You seem to have much of knowledge of nK and that might give you some sort of credibility here (at least has in my eyes). But don't go guessing things concerning LFS development / release schedules
That's gonna be hard to decide. I'd prolly go for the brands they use in world championship level, ie Pirelli & BF Goodrich (WRC), Michelin & Bridgestone (F1).. WTCC uses Advan, that would be nice too. Good Year should be there too.. Falken? Nitto? etc etc.. Hmm. BFG is just a Michelin renamed in wrc.. You'll never gonna get a unanimous decision on that one
To me the name doesn't matter, but the actual quality, features etc. Like it has been with LFS, things are being constantly improved (although the pace might vary).
About track configs: Aston already has plenty of layouts, but since it seems it would be easy to make a few more of them I guess more can't harm anyone. But what I would like to see is a Kyoto circuit that doesn't have oval parts in it. Longer, more difficult etc.. IIRC Kyoto area doesn't have any unused parts as it is so I guess new layouts aren't happening anytime soon.
I can see the sms alert system being used by league admins and such.. Progress on physics, wohoo!
Lasting or remaining without essential change: "the universal human yearning for something permanent, enduring, without shadow of change" Willa Cather.
Not expected to change in status, condition, or place: a permanent address; permanent secretary to the president.
The future of LFS is supposed to be nice and shiny. When it's gonna be, I don't know. I'd like it to be a BANG too, without any useless progress reports - if I can't drive it yet I don't need to know about it!
LFS Benchmark has the max and min cfg files, I'd guess they are the definite max and min settings. Just to let you know, might be handy sometimes when debugging system etc.
I tried LFS for the first time in the end of summer 2002 IIRC (or autumn, whatever). I haven't really been seriously interested in any other sim after that.
Some download methods might change any spaces in the setup filename to _ which doesn't work. Filename prefixes need to be written with spaces, ie. "FORMULA V8_aston" shows up properly in LFS, "FORMULA_V8_aston" doesn't.
Right. I'm sorry the conversation got two of you banned in #liveforspeed, I don't know what the heck was going on. Anyways..
The bg pics I made aren't supposed to be rivals to the default images, they are just something I made because I don't like the defaults. The main reasons why I don't like the default LFS color scheme / bg images (my opinions):
Mixing of 3 types of bg images (real, lfs and abstract), although dev approved it doesn't make sense to me at all.
Different colors in each bg, while they look cool one by one, putting them side by side makes LFS look unprofessional (and a reminder, this is my opinion) and not very well thought of.
If people are changing their bg images to something else, maybe it means there's something to be improved with the defaults? Anyone's free to change them anyways, but it would be cool if there'd be no need to change them in the first place.
The screenshots I used to make my bg images don't actually have AA at all, had some probs with my PC back then. And the garage pic is even out of perspective because of some changes, I know it's crap. Quality wise they're generally bad, and I guess will look quite off when using non 4:3 resolution. But still people like them
Whining about the same, already mentioned things on and on won't affect the patch schedule (if there'd be one) either. You just make a fool of yourself and make people angry. If you'd have something new to criticize I guess it'd face a more positive audience here.
I agree with your opinions though, the bugs (or lack of refinement) are serious and affect the racing quite a lot. You just won't achieve anything by shouting about the known issues - might as well just calm down and start doing something else?
Water can be injected into the engine in small amounts, or in force fed engines sprayed on an intercooler. The main purpose is cooling, it cools the intake air and in internal injection reduces temperatures in combustion chamber when ending the compression cycle which in turn reduces knocking.
In short, it's used to get more power out of the engine
need for speed sucks for a reason...they don't tell the players that what you do in the game is impossible to do in real life.....that being able to pass a car @ 200mph by just tapping one time to the left or right doesn't happen in real life........it's entertainment, maybe a bad streetracing (ricing? ) simulation that still has nothing to do with simulating the actual cars and how they work.....compare unreal tournaments with the rainbow 6 series....you have the same thing there......man this is cool....i'll start writing like this all the time..!
Bleeder valves (or bleed valves) are used to cheat the wastegate by bleeding out some of the air going into the wastegate actuator so that the wastegate opens on a bit higher boost levels.
Hmm, that's weird. I don't know if the old (the one we had before the release of full S2 alpha) S2 demo can be updated to 0.5Q but if it's possible and you have done so then download the full LFS archive here: http://www.liveforspeed.net/?page=downloads
If you already have the full version downloaded and are trying to use it - I don't know what's going on. Maybe try extracting the files from the zip archive again, this time to a different folder and see if that helps. Remember to keep the folder structure when extracting
