Longer races would be nice yes. But I don't like compulsory pitstops cause there aren't many options right now in LFS. The best way to go would be a splash and dash as late as possible. So in my eyes this has nothing to do with "strategy".
Is there a schedule yet for the last races?
STCC round 9 was planned for the 3rd June but how about the other races?
Maybe we could also fasten things up, doing 2 races per month?
If we look at all the endu races and other races that are long enough to force a pitstop (forced by the limits of the gasoline tank, with some cars limited due to tyre wear) it shows up that pitting as late as possible is the way to go (i talk about LFS not about RL, as there are indeed differences). So talking about strategy in LFS is a bit of non-sense. And with forced pit stops it's the same, pitting as late as possible is the way, so even forced pitstops are non-sense. I think the main prob is that the tyres wear down in an "optimal" way and there are nosuch problems as graining etc, etc... . So you're faster with a worn tyre then with a new one (expecting that you have the same fuel amount in your belly).
Mmh well that was a real bad start for me in OLFSL. I started 8 and finished 7th but 3 incidents in 1st laps (which I couldn't avoid) put me at place 17 after 1 lap. So I had to fight my way back.
1 thing I want to clarify:
I had an incident with Hoschi in the 2nd grand curve where I was also told that it was my fault that we made contact and both of us crashed or almost crashed. I think that's not for me to decide and surely also not for Hoschi (as we both were directly involved) but the stewards should decide on this. (I post the lap later, forgot to memorize it)*
BTW: Even though I'm no fan of the RAC (it simply doesn't suits me) I enjoyed this race, it was as mentioned somewhere above intense.
Bout the lag: Yes there was lag, but to say they have the worst servers is a little bit exaggerated. I saw much worse servers in leagues.
Well i'm sorry that the series will come to an end before it even really began. But that's life I suppose. It was one real special project and I think it could have become somewhat of a "revolution" in simracing. Well we still have some races to prepare for.
Thank you Becky for a fantastic series and for all the work you've put in it.
And also thank to everyone else that helped in running the series.
I have no problem running LFS on my PC with all options on and max AntiAliasing and full Anisotropic Filtering.
Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ (No X2)
1024 RAM DDRII PC667(atm)
GeForce 7600 GT AGP (atm)
Creative SB X-Fi Elite Pro
But on my girlfriend PC i definatly run into trouble when:
- I let the AI do a race against themselves or me.
- There are a lot of objects in a layout or in autocross mode.
Specs:
Intel Core 2Duo E6600
1024 RAM DDRII PC667
ATI RADEON X1650 PRO PCIe
Onboard Sound
I'm asking because the problem is that it changes a lot in setups. And Scawen
told that he hopefully will release X in the next 2 weeks, so that would be 1 or 2 days before the next race.
Nah I used AVG for 2 years but I switched back to AntiVir because there's a lot of things that AVG misses. AntiVir is probably the best free AV Software you can us atm. I think the best option is to switch it off while you're driving. Even if you should forget to switch it on again, after a restart it starts automatically.
I agree with Cue-Ball, I'm also no hotlapper, still I use the mode to test setups. And I'd also like to see the cars starting from the pits.
So why not using single-player mode?
Plain and simply, don't you ever drove a lap that was so fantastic in single player mode, that you whiched you could upload it?
I sometimes have and if I try to reproduce it, it doesn't work anymore.
That's why I practice in hotlap mode, to be able to upload an hotlap if by any chance I produce a fast one.
Probably the change of tyres is only meant to reduce the grip, not the balance of the car. And I think that doesn't "worsen" the handling, it's only making it slower, increasing the braking way and slowing it in turns.
Something's bothering me. I hope that the "new" diff ain't gonna replace the closed diff just because you can make it behave almost the same. If very high preload settings showed to be faster then "normal" ,rl ones then it would be useless. Well I hope that this ain't the case but we probably have to wait for more laptimes/setup data.
Actually I sometimes was cutting through intentionally and still didn't gain time. Don't get me wrong I've cut through to avoid the stupid AI, not to gain an advantage.
While practicing for the next race I also gone wide sometimes there, but It didn't really give me an advantage. I always had trouble when rejoining the tarmac, I've got nasty understeering and had to slow down (at the end the time gaining of the grass section and the time loss on tarmac added up).
