I actually found South Park to be fairly intelligent about how they made fun of NASCAR.
Instead of how it's typically made fun of (i.e. "just turn left lawl or the drivers = retarded"). The eps decided to take a crack at the fans. Which to be honest a lot of them are very retarded.
What brought me to this conclusion is the pre-race interview when the reporters were asking actual technical racing questions and the drivers responded intelligently while Cartman was just like "YEEEEHAWWWW TURN LEFT". Shows great disconnection between Cartman acting retarded and the drivers being intelligent about the technical aspects of racing.
To me this also translates as NASCAR being much more than "just turn left".
Hit it really dead on tinvek. When I first went from LFS to iRacing, iR just felt horrible to me. But after some settings and wheel adjustments LFS now is the one that feels bad for me. After about 3 weeks of straight iRacing LFS just now feels lumpy and life-less...
For me, what has sold me to iRacing straight away is
1: sensative damage
2: persistent world license system (I loved CTRA btw)
3: very dynamic tracks. They all feel like torn, dirty, worn and bumpy real tracks while LFS tracks feels way too smooth and "sterile"
4: Very good content. (I.E. Laser scanned Spa)
All those just seems so much better than LFS for me atm. Especially the damage
Omg yeah, I've actually found out that the V8 Supercar drives more like a stock car than a legitimate touring car. Nationwide car @ the glen is going to be crazy
Weird love hate relation with daytona in the nationwide. Had a pretty rollercoaster week so far. Went up to 2.4x A class after promotions then an absolute spiral to 1.04 Sr.
So...I decided today I would race the daytona combo again.... LOL most intense session I've ever had in sim racing period. Had wrecks happening literally behind my bumper as if god was teasing me
So after literally getting collected in every single daytona and legends race. Today I turned it around and went from 1.04 to 1.7x
I can't imagine what will happen at watkins glen LOL. I'm actually surprised to see ppl there that are 10x more impatient than me. Once at a race I saw a guy try to pass on the apron. Ofc the entire field wrecked becase of that and that pretty much sums up my experiences at daytona in the imp b
Yeah...I know. I'm pretty sure I could have won that race I'm moving to the middle east And imagine. This was suppose to be a support and feeder series to the V8 Supercars
Now there's going to be a JTCC? Seriously, all of these touring car series are extremely redundant (and all of them have very small grids). I say merge them all (including this new effort of JTCC) and just have one massive premier asian series. After all that is what the ATCS was originally suppose to do  motorsports is a mess in asia and someone needs to seriously clean it up
Does that mean iRacing's physics are shabby? Let's assume that you are right and LFS's physics are better than iR's. LFS's damage system is crap to the point of non-existent, hot tyres feel like soap (which is what the new tyre model's suppose to change but it isn't here yet.....), and the tracks feel way to smooth and clean.
I think i'd still rank iR over based on all those things unless you feel that iR's physics are an abomination. (Which I can't imagine anyone saying)
Right, it's the same problem with P2P MMORPGs like World of Warcraft. When you buy a subscription and find out that you dont have time for it then you'll feel ripped off.
Your complaint is very common among any subscription based video game or service. But I will have to say that it is your fault for not utilizing iRacing. You paid a fee and you can utilize as much of it as you want. If you suddenly dont have time for. Well that's the gamble you took when you paid a fee.
Also, iRacing has a friend system atm So I would say that your problem was fixed recently
I dont understand why people here believes that iRacing's tyre model is crap.
Seriously, Silverado trucks at Texas Motor Speedway. I drove like I drive in LFS. Flat out aggressive. After 10 laps my pace went from scoring fastest to near fastest laps to 2 seconds of the leader's pace.
How in the world is that a bad tyre model? I was absolutely shocked at how realistic the tyre wear was (as in NASCAR the guys cant maintain fast pace either on old tyres).
I dont know about road course racing cause despite getting a Class B license I havent raced much since upgrading to the V8 Supercar, but I cant imagine for that to be more unrealistic than the ovals since they are the same game.
Likewise:
IndyCar at Chicagoland. Same thing. Very loose at first, then after 15 laps so tight that I sometimes have to lift slightly just to keep it from getting into the wall
At the Kyoto 500? Yeah sure, I actually got faster on older tyres. In fact, through out the race I didnt even have to think about tyres very much. Just as long as they dont get cold you're fine and you can drive as hard as you want.
Formula 1 '79 Lotus? Formula 1 Williams? And how can you want to drive the Jetta!!! A boring FWD over the V8 Supercar!!!
and BTW V8 Supercar isn't "american" it's australian. It's also one of the more powerful touring cars and the australian series is a beast to drive in
Also...did you forget about laser scanned Spa? And there's nothing wrong with american road courses. Actually America has one of the best circuits in the world tbh. Laguna Seca, Road America, Sebring, Mid-Ohio, etc
And NASCARs aren't as boring to drive as they seem in real life I bet you'll spin on your first time driving a CoT
Most people I've known who are skeptical about oval racing found themselves shocked when they try iRacing oval racing
What a *&$^ decision. Seriously, is Indycar suddenly getting too technical now? Castroneves didn't weave. He blocked coming into T1 because it's &^%$ing EDMONTON. An airport track. That runway is so wide that if you dont block you sure as hell are going to lose that position.
Castroneves turned outside to turn into the corner and Power was MILES away from him on the outside. Power even almost passed him on the outside so that tells you that Castroneves wasn't blocking or weaving.
Seriously, one of THE worst decision Indycar has ever made. PERIOD!!
On a happier note Milka Duno is going to get banned
I've always thought that the ChampCar field was really weak (and overrated) before ChampCar even fell. I mean ChampCar guys failing in IRL proves this:
Robert Doornbos:
3rd overall CCWS
16th overall Indycar
Graham Rahal:
6th overall CCWS
17th and 7th for two full seasons in Indy
Justin Wilson:
3rd, 2nd, and 2nd overall for his last three years in CCWS
11th and 9th overall in IRL
Oriol Servia:
2nd overall in his best CCWS season
9th overall in his best Indy season
EJ Viso hasn't done better in IndyCar than CCWS
The only driver that recently crossed over from CCWS into Indy that is successful was Will Power. But beyond him, when you analyze the CCWS and Indy field, you can see a massive difference in quality actually.
Europeans just keep mistaking IRL and CCWS as the same series. The only thing that would bring all this home is if Bourdais comes over to Indy and fails to become competitive (which seems likely)
