Sounds have been like this for quite long. S2 brought some updates but they still are, like you said, the most WIP of them all. I don't know the reasons for not updating the system, but I wouldn't wait for an update either.
The sounds are the biggest single issue that keeps me from playing LFS. For crying out loud, I even purchased GTR just to enjoy some beefier sounds!
I could see cars like the LXs and Raceabout to be running with (semi)slicks on trackdays etc, but they really aren't racecars. What I'd like to see is a new bunch of racecars that'd have rollcages etc but not serious power. Something like a suggested UFR/XFR competitor
True, but that visor allows you to cut the helmet's own visor so it doesn't mist anymore
On topic, I wouldn't want to see this kind of realism, seeing the visor, any unnecessary reflections etc.. Annoying in real life, even more annoying in a game that can very well do without such features
Maybe roadcars should also have a reflection of the dashboard on the windscreen when you're facing the sun!
I prefer Canon's user interface, and I think their cameras are really good value for money.
£130 isn't much for a new camera though. If you're willing to go for 2nd hand cameras, I'd look for Canon G3, G5 or G6 whatever fits your price range. Or something from the A-series that run on AA sized batteries..
That's the best site I've come across when it comes to foreigners wanting to learn the Finnish language a bit.
Don't stress too much about moving here. Your school will most likely provide info about everyday things, there'll be people to tutor you etc. You'll end up grouping with a few of your classmates and spending your time with them.
Younger Finns understand English pretty well, so if you have something to ask (during daytime ), don't hesitate. I don't live in Helsinki myself, but I'd expect it to be a relatively safe city even by night.
You'll live through a cultural shock, no doubt about it.
Lack of real tracks is a major disadvantage, Eric's designs are cool and could very well be real tracks somewhere on the globe but they just aren't the same as the tracks we've gotten used to in other sims (or even in real life).
I've always liked tracks like Magny Cours, Spa and Brands Hatch in various sims (games). There's that little something in doing numerous laps on a track you know is fairly accurate to real life. No fantasy track can provide the feeling..
No, I wouldn't be satisfied (for long) with those jerky, jagged conversions of conversions of some old track models that you can download for other sims - LFS has spoiled me quality wise, but it lacks a lot of content.
EDIT: Imagining the money & hours that would go into making a real track into LFS with the same quality the fantasy tracks are, it would take ages. I can't see it happening, and it makes me sad.
Twincharging has been tried out in the past but controlling which one was creating the boost was too complex, or at least that's what I've read. Lancia's S4 Group B rallycar had a system too, and the drivers loved it's instant response whatever rpm you had. The latest attempt on twincharging (that I know of) by a car manufacturer is the VW 1.4 engine used in Golf GT. I guess they have got things working relatively cheap if they can afford using the technique in a production car..
AFAIK the big GTRs in LFS are meant to mimic JGTC racing, and like it has been said those cars have antilag systems. Albeit Toyota used NA V8s in their Supras instead of the inline 4 and the NSXs are back to NA after trying out the turbocharged way (IIRC). Instead of having trick tech in the current specs, I'd like to see XRR and FXR engines changed to something that better matches todays engines.
I know I already removed my skin because it was too early to actually be releasing a competitor skin.. But anyways, it's very nice that you didn't bother to ask if you could edit the skin or not.
S2 also has a built in skin download feature (upload to LFS World). So, there's a question one should ask before setting up a new skins forum, WHY? There's no point scattering the skins across several places.
Anyways. People should really start reading AND understanding these discussions, instead of just posting Forum would work better etc.. Forum discussions have brought up the most part of the patch hype, and the longer it keeps going the more disappointed people will be.
Also a thing worth mentioning, these little patches we randomly get to fix some NON physics issues are online compatible with each other, you don't necessarily need it to race online against people who already have the update.
nK reference was there just for what I typed, you have knowledge of it, but you don't have same knowledge of LFS. But people might see things as if you would know as much about LFS as you do about nK. Nothing more. I also like other sims, not just LFS.
What comes to my thoughts about patch completion and release, I'll say there's no point holding a finished patch and not releasing it. And like we can see, the patch isn't out yet. My racername could give you a hint for why I might know things.
