i am used to calculate these kind of things on Liter/100km

Travelled distance:96273 Km
Fuel burnt:47794 Ltr
which is: 49,64 liter/100km (for comparison this is: 2,01 km/liter or 0.49 liter/km)

jesus, good this is only virtual... on my real live car i have like 6 liter/100km and i feel guilty for producing too much pollution...

imo, THIS is racing. if you want to be on your own for 90% of the time, play offline or do hotlaps. racing is about coping with people around you all the time. no matter if they are much faster or much slower compared to you. racing is not about laptimes. if you can't get away from the guys who are not able to drive good, then you are at the same level as they are...

try to get around the usual T1 crashes, try to avoid crashing cars, work your ass up for a better starting position and so on...

as you run with keyboard, we first have to see if you can handle traffic. so we will decide after your qualifying. as there is a 20 min. open qualifying with lots of traffic. if you want to be more certain, come this weekend on the oval-starters server.

thats why i said "if MORE then 90% of the poeple agree with it". i am not one of the 90% because of the same reasons you have mentioned yankman. for me lfscar is set to monday, because this is "my racing day". and also because when you look at the statistics, lfs has the most people online on monday.

but if there 19 out of 20 people for a change that date to sunday i can go along with it for one race. 18 out of 20 is NOT more then 90%.

if there is support of more then 90% of the drivers who want to participate in this event we can change the date to the sunday before or after the scheduled day.

ok what about this new suggestion:

3 x 60 minutes which will be 180 minutes race which will be 270 laps with a 40s average per lap. the 270 laps is in between of both joices so i think this will be a fair compromise and with the 3x60 we still have the 360 in the name for the event. one more thing which makes this even better: 270 laps are 503.310666 miles so we have a 500 miles race, 360 in the name and much shorter then a 360 laps race.

what do you think? fuel usage will be about 243% and with the R2 tire restriction we will have a lot of pit-stops and strategy going on during the race.

one more thing if we are going for this option, everyone staying within 50% of the race-winners lap will get his points for this event doubled up.

me and yankman did some testing this evening with the R2s. i just took my normal oval set and put on r2s, yankman had a modified set i think. anyway. we did 50 laps with drafting most of the times. the tires got hot but they did not explode. after 50 laps i did a pitstop and the pitcrew changed the frpmt right tire with >60% wear.

in conclusion to that we will have the r2 tire restriction in the race.

you now only need to do the maths for your strategy and maybe some more testing with your set.

yep true, you both are right. i wrote it down this way, its an error when transfering to the excel file

i've also noticed a problem in the aston race. its a misunderstanding of the caution rules:

#38 yankman was the leader behind the pacecar, followed by one or two cars a lap down and then by #35 schawo in 2nd place. yankman went to the pits during the caution, so the two lapers behind the pacecar ARE ALLOWED TO PASS, because they are not the leader. Schawo is not allowed to pass the pacecar, because he is the new leader at that moment.

so in simple words: if you are right behind the pacecar (no other car between you and the pacecar) AND NOT THE LEADER you are allowed to pass the pace-car.

the reason for R2 is mainly the FCY situations. i drive with R3 most of the times. they cool down too much and won't heat up barely after a FCY. R2 are heating up enough after a FCY because they have a lower working temperature. also your left front does not go that cold even after 120 laps not like with R3s. which enhances grip overall speaking.

it is true that R2 heat up more under draft and even more under bumpdraft. so you have to care about tires. thats just another facet of strategy. you have to think about when it is wise to draft, when do i need to pit in. when is it important to take it slow or to push. driving alone the tires last for about 120 laps in my testing with my setup and R2s. with this R2-tire-restriction tires become an important part of the strategy which has to be adjusted during the race.

before that tires were no problem at all they just get stone cold after 2 successive Cautions.

i am up for testing the r2s during heavy drafting this evening if someone wants to join me, i am on the event server. i say, if they last for about 30 to 40 laps under draft, then its okay to use R2s. if they blow up after 10 laps of drafting i see a problem with this new rule.

its different with bumpdrafting: bumpdrafting should be used to close a gap or to get away. not to drive 100 laps with it. you can get away from the pack with good draft or basic bumpdrafting after about 5 laps.

you also have to think about: in the beginning there are almost every 10 laps (if not more) a safetycar. in the end its less. most accidents happen in the beginning. at the end its more about strategy.

i would be happy if we have about 3 pitstops per car in a race which would make the races much more interesting during the whole race. at the moment you get through with 1 pitstop. if you are wise you do it under a caution.

iwished i could go to the finals, but lost concentration totally in the semis...

and then i made that false start. at least i could win the last race of that heat. anyway. nice event. allthough some of you REALLY chat too much. i will finish the results pretty fast for this, as i only have to transfere my writings into the excelfile.

we solve the second by having "the qualifying monday" for new drivers. so if you want to take part in lfscar, you have to come to those mondays where we have no league races on the fm oval starter servers. its like a 2 hour window, where an admin will watch the races. the races will be not the usual 8 lapers but like 15 laps races with mandatory pitstop and XRR only. i am not sure about the laps though. people who want to participate have to show their skills in these kind of races. its not about winning, but staying clean and be able to finish at least a race at this length.

i mean, you can't do anything about normal racing accidents. people make errors, but at least we can see with this system if someone is able to drive around in circles *g* for longer then 8 laps.

come to the server zesmutt. early enough. and prove you were able to handle the car and the circumstances. this is all i can offer. we might decide on the spot if you can race or not.

i know what you mean yankman. ive seen the fcy inscedents and you were the victim most of the times at least in this race. you even were not the leader in 2 fcy but once stayed behind the safety car and once you HAD to stay behind it. i see the problem, but i don't know how i should give you a reward for that.

the other thing with the track-reset and pits is, everyone had the same track and same problems. it is not the optimum but at least everyone has the same difficulties there.

the thing with the #0 car is, i've seen his restarts but all in all he did not cause a concertina this way. i will give out a warning for the #0 car. as i gave 5 pts. points to those who did not keep the speed and cause a concertina WITH crashs behind them. at least i gave the #0 a -10 pts. penalty for disregarding the rules and overtaking under yellow.

as you might now, ctra is running the bump and jump server now. they are able to track positions during a race on the autocross pad. i've talked to becky about this. and we might work together for the pancake event. maybe we run the event on their server OR we get connected for this event to their X-server. i hope this works out so the confusion will stop on this kind of oval. then we allways see who is the leader, and the pacecar will pick him out. i modified the track as well, so the pits are now NOT in the infield which will work better probably.

to be honest, i could even give out more penalties for some of the top drivers for crashing the pacecar, but i did not because the speed of the pacecar was too slow some times. even though the field HAS TO accommodate to the speed of the pacecar no matter if its going 10km/h or 150km/h.

for the oval tracks i will enforce the pacecar/overtaking rules anyway with the speed limiter which worked great in aston race imo. i am also thinking aobut a "no midrace join" for the sencond half of the season.

all in all as you might now we are now at event #5 after this event new registrating people need to have at least 2500 laps on the oval in total AND a pb with the XRR below 39.85 to be able to join the championships OR a ctra gold (but i am not sure if this system is still up) anyway. for a 3rd season, if there will be one, we will have something like qualifying mondays. only people who qualify on those mondays will be allowed for the series. but more on this after todays event.
