Quote from Zen321 :You can't have a setup to be at the same time well-balanced for every drivers and extremely performant as an absolute criteria.

For instance, a friend of mine has been racing for quite a while on WR setus, and he feels comfortable with the understeer it has (for stability). I can't drive those, because I don't like to be struggling to turn in.
My setups have a broader range of outputs with the exact same inputs, but it is quite harder to stay on the edge when going fast. While I don't have any problems to do so, he, on the other hands, find them unstable, and I find his really far from my driving technique.

But we have similar times... As I say again, a setup is a tool to victory. The better the tool is, the better the result will be. But give a good tool to a bad worker will always be worse than giving a bad tool to a skillfull worker.

It's the same with racing.

When we are talking about road cars in lfs (either fictional or simulated) setups should be balanced like real cars generally are. WR sets generally do not reflect the way any road car handles (or should handle). In my opinion there is no virtue in being able to race a setup that does not reflect realistic handling.

For race cars I am all for having setup options (within realistic parameters).

Quote from RedCoupe :It would likely be less equal if there was a standard set.
People have different driving styles, to be really fast the setup must be fit to the driver.
With only one setup it would only be fit to one style of driver, disadvantaging those with equal skill but different technique.

I expect a standard setup to be quite well balanced. Everyone would just need to adapt.

It's only natural for a car to suit one driver more than the other.

Quote from Freddy_P :Why can I not drive with the FO8 on Single Seater 3 ?
I have International B.

The system says "This car requires a International A licence."

International B should be enough. Are you sure you did not try the F1 car?

If it happens a few times in a row I tend to brake a little earlier than expected.

Quote from VoiD :Any thoughts or plans about ABS..?

For roadcars that are supposed to have it irl I do not see the point of banning it. It may compromise the seat of the pants feel but that is common in modern cars.

Quote from yaper :You don;t have to send it, it is perfectly described at LFS Manual page:

To be on topic. I'm always using shifter and wheel turn configuration which corresponds to the actual car. That's one of the reasons I bought G25 for.

Thanks, works fantastic!

Although I prefer to use the stick on cars that would have it IRL I use the paddles for the simple reason that it's not possible to configure the stick on a G25 for both sequential and H-pattern in LFS.

UP and down operate the same switches as 1st and 2nd.

I am too lazy to change these settings when switching cars.

They do deserve some credit for not ricing their cars though.

Quote from bunder9999 :he's got a point though, SS2 is usually empty.

Yes they are. But it's pretty useless to recommend everyone to stick to the tin tops. That's is about the same as recommending all football hooligans to start drinking beer.

Good racing can be found on SS2. A lot of people prefer the FOX over the FBM but the lack of people on SS2 is a turn off. I had some awesome racing there in the recent past. As soon as a couple of drivers are connected it attracts more.

Quote from Tomas Miranda :I recomend drivers to drive in CTRA Race servers, instead of Single Seaters, because the servers where you cn connect when you win better licenses, are always empty

Sounds like you rather want to be part of the problem than part of the solution.

Quote from BigPeBe :where other idiots are standing by the road and waiting to get hit by the car

Sounds like WRC

Quote from BigPeBe :You get points by how many idiots you bowl down during crashing the car.

Sounds like T1 on a Redline server

ss1 was not messier than it is today before the fox was replaced by the fbm.

My first car was a volvo 340 with a cvt and it drifted reasonably well.

If you do not have a lot of rear grip you don't need power.

Quote from chanoman315 :since new patch it sucks a lot!...

In what way? For me it was just a matter of creating a new setup and accepting slower laptimes. The driving pleasure is unchanged imho.

The FOX is still my fave. I never understood why most people prefer the torque-less FBM.

Quote from Bean0 :The driver change is instant though, so there is no gain to be had.

@ Joris - When you are spectating, you can press the 'T' button next to the name of a driver already racing. This is your Takeover request.

When the other guy pits, he will see an illuminated T next to your name, and can press this after the tyres/repair/refuel is complete to hand the car over.

The quickest way is just to start hammering the illuminated 'T' button when refuelling begins.

Never knew about this feature. Thanks!

Am I the only one who just does not know the routes on B & J tracks?

Do you all have some sort of satnav in your insim that I do not?

How do you perform a driver change? I did not even know it is possible at the moment.

Not a bad suggestion imho. A few square kilomters of dirt will do nicely.

After looking at the replay of the "race" you where banned for I don't think you should bother...

I would have liked it if it was there from the start but after having driven 73742km I can't be bothered anymore.

Quote from zeugnimod :I agree with Joris.

Obviously, when someone has 40% or more there probably is something wrong with his driving but a driver with a ratio of 15% isn't necessarily cleaner than a driver with a ratio of 20%. IMO.

Totally agree with that. I think this puts it in the right perspective.

Quote from Demon68 :Not true,
- Clean racers don't take to much risk so they don't spin that often.
- If you anticipate the right way you just drive around the accident.
- See point 2 and you don't get a yellow flag.
- It's the same for every one so you can't use that as a excuse

Demon, I think you are missing my point. I am not summing up excuses for yellows. All I am trying to say is that yellows are not proportional to cleanliness.
