This ladder is now up and running and I've even added a couple of results. See: http://gentlefoot.com//LFS/for ... 2b4bf3e815b9496b1ba7556a9

Please feel free to join. It takes very little effort on my part so numbers are not a problem.

Also, we will be holding regular ladder nights where we all meet up, challenge each other and race head to head i.e. only two cars on track at a time and the rest spectating.

Great race wasn't it. Can't wait for the start of the season now with 32 car grids! Gonna be awesome.

Don't worry about the rant mate. So long as you don't direct insults at anyone that's fine. btw - I watched most of your race and you did a fine job mate.

Shame we had some lag. When we had that lag incident at the end of the start finish straight I managed to take the best top speed FOX time. Managed 223kph whereas all the other FOXs only managed 213kph lol. That's why I ended up running into the back of you mate. Had an extra 10kph and couldn't shed it quick enough

Check out the race results http://gentlefoot.com/LFS/GFCRace0_results.html#top lol

The first test event took place on Sunday and was a resounding success. A full grid of 20 cars made this an intense experience. We had 8 DNFs.

Congratulations to ATC The End for taking the win by a significant margin in the FO8 class. Somehow I managed to win the FOX class. Not quite sure how after being a lap down after 5

Links to results, judicial decisions and post race chat can be found at http://www.gentlefoot.com/LFS/forum/index.php

Final scores will be added shortly. There are several outstanding incident investigations open at the moment. Decisions will be made tonight.

Quote from FL!P :I've run into this error when using InSim apps. Open that application's config file (a file with a .cfg extension), look for an entry named "adminPass", and make sure its value is set to your current admin password.

Hi Flip- thx mate. I got an xml file but no cfg file. There is a section of the file that looks like this:

<ConnectionMethod>server</ConnectionMethod>
- <!-- server | relay -->f(clean);
<ServerAdminPassword />

<ListenPort>64999</ListenPort>

How do I add the password in? Like this?:

<ConnectionMethod>server</ConnectionMethod> - <!-- server | relay -->f(clean);
<ServerAdminPassword>mypassword</ServerAdminPassword>

<ListenPort>64999</ListenPort>

Also, how do I know what my current admin password is? Is it the one I use to unlock LFS?
LFS Stats Version for Patch W

Hi all,
Anyone know if there is an LFS stats tool that works with this version?

This new version is for patch X http://www.lfsforum.net/showth ... 3&highlight=LFS+stats

The old version I have doesn't seem to work (LFS stats! v1.34) doesn't appear to work either.

All I get when I run v1.49 is "InSim:Admin password does not match" and "InSim:Packet recieved before ISI Packet"

Can anyone help?

Quote from Shotglass :it does by definition thats the whole point im trying to make

I don't understeer when I trail brake so this can't be right can it?

Quote from Shotglass :the point is at turn in you need more lateral force from the front wheels than form the rears and you achieve that by a mix of load shifting to the front and higher slip angles at the front ... so by the usual definition cars would understeer all the time at turn in

Surely by increasing load over the fron tyres will result in less understeer. You always have higher slip angles at the front because the front wheels steer. It doesn't necessarily mean understeer.

Quote from Shotglass :i know thats the usual definition but doesnt that mean that a (properly trail braked) car is always understeering all the way to the apex ?

Again it depends on style. When I trail brake it's not to get the car understeering, it's to avoid understeer while I am slightly over the target apex speed during the time between turning in and hitting (or missing lol) the apex.

Quote from mikey_G :If you turn in really fasst, and exit the corner really fast, you're creating a big yaw angle. A big yaw angle doesn't automatically mean understeer or oversteer, it just depends which side of the car has a bigger slip angle.

yaw eh

Well a positive yaw value=understeer and a negative yaw value=oversteer.

Or reduce the front ARB and reduce front bump by a click. Remember if you increase ARB by more than a couple of clicks you will need to increase negative camber slightly to maintain the angles. Same the other way around - reduce front ARB and you will need to add some negative camber. The reason for this is that stiffer suspension deflects less and most suspension geometrys increase negative camber in deflection.

Quote from Mako. :The Fern bay-green course/ FOX formula car combo has a bug

It's simply Too Much fun!

I don't know why, but next to BL reverse, this is now my second favourite course.

Try FE Club on the Gentlefoot Formula Racing server. Dual class FOX and FO8 on this short course is intense when there's more than about 10 cars on track

This event is now called the Gentlefoot Formula Challenge (GFC)

There is a test race being held this Sunday at 20:00 GMT. There are currently 26 entries however, I do not believe everyone wil turn up so if you are interested but put off by the entry list don't be. I'm fairly confident that drivers signing up at this late stage could still get to race on Sunday.

Unfortunately it seems rather unpopular and may well be scrapped in a week or two - we'll see

Quote from Dru :Another ZWR'er you see Gentlefoot - we are interested in getting involved with this league if we can

Glad to see it.

As I mentioned in my PM if you enter this Sunday's race you will almost certainly get a grid slot. I reckon there won't be more than about 15 people turn up.

Quote from MAD3.0LT :it should be
1 to 3 1 posistions up allowed
4 to 10 2 posisitions allowed
11 to 20 3 posisitions allowed
21 to 33 4 posistions allowed

then 5 for any outside that bracket

this way no one can go jumping to far without fairness to others in each class

IE class
A
B
C
D
E = entry class

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll bare it in mind. Seems a bit over complicated though don't you think. I have enough difficulty getting people to read the basic characteristics of the GFC. I must have been asked "when are the races?" about 50 times and yet all that info is there in the forum. Besides - biggest ladder only has 9 people in it so far anyway

For this reason I want to keep it simple.

Quote from romus74 :If I was in a 9th position could I then challenge the player in the 4th position? A player in the 8th position could not.

Hopefully I'll find time participating to this later on..

Actually I've changed the cut-off to top 10.

"If you are ranked outside the top 10 drivers you can challenge up to 5 places above you. However, if you are ranked 10 or higher you can only challenge up to 2 drivers above you."

The above statement came from http://www.gentlefoot.com/LFS/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41

So if you are 11th you can challenge 6th but if you are 10th you can only challenge 8th. I know it's not perfect but to limit it to challenge 1 person above will never work because if that 1 person isn't available you have no on else to challenge.

Quote from sinkoman :I've been getting rear ended quite a lot online, and I think I figured out why tonight.

I was racing on a CTRA server, doing pretty good, when some guy rear ends me as i'm slowing down into a turn.

I figure "no biggy, i'm not perfect either, and I wasn't thrown off of my line. I won't say anything".

Then as soon as the race finishes he tells me "sinkoman, LEARN TO DRIVE".

I reply "what the heck man, you REAR ENDED ME!"

"LEARN TO DRIVE SINKOMAN! YOU BRAKED!"

"NO CRAP I HIT MY BRAKES! Learn to ANTICIPATE! I had complete right of way man!"

"Nobody brakes at that turn, LEARN TO DRIVE!"

Ok, so what i'm wondering is, let's say i'm following pretty closely to the rest of the pack, and I can see that i'm coming into the next turn at an off angle, so I hit my brakes and drop speed just a smidge, something that nobody else is doing. I apparently just misjudged, and didn't realize I could make it.

Yet the guy following slams into me at full speed.

Who's "fault" would you say that was? Mine or his?

I've been under the impression that whilst following, it's YOUR responsibility to correct your line for whatever odd actions the driver ahead of you may make, exactly like in real life, but i'm a noob, so i'm not entirely sure on this :\

You are in the right he is the in the wrong. You have to just learn to ignore idiots like that I'm afraid.
