Quote from Warper :to get an answer from some well informed fan boys

1. I'd guess they are just using e-mail and phone.

2. Here are two pics of Scawen's gaming PC:

Yes, that's probably why there aren't any karts in LFS yet.

A simple solution would be to place some cones there, so the hotlap would get invalid when you try to drive on the other track config. But that's up to Eric.

Just put a "Yes, I'm a girl and I don't want to date you." on your F-keys. Or better race on private servers in organized races or leagues so they won't ask you the same questions over and over again.

Quote from ORION :It's a bit like the LFS wiki, which is a great project, but it doesnt work like it's now, because nobody knows the link.

www.lfswiki.net

There is already a sticky in the main forum, but maybe someone can set the URL in the title? Mentioning the wiki on liveforspeed.net could help as well.

Bah, why did you reveal it? I just found it by myself

Now that's mean. I'd guess Skidpad as well, but I cannot find that place in the S2 version

Edit: I couldn't find it in S1 either.

Quote from Fetzo :nice to read. nkpro looks great. but i don't understand why there are no lfs-league results in the magazine. it's not that lfs doesn't have (semi-)professional leagues.

I think the bright sky reflections are a bit too bright. Using a white skin, you can barely see any sponsor logos anymore. I don't think real racecars are made that reflective.

About the environment, maybe you can try to add some e.g. armco reflections for south city, grass and road for the other tracks?

No, I don't think so.

As far as I know the Blackwood Netcar track was based on the smx file as well. So you could try to ask either the authors of the track or someone who has some smx knowledge, like the ones who did the replay analysers or the LFS spectator, if they can write a smx -> 3ds exporter.

About the cmx export, why don't you ask Scawen? He's probably the only one who can answer that question

My opinion:

- Track modding - YES with an approval system, only approved quality tracks can be played online.
- Car modding - NO, except maybe experienced modding teams with a lot of physics knowledge.

The SMX export of the S2 tracks is available here:

As far as I know the devs haven't released any track CMX yet.

What files do you need? All skies or only sunny conditions? Can you post the filenames?

Quote from tristancliffe :I can't get passed the firewall

I guess you've already tried "Port 80 1" in the cfg.txt? LFS uses the standard HTTP port for the unlocking, so it should work with most firewalls.

Quote from B2B@300 :The FFB motor is a stepper motor and as such will have a positional feedback mechanism (in this case the optical wheel) Your pedals don't have that as they don't implement FFB would be nice if they did though

I doubt that this is a stepper motor. The optical sensor has nothing todo with the motor itself. What I meant is, that the optical sensor should replace the potentiometers in the pedals, because they are more precise and don't wear.

If you want to see such cars in action, try to visit the Formula Student Germany at the Hockenheimring (3rd to 6th August):

My wheel is working again

I've just opened it to check what's broken and thankfully only the cogwheel of the FF motor had slipped down the axle. So I put it back on and now it's all fine.

I also took some pics from the inside of the DFP. It's really interesting, for example they put a special sensor just to check when the wheel is centered to avoid the decalibration problems of the previous Logitech wheels.

Pic 1: The opened wheel. Circuit board with USB, power and pedal connectors on the left. The FF motor with the optical sensor on the right.
Pic 2: The optical sensor. It's identical with the ones used in traditional ball mice, technically nothing special. Why can't they use such a sensor in the pedals too? It isn't that expensive.
Pic 3: The circuit board with the microcontroller in the middle.
Pic 4: The steering axle with ball bearing. The cograil is just for turning limitation. Coming out of the steering axle is the wire for the wheel buttons and two lights. On the far left is the "centered"-sensor.

At Live-for-Speed.de we've got some space on the freenet FTP cluster. The server has a lot of bandwith (at least it could handle the S1 and S2 release ), so all the movies could be moved to that server.
