd feel too structured / stuffy, but I love it. Don't seem to race public servers at all these days though 1.5 events a week mean I'm either working on a setup / hotlap, or involved in the event. Don't have any more time than that to spend with lfs.

avih... I'd encourage finding a league with the xfr/ufr combo, you really do get some great racing. Don't think it would really happen on a public server though, they take time to setup for the race etc...

I love the ferny bay rallyx in the lx6

was thinking the other day the 'synchronised start' seems a bit silly to still be around. Even just having to let go of a clutch button would make it much better, with the potential for false starts.

a fast setup is a good starting point, but to improve quickly I believe you really need a fast setup modified for stability. So grab those inferno sets, but remove rear roll bar and increase front roll bar, until the car is comfortable for you to push to the limit, without oscillating around the limit too much.

sitting on the inside has a signifigant benefit, some cars more signifigant than others. the xfr is potentially the one that benefits most, what with it's huge rollover tendency and all.

hobbling driver choice during pitstops to make up for other current flaws seems a little backwards thinking to me.

err, yes. if one person goes to the effort, as has already been done, then many people don't have to. more efficient that way.

an option to force it to always change both front or both rear tyres, if one needs changing, rather than making it lopsided...

it wouldn't necessarily make it fair and equal. not everyone drives the same way. currently it's very easy to get hold of good sets, it's not like only those few talented setup folk can go a lot faster than everyone else.
I'd be screwed, I like more oversteer than normal in fwd's and more understeer in the rwd's...

I've got the last round of a 5 round series of the fwd r's tonight... I don't think any rwd will ever be comparable for racing. maybe for 1 lap, but the main 'thing' with these cars is the way they utterly destroy front tyres if given half a chance. I still hate fwd, but actually *racing* these cars, working on race setups, managing overtaking lines without destroying tyres, is really very enjoyable. I don't think a rwd competitor in this class would suit. I guess if you made the rwd a little slower it could be interesting over the length of a race... but I still think it would take the charm from racing these things.

it takes a while to get the hang of all the setup options, but you should become familiar with the anti roll bars as quickly as possible. higher front anti roll bars will stop the car spinning out as easily, higher rear anti roll causes more oversteer / spinning. Adjust these until you can drive the car comfortably. Personally I'm most comfortable in an oversteering fwd (where throttle can be used to stabilise it) and an understeering rwd. (heavy throttle can be used to destabilise the car, light throttle will stabilise)
oversteering rwd setups have more potential, but understeering setups can come close and are *much* easier to drive.

I was almost going to post a similar thread last week
it 'feels' like the xfr's centre of gravity is too high. how is weight distribution modeled anyway, anyone?

after a year or so of lfs I finally decided a few weeks back to get stuck into some 'organised' races. Best thing I could have done, can't believe I didn't do it earlier. I've had some great races on public servers, but I've also had plenty of crap ones. An organised race means you're pretty much guaranteed a large field using competitive cars.

not everyone wants to bother downloading a setup every time they enter a new track / car combo. Thanks for posting this compilation up matey, appreciated.
