Just finished a 4 hour race on Aston GP with GTR's 2 days ago. While the FZR was the fastest car on track, it had to take 2 more stops than the XRR. So the XRR's could save appr. 80s over the 4 hours. Though if you take a very fast guy on the FZR and one in the XRR, (same skills) the FZR would nevertheless probably win over the distance. So you could say that the lower fuel consumption of the XRR doesn't make the car equal to the FZR even on longer distances.
Of course this only is my opinion and i could be wrong.
Well i also didn't saw the replay.
But imo if i don't know the guy that i'm trying to overlap i don't try to ban him directly. If he is blocking i send him a message (over the message shortcuts) to let me pass. I just looked at Ticks online racer stats and he only drove 694km until now. So he lacks a little bit of experience. I suppose it was a public race so i would have drove the race and after the race i would have talked to him, pointing out his error so that he could learn something out of it.
I would'nt have ban him right away. I understand that if poeple like Jet_CZE, n1lyn and norbi and etc... are driving against each other no one would like to loose. But hey it's no league race so there is nothing to gain or loose. For wreckers it's another thing, they destroy the fun, but for poeple that are new, banning them doesn't help. They don't learn by getting banned.
We all were newbies sometimes so don't be so harsh on the new drivers.
As i said, didn't saw a replay of this race and i don't want to offend someone. It's just a general opinion from me and not specificaly related to this incident.
I also hated WE from first day on. Only drove it in a FZR in a league, but never managed to setup the car in a way that i've had confidence in it without overheating my rear tyres. (propably i have the same prob as tristancliffe: lack of skill, cheers ) Nah i also say leave it as it is.
I think next incompatible patch will have some physics update (speeding issue with higher rides in front than rear i.e.), and perhaps some multiplayer fixes.
Well if this wasn't a prepared video (like the intro says) i have to say this is crazy and irresponsible. Driving in that manner through a city (here it is Paris late 70's or early 80's) and putting other lifes at risk has to be punished in a harsh manner. It always was my conviction that pushing to the limits is something you do on racetracks or closed areals, but not on civil roads.
I just tried a last time to improve my setting and succeeded. Was only minor changes, front anti-roll bar and wing settings and it works. I improved my hotlap my 8 tenth of a second. If anyone wants the setup, i uploaded it here.
It's not perfect but at least now i have an idea of some of the problems.
Well perhaps i'm oversteering with that set cause of my driving style, don't know. I tried a test out of Unlimited's hotlap replay and i was instantly almost 2 sec faster then i am with my set.
As the title says it i don't have a clue for the FZR setup on Ky Gp long. Tried the hummer setup that is at inferno's homepage. Too oversteery for me. Changed it a lot so that it suits me better, but still i'm feeling very uncertain on this track. Now i don't know what to do, if it's the setup that is crap or if my driving is crap or if it's both. I'm posting my setup here but perhaps anyone has a neutral setup and is willing to share it, perhaps it could help me.
Would be nice if i could get some help on this one, thanks.
Oh well a year ago i would have loughed at Old man racing and F08 (well we hadn't S2 than, i know), but after they started the Grand Prix Masters i only can think of one word: Respect. They still are fast, the old men.
Well i can imagine that for the M6 you can change options cause of many things: If you drive in normal traffic you probably don't need the full power, so it is "down-tuned" through motor managment to decrease the fuel consumption (would be logical). Race cars also don't run on full power all the time, look at the old F1 turbo days. They had other turbo pressures for qual than for race cause with qual pressure the turbos wouldn't have last for a race. Or today when the safety car is on track, they change the mixture and some other things to save fuel. Don't know how it is now but when changes were still accepted between qual and race they even drove with less revs in race than in qual.
How about this: The beaming option should be a server side option so that you could block it (so if you wanna go to pits you have to drive all the way back). Instead of the beaming, If you ran out of fuel or crashed very badly there could be a time out where you can't drive , like in real life racing, it takes time to get a crashed car back in the pits.
P.S. for the ovals a yellow flag that applies on the complete track like in rl should do it. only problem at the moment is that there is no penalty for passing under yellow, at least i never saw such a penalty.
For me it's the same as for Hyperactive. Started on FXR and then went to FZR.
FZR = + Fastest in overall speed (cornering and topspeed) very good acceleration
- More fuel consumption and tyre wear
FXR = + Easy to drive (and even fun as much as i'm concerned) less fuel consumption (tyre wear i don't know)
- Overall the slowest car of the three
XRR = + Fast in corners low fuel consumption and from what i've seen low tyre wear too
- Slow acceleration (race starts ) , hard to drive imo
I think that could be accurate, it's at least the experience i've done with the 3. I didn't drive the XRR many laps cause it don't suits me so it can be that my opinion of this car is wrong.
I just looked at the requirements of the FILSCA for new simulators and found this : Simulation Approval
.
.
.
(5) FILSCA Members shall agree to use following basic requirements in their evaluation as to the product acceptance as a FILSCA simulator:
.
.
. (iii) The ability to identify a real-world counterpart wether current or historical.
.
.
.
(x) Damage levels ... must be adjustable by the hosting modules upon the decision of the league managers /administrators.
Seems that counting these rules LFS has a bad chance to get accepted unless if it would be a MRT5 or RA racing series.
In that case i come up with this ratings (For concistency i have to made 2 categories: short races and long ones cause i think there is a huge gap for me between the 2)
Line 6
Consistency short races 7
Consistency long races 4
overall consistancy 5.5
I think it also depends a lot on the track you are racing. I.e. when i started to race in the ESCC (GTR's) the first race was on WE Int, there you had a good chance to overtake someone on the start/finish line cause it's long and you could slipstream to pass. Then again later we had a race on Kyoto nat in which i've got stuck behind a slower car but no matter what i've done i never was in the position to overtake but still it was challenging to try (at the end i overtook him but with a risky manoeuver). Last race was on Fe Green which was pretty difficult to overtake someone with the gtr's don't know perhaps cause of the short starights. But i must admit in the league i'm often involved
in close fights. On the other hand on public servers the only challenge i have is when i start from behind (exception is when there are fast drivers on it and most of them also drive leagues). So in my opinion GTR's are great fun if you drive in a league where the drivers are all skilled ones but on public servers the gap is sometimes that huge between drivers so that you sometimes drive many laps without any fighting.
Well than i'm somewhat of an exception cause as it has often been mentioned that this "bug" could make cars faster, i'm still not using it cause it's a cheat imo. Well you mentioned the exeption of oval racing with formula cars but i think on normal race tracks setting up the (race) cars front higher than the rear would result in a take off on high speeds like the ones we saw on the Mercedes CLK-GTR (think it was) in LeMans (was it 1999?). P.S. : I know that they had other problems on the cars but essentially this is what would happen imo.
Thanks for the replies, well seems like almost everyone is happy in their teams.
@mrbogeyman: yeah sure i'll pass one of the next days to take a look how serious you are
I've asked me this question what it would be like to be in a team? The question came up first when a team asked me if i'd like to be in their team. Well i didn't really had an idea about how it would be in a team what it could possibly bring to oneself, as you're probably not driving better or worse if you're in a team, so i ask the poeple in teams what is it like?
