Sounds like the physics are extremly random, sometimes you spin just because it pleases the program and sometimes you spin because you deserve it.
Btw what became of this LFS section they wanted to make. Few weeks after they started this thread here in the forum no new information was released about that?
Well i can imagine that if it turns out that after the patch some other physics updates have to be made, then the hotlaps will eventualy surely be resetted once again in the S2 Stage. But i rather welcome a reset of the hotlap times, brings some changes, some sort of new challenge. Like a race, when it's over it's over and you concentrate on the next one.
Well only thing that I have to complain (shame on me) is that the tyre brandmark is Cromo Tyres. Now normally you don't see GoodYear Tyres or Bridgestone Tyres on the rims, rather then GoodYear Eagle or Bridgestone Potenza.
Well if you take a look at my ESL race at Westhill 3 weeks ago, you can see that fast
means something around 1:33-1:35 in race (R2's, 18 laps per stint but I'm working to get 19-20 laps out of it). (But btw this was a bad race for me with much car problems) And of course I'm not talking about the real pro's that can do 1:32's -1:31's in race.
Now the big unknown is the new patch, if it comes out before the race the setups eventually need some reworking if not even to be built up from scratch.
And also the strategy will probably need reworking, as far as we know tyre physics are gonna be updated to counter the low speed grip issue. But how about tyre wear, we don't know.
If this is gonna be changed then it would perhaps lead to the result that you have to put an harder compound for the race, which also means that setups need to be adjusted to that.
Yeah that´s strange. But it´s the same thing with Amsterdam. When someone tells you that he´s gonna make a trip to Amsterdam everyone thinks that he´s gonna buy something there (if you know what I mean)
Well because my teammate's driving the FXR perhaps. And out of that thinking , he has plenty of drivers to choose from in our own team that practiced Westhill on the FXR So I'm in a bad situation, I've got to find another driver that is fast and consistent, of course I'm also looking at our own team. If anybody from us will get the FZR right then I shall drive with him. 3 of us are enlisted in this series, so that makes 3 2driver teams for this race from us.
Which brings me a little bit off topic: I've been asked by a speaker from the radio on which I speak myself if I wanted to be interviewed by him about LFS. That's gonna be in about 2 weeks. Well I'm gonna make that interview as LFS definately needs a push here in Luxemburg but I also told him that it would be best if we take also guys from other games. Not everybody wants to hear about racing, so I have to find out now which people here in Luxemburg are good in other games ( in terms of leagues).
Perhaps it would also be nice to know if the tyre wear is changed, as for example higher wear making it impossible to do long runs on R2`s or at least changes in a way that you could try some tactics (R2´s faster but more wearing --> pitstop sooner, R3´s slower but lasting longer --> later pitstop). Also at this moment R4´s just seem to have no use atm.
That´s nice news indeed.
As for Aston, some told that there are not too many layouts that are nice, I think exactly the opposite of this track. As National already is nice, for the faster cars. Historic is also nice and challenging, especially when you are behind a car at the uphill chicane, very easy to get beside the track there. Also As GP is a great track imho. From the longer tracks, Historic and GP are my favourites. Kyoto long just don´t works for me, I have to work really hard to get a medium laptime there but perhaps with the new tyre physics it will become better, wo knows.
That´s right an that´s exactly what happened to me 2 months ago. Now other programs were not so sensible and only LFS had CTD. So I didn´t assume that it was an overheating problem although my system has this problem from time to time (due to a thing that happened which is not important here). Fact is that after trying everything from changing settings to reinstalling LFS, I looked at the CPU temperature and it then became clear that it was an heating problem. As Orion said the temp was not that high that the CPU would shut down but high enough to generate errors and thus making LFS ctd.
And it was CPU for me not GPU.
@SuperUK,
well if you cleaned everything than it is clear that the problem lies somewhere else.
Have you tried to install a fresh version of LFS or did you just reinstalled backup files (if you´ve made some) from the old LFS version?
Could be an overheating CPU, had this once. Clean your fan and/or your cooling ribs. But be aware to know how to do this, don't want that you damage your cpu and/or motherboard. Essientialy you have to take your cooling parts (fan and ribs) from your cpu and then to clean it. If you don't know how to do this it would be best to let someone that has knowledge of it doing this.
Well the new patch would spice things up for me if it was released in the next days. Thursday Ger EAS Race, friday 2nd quali in MoE, saturday 6h Kyoto MoE and sunday is the next round of Score GT Challenge. Probably the car settings will be wrong with the update and that would leave very few hours to redo 3 different setups that works fine. But on the other hand I also can't await the patch.
Well in short words, I had the same prob.
Turned out that my CPU Fan and my cooling ribs were dirty and thus hadn't their full cooling potential anymore. So in short words my CPU overheated. Not so much that the CPU would shut down, but only for LFS to do a CTD.
Well I normally don't watch other teams close by, but it surely is a (bad) surprise. Never came into my mind that such a successful team could stop. Well time changes, think I can only whish you luck in your (real) lifes.
What about this situation: I am partially at my home and partially in my girlfriends place, can I unlock LFS on her PC too, for my uses (she doesn't race LFS and even doesn't understand how anyone can do virtual motorsport )
Are you bored of racing alone?
You have no idea how to setup your car?
You wanna talk more then just , Good race, sorry and cu?
You want to race in team championships like MoE?
You think you're doing fine on the track?
You want to share your passion for racing with other guys?
Then apply for the ITEK Racing Team!
The ITEK Racing Team is still young (founded in November 2005), but we are having good fun all the time.
As team we are participating on the MoE and we are commited to do our best.
Sharing setups, help in technical and non technical matters, team races and so on... all that comes along by joining the team.
On technical side we have one LFS server ( [ITEK] Racing Team ) and one Teamspeak server up and running.
