I also don't think that it's "geeky". Most of my acquaintances know that I'm competing in leagues in LFS and all have different opinions. The motorsport freaks are interested others think it's crazy and others don't care. Well everyone has a right to have his own opinion. (Although funny as it seems, some of the critics tell that it has nothing in common with real driving but when I race them in real life in karts and beat them, they tell something like it is because I have a lot of practice on the PC illepall crazy world )
What graphics card (and drivers) do you have?
ATI Radeon 9800PRO (Catalyst 6.2)] + ATI Control Center
- Was LFS in full screen when you started up?
Yes
- Did you use ALT+TAB before you recreated the bug?
Tried both
- Did you ever get this before the U test patches?
No I never had the bug, but tried if I could have it
- Can you reproduce it every time?
No
EDIT
Just entered a server. LFS was full screen but not selected as activ window. Still showed up. I've Alt-tabbed it as active again. After that i pushed shift+f4 and bang: Blackscreen
I just tried it out. i was racing on the Redline Server with the FOX this morning. After I read this thread I just tried the CSR (and the FOX sounds from LFS database). And actually I was going faster. But I think it has to do with the fact that I can't hear the tyres as much as with the original sounds, thus leading to push harder.
- 10min Practise
- 15min Qualifing (gets split into 2 groups A & B)
- +/-40 min = 20 lap group A (grid positions from qual)
- +/-40 min = 20 lap group A (reversed grid positions from qual)
- +/-40 min = 20 lap group B (grid positions from qual)
- +/-40 min = 20 lap group B (reversed grid positions from qual)
- +/-60 min = 30 lap Final A & B (top 50% from each group go into the final)
Which would be around 3-4 hours. is there any soace free at the moment?
Yeah the quality of this mic. isn´t too good. It hasn´t a frequency band that is high enough. Sounds a little bit like it was on Phone (which is when I rememebr right around 150Hz - 3kHz or 4,5kHz don´t remember), so what it means is that higher frequencies are cut out and thus making the voice too deep.
Nah when XP was announced and launched on the market, lots of poeple told they won´t change to it (lots of Bugs, security issues, Mickey Mouse UI etc...) . Even a lot of poeple I know didn´t want to change and what happened? After they bought a complete system they automatically had it installed, or at the end they installed it for whatsoever reason. As I see it there is no reason why Vista shouldn´t go the same way.
You won´t believe it but at the end it was quite fun riding the XRT. Exhausting for sure but fun (and I´m no drifter and Rally or Rallycross are not my favourites for sure)
Could have been better, really. In the HeatC Race I was doing ok but right as I could attack Mike (who had fried his rear tyres at this point), I experienced a massive drop in fps and it was just undriveable. I don't know what caused it but I think it was the automatic Windows update notification, not certain though. So I drove slowly back to pits and after +/-1 min the frames were ok again.
Heat2 race was also one of these kind of races which you better forget. Again I was doing ok when Peter attacked me at the end of the start/finish straight, touching my car at the right back. I could recover it but at the entrance of the muddy part he tried again and turned me around.
Then the feature race had a similar situation again with Peter at the end of the start/finish staright where he also turned me around.
Usually Peter is a fair driver, at least I drove against him in ESCC and the 6h Westhill and nothing of this kind ever happened. I don't know what happened to him yesterday, he was unfortunatly overaggressive.
Well after the crash in the feature race I had to slow down cause I made a dumb error: I've didn't put enough fuel in the car to make 35 laps. Actually I don't know why, but I only put enough to make 30 laps, so I had to manage my fuel consumption.
Wow I don´t remember how I found out. I think it was something like this: I´ve searched the net for freeware (racing simulations) and/or Indy programs and soon discovered LFS. If I remember correctly it was around the same time I´ve discovered Racer (or how it´s called).
Do you mean to start out of pits for hotlaps and quali with the Pit lane IN/Out Event? In this case I would agree, yes that should be the way to do it (as discussed several posts above)
But I don't understand what Break Press Event and Accel Press Event means.
One possibility to make it without the map would be the use of a pitboard (don't know if yopu call it that way) everytime you pass the start/finish staright. And you would need a radio voice, that tells you race informations, telling you if someone's gaining on you or vice-versa etc.
I like this idea, I´d use another color code though.
Here´s my idea:
Place Colour
1st Yellow - as they are now
2nd Purple (I fear that light yellow will be barely distinguishable from the yellow)
3rd Green - as it is now
4th Red (as it is a very important thing to see where the car behind you is)
5th Orange - as it is now
6th Orange - as it is now
Perhaps also a different color for cars that ar one lap down, blue would do it
Left paddle, R3 and Select do force feedback modes.
The left LED will blink once if you change to the older (softer) Force Feedback
and twice if it changes to the new one.
FF strenght (in Windows gaming options) 100%
Spring and Damping 0%
Central spring on but set on 0%
Rotation is set according to the car in game
In-Game
FF strength between 50 and 75 % depending on car and set
Rotation is set according to the car
Wheel turn compensation 50
Throttle/Brake centre reduction 0
Remove deadzones: Yes
There's an option to set the FFB back to the old fashioned like it was on the red momo and the black etc.. But I can't remember the key combo, it's something like L3 and left paddle or so. Perhaps anyone can remember this?
@jspec
Actually you don't need a 3rd hand even with more then 360degrees, it's just a thing of practice. I also had troubles at the beginning with the road cars (720 degrees) to catch oversteer. But now it's better and I can countersteer fast although it's still not perfect, but I'm working on it
