If a user doesn't want to use the automatic skin download, he will get an error message for every single skin when he enters a server, that's quite annoying. So my suggestion is to remove the skin not found messages. There is no use for them because you can already see that there is no skins if a car is white.
That video is great, it shows that the AI is even capable of driving busses!
Seriously, of course modding shouldn't be done unless the devs allow it. But nevertheless it is great to see what the LFS engine is capable of. GTRs, F1, road cars, busses, even motorbikes are possible - that just shows how good it really is.
I just got the skin not found message and the LFS crash (same address) again. How to reproduce:
- Use 512x512 / 256x256 skins
- Connect to a demo server with somebody using default skin (e.g. xrt_default) on it.
- Message: Can't open : XRT_DEFAULT
- Leave the server, switch to S2 and connect to a S2 host (bug test server 2 in my case), someone with the same default skin has to be on the server.
- LFS will crash: 7c9206c3
Yes, but I've tried it several times now. Clicking LFS to bring the focus back, window, full-screen. No black screen, it just doesn't happen here. What graphic card / drivers are you using? Does it depend on the screen res / color / refresh rate settings of LFS / windows? I'm using the same (32bit, 1440 x 900, 60 Hz (built-in lcd)) for both.
I cannot reproduce it here. If I remembe correctly, I did never get a black screen while switching window/full screen.
What happens here is, that I can make LFS go fullscreen without having the focus. So LFS is on top, but I cannot click any buttons. If I click, I can make other programs (or desktop icons) popup over the LFS window, just for the time I click.
Maybe it depends on the graphic driver, if you get a black screen or only a LFS without focus as in my case. So I guess the problem is, that LFS can go full screen without actually having the focus. Is there a way, you can make it sure, that LFS always has the focus if being fullscreen?
Edit: ATI X1600 mobility with Mac drivers for Win XP (Bootcamp)
Please note, that some shortcut keys (spectate, enter pits) have changed, so most keys.pdf (including English and German) are wrong at the moment. I'll upload a new version of those soon.
Don't be fooled by that screenshot. The reason it looks so old is the fact, that there is no texture mapping. Add textures, lighting and a higher poly car model and it would probably look like the early v0.04 screenshots.
And please don't think that Eric built the S2 tracks in just a year after the S1 release. In fact he was working on Aston at least since mid 2002, so that's three years for that track!
Wow, that was really amazing to race online against 31 other people. LFS ran amazingly smooth and the FPS were ok as well on my PC. I've attached some replays, to show that LFS is really the best online racing simulator out there!
The devs had their reasons why the LX8 and MRT6 got scrapped. The LX8 was really undrivable (way too much power with zero downforce), try to increase the LX6s power with LFSTweak to see what I mean. The MRT6 was just slower then the MRT5 because of it's downforce - and who would choose a slower, similar looking car over the faster one?
