Your comprehension skills are lacking if it sounds like an oxymoron
60's are not low profile in the slightest, I wouldn't have mentioned it if they were...
Sounds seem definately improved. Gearwhine and gearshift are great additions.
I think the volume of the other cars is too low - startline with the fo8 or similar should be a cacophony of noise, currently the other cars are only just audible.
the lx4 has a muffled sound that is annoying to my ears. The engine noises still severely lack the 'character' of a normal engine at high revs.
I'll still be using csr at this point.
What makes it unsafe? My rx7 has 60 profile tyres on it (similar to the xrt I guess) and it never has any problems on the limit of adhesion with high grip, performance tyres. Performance tyres are available in higher profiles.
agree with farcar. some tracks with reasonable elevation change would be great (bathurst ) and if I had to pay I would, but I'd be just as happy for well designed sim tracks.
It is appearing as though LFS rounds any fractions down, instead of rounding fractions above .05 up. A number of racers in our league got caught out tonight, 36 laps at supposedly 1.1%= 39.6. 42% was still about 0.8 short, so fuel consumption appears to have been more like 1.18ish, which should show as 1.2. Obviously it's easy to allow for once you know - it's just not intuitive. I don't feel this is a major flaw, I don't expect it to be worked on instantly, I post it to assist with the development of an intuitive UI.
maybe they confuse temperature and longevity. adjustments for temperature (less braking force, higher pressure, more turn bias to the end of the car that's not as hot) is usually necessary.
you can already adjust every element of steering rate as far as I can see. not sure what Gunn is talking about, unless he means he wants a dfp / g25...
all 858 combos are hardly exciting new experiences.
An open modding system, with a core (but changeable) set of mod testers / confirmers / valuers, would rock. But I have no interest in pick up and play racing anyway, leagues are what I enjoy.
Sure - Scawen seems to have gone to reasonable lengths lately to allow some external fancyness, if he chooses to ignore this that's fine obviously, but figured it was worth a mention
only noticeable with external programs like pitspotter and CSR - it's quite evident that lfs is still spectating someone but just has the pits graphical overlay.
Really not sure whether this is a bug, improvement suggestion, or even technical assistance... but the shadow draw distance seems quite low, car shadows pop into existence and look rather odd. At first I assumed it was just my dynamic LOD setting, but I've been unable to find any settings or sliders to correct this. I only noticed because I'm sifting through replays making a movie...
Imho, lfs has some real funkyness with the way tyre pressure relates to forces generated, causing sharp spikes when the pressure is up, temporarily overloading certain wheels - and it affects cars like the mrt and lx's the most. Run the lx6 with 11psi in the front (max grip) and then try with 20psi in the front, if anyone wants to see what I'm trying to talk about
The lx's are a lot easier to drive and just as quick with low power side locking on the dif - try 20/50 if you're struggling with it.
Gene Wolfe's 'Book of the New Sun' series is head and shoulders above everything else I've read. Regarded extremely well by literary types, it's pretty damn dense reading - is written quite differently with a very interesting first person viewpoint from the far future, with a reasonable bit of internal thought / monologue. After reading this many other sci-fi / fantasy's fall very short for me with the way the author's draw so much influence from current social habits, and generally fail to create a truly fresh situation.
The games are designed for people with the money and desire to buy steering wheel hardware - doesn't seem surprising to me they are not designed to run on low end systems. Most games as they are released are tailored towards fairly recent systems...
the ability to alt-tab is worth the occasional blank screen to me Only happened a few times recently, so naturally I suspect something in the test patches.
yes, I am a bad person and didn't see that post
I also realised the cmd file for CSR works fine, you just have to manually specify it instead of browsing to it.
Hinirags - put this in your csr folder and point bfs to it. http://members.iinet.net.au/~cdriver/csr.cmd
edit: this doesn't work actually, didn't realise bfs could only be pointed to .exe files. Running bat and cmd files would seem a worthwhile addition Wabz??
Wabz - the latest release is not working well for me. every time I try to connect to a server it gives the 'host has a different game code' error - it's trying to connect to demo servers instead of s2 servers, for some reason. These are servers that would previously connect fine with BFS.
I got a black screen after exiting normally today. I joined 2 servers as admin, set them up, alt tabbed in and out a couple of times, exited, then I had a mouse cursor, and could do things but couldn't see them - I had to run a command window and make it full screen before I was able to see anything beyond the mouse.
