Just had my first decent race with any pressure. Started on pole, with Curtis Fung in second place who's qualifying time was 1:03.416. He really kept me under pressure for 7 laps, during which he was within 1 second of me, but then I pulled a tiny gap, and while I started to knuckle down with some fast laps he began to fade away until he must have had an excursion or something because he dropped back 10 seconds or so, and I could take the win. Hopefully I can start to work up the rankings a bit more now.
Well my PB is 01:03.345, and I normally get close to this in races. I might try using 4th from the uphill right hander though. I did try it briefly and the engine seemed to bog down too much, but I'll give it another go tomorrow.
After driving some laps in the rookie Solstice at Lime Rock, the gear ratios are very badly suited to that track. I'm on the limiter in 3rd through turns 5 and 6. The final turn is the only turn which works with 4th though.
I'll tell you whats really annoying me lately on Laguna Seca. It's in my nature to try and push the car as much as possible, and this means I often stick a couple of wheels of the road if I'm giving it a tad too much. I can't see why this should give me incident points. I'm not endangering anyone else, and I lose time doing so, so I already have enough incentive to stay on the track. IMO it's far too punishing, and should only give you incident points when you have 3 or more wheels off track, like the hlvc system in LFS.
The IP is 213.171.193.89 . I've tried using a proxy and that works fine... Just to note I'm currently getting internet temporarily, via a usb mobile broadband dongle thingy.
Hi guys, really sorry about missing the final two races. I've been backwards and forwards lately. Currently staying with my parents in a holiday home aka caravan, until a contract in a house begins in August. I've only just managed to get on the internet recently using a usb modem. Anyway, hope you guys have enjoyed and will enjoy the remainder of the season.
Was there a tyre physics patch / change since the spring? Because Greger Huttu's PB in the Solstice around Lime Rock is 1:01.8xx, whereas my pb is 1:03.345, and I can't see how anything under 1:03 would be possible...
But seriously, who gives a **** if he seems a bit smug from time to time. I hate the media attention, and I hate ITV worshipping him, but since I don't know the guy personally, I think it's pretty screwed up to start a thread just to vent your emotions. When he makes a mistake, he normally blames himself. I don't plan to become friends with the guy, so all I want from him is to be exciting to watch on the track. I think his driving style is awesome to watch TBH.
Jakg is right, a new CPU will massively benefit you.
I wouldn't recommend an E1400 though, as I would think the tiny cache would hinder performance a lot.
The best value CPU imo would be an E2180, normally under 50 quid. If you want performance, the E8400 gives massive performance and isn't too expensive.
Firstly, I forgot the race was starting 30 mins earlier than normal so I missed qualifying, but that's my own fault. So starting at the back I knew it would be an interesting race. First lap I had to get familiar with the combo, as well as trying to safely pass drivers, and then it was a matter of trying to close the (5/6 second) gap to troy and leprekaun. Unfortunately for lep he flipped at the chicane as troy passed him in the previous hairpin, but this meant I only had troy to catch up to. The gap seemed to take forever to close, as troy was pretty solid, but I eventually caught and passed him after 45 mins in or so for the win.
Sums my thought's up nicely. Most of the regulars here are now just picking any possible hole they can find and laying into it. I WELCOME iRacing. I think it's fantastic that we have finally got some competition, and some real progress in simracing standards and realism. It's about time IMO.
