Yes yes I know, as I said this was only for season start, I never intendet to do more than 2 threads for future races. Well maybe I'm gonna put everything in one thread in future.

Well as I wrote in quali thread this was only because its the season start. Someone suggested making 2 threads in future, one for prequal and qual and one for the race. Either way, I'm gonna look at the results of this poll and stick with it.

Well I asked about this already in the Quali thread

Wow this is one I didn't play for a long time . Wel when it came out I liked it very much. The rain is what impressed me at most in this time. The wet surface of track just looks great. (I know of no other game that matched that so far). In short terms: Physics are nice but there's only one car behaviour model for all cars. Only difference are the horsepower. And then again, the engines behave all the same, only hp and rpm's are the difference. But due to the rainy condition graphics and physics, it's worth a try. Man I even think I'm gonna install it right back on my disk now

Yes, well I reported on the practice as this is the first race. But in future I will only make two reports: Quali (included in this pre qual news) and race. But what shall I do with the report of this race?

Well I have a question to you all. As I started this (making F1 reports)I am also gonna post a report on the race tomorrow . Now detail wrote why I didn't post in an existing thread. Well I thought it would be easier to find the news one wants if there are more threads with different titles. So now I ask your opinion, shall I start a new thread with the title F1: race in Bahrain or shall I post the report in this thread?

Well Clownpaint, seems you've got a real good point there. it's true that it is non sense to waste fuel in times of such resource shortages.

Well I was excited. There was never a boring minute. BTW: Update on Montoyas problems from yesterday. There was nothing wrong with the engine or engine mapping. They simply put in the wrong gear ratio. (At least that's what Norbert Haug said and he was not pleased with the comments of Montoya)
F1: Qualifying in Bahrain (now Race in Bahrain)

At last! That's how I felt about the new qualifying system. At last we saw action on the track. Don't get me wrong, for a F1 enthusiast like me, the one car qualifying was also interesting, but for most spectators it's surely more exciting to watch a track full of cars. And it was exciting.
First quarter was interupted due to a crash by Kimi Räikkönen. His left rear suspension broke, taking the rear wing with it. Due to the debris on the track the session was temporarly interupted (4min 34 s before the end) At 14:19 Bahrain time the qualifying was continiued and every driver drove out of the pits. Ralf Schumacher was a victim of the traffic, only driving the 17th best time and thus forced to stay in pits for the next sessions (due to the new qualifying regulations).
As expected also the Super Aguris and the Midlands failed to be under the 16 best.

The second session of 15 min was a little less actionfull but also exciting. What showed up in the winter tests proved to be right: Toyota is too slow at the moment, Jarno Trulli only took place 14. Surely a big disappointment for them.

For the last session the resting teams (10 of them) had to put in their race fuel amount (also due to the new regulations). So what did they do? Well they drove as many laps as possible just to burn their fuel, and in the last minustes they took new tyres to get a fast lap. Michael Schumacher took the pole, Felippe Massa the 2nd place. So you can say that Ferrari is back, at least in the qualifying. the world champion Fernando alonse only took 4th place but the times of the top drivers are all very close. Williams, BMW Sauber
and Red Bull were also fast putting all one car in the top ten. For the race Räikkönen is surely gonna have trouble as he has to start from last place. Well
the new system for qualifying proved to be good in terms of excitement .

1. Michael Schumacher (Scuderia Ferrari) 1:31.431
2. Felippe Massa (Scuderia Ferrari) 1:31.478

Update on Montoyas engine:
The McLaren engineers decided to not change the engine. The speed difference is due to different engine mappings, the engines themself have no (mechanical) differences.

Yes with the same RPM as Kimi he drove 7kph slower than him on the longest straight (not on the top speed that have been recorded by the traps, but in general, that's what they say anyway). Well it doesn't look too well for McLaren. Also the discussions about the V10 that STR uses started all over again cause Liuzzi was in the top ten.

Update:
Apparently it seems that Kimi Räikkönens car had electrical problems.

As soon as you leave an host, if it was wanted or not, you still have a temporary replay file. It's located in your mpr folder and is called something like temp_mp.mpr. To save it you have to rename it.

F1: 2nd practice at Bahrain and 1st conclusions
LRB_Aly

Second practice is finished. It's perhaps a little bit early to draw conclusions but there are still some interesting things that happened. First of all ,and that could be very important to the qualifying and the race , turn7: Many drivers had problems in the braking zone of turn7, locking there front left tyre up and also some drivers had to take a wider line through it. This is surely one thing that is gonna important in the race as the tyres don't take lock ups to well. In the early stage of the practice Felippe Massa had this problem and when he went back to pits we could see on a close up of his tyres that they did look very bad. For Toyota it didn't go too well, some poeple supposed this after the winter practices, the car is just too slow so far. They've also had a technical break down on Trullis car (transmission hydraulics).
But not only Toyota had a break down, McLaren had also. 19min before the finish Kimi Räikkönen had to stop. So far the only information available is that it wasn't an engine damage.
Surely a surprise was that the Scuderia Torro Rosso was faster then expected. But if they can hold that speed in qualifying and race it will lead to some troubles as some opponents told (directly or undirectly) that they would file a protest if STR is faster then them. This has to do with the fact that STR uses restricted V10 engines from last year and that some poeple think that they are more powerfull than V8's.

Williams was also very fast hitting 3rd fastest lap.

Here are the times

1. Anthony Davidson (Honda) 1:31,353
2. Michael Schumacher (Scuderia Ferrari) 1:31,751
3. Alexander Wurz (Williams Cosworth) 1:31,764

I think we had the same problem back on the last MoE race. I remember that it was said in the live stream that FrankMd (i think it was) couldn't leave the server cause that would produce other drivers to disconnect too. Well I'm not sure about this, perhaps Frank could tell something about it.

This is it, the F1 season 2006 has officialy started.
First car on track was the Williams Cosworth of Alexander Wurz.
The first half of the practice was mainly a time fight from Alexander Wurz against Robert Kubica in the BMW Sauber. The 2nd half saw many installation laps and at the end also some times of the top drivers. As expected the Super Aguri F1's were very slow, but this is not their final car for this season (this will probably start on the european season). Noteworthy thing: There were so many reporters around the Ferrari pits that one could think Michael Schumacher is still world champion.
Also very interesting is that we saw many fights on the track, which is somewhat surprising
for a first practice.
On the engine side my personal impression is that ,though the V8 are slower ,they soundgreat .

Here are the times of the first practice:

1. Robert Kubica (BMW Sauber) 1:32,170
2. Alexander Wurz (Williams Cosworth) 1:32,184
3. Kimi Räikkönen (McLaren Mercedes) 1:33.388
4. Michael Schumacher (Scuderia Ferrari) 1:33.469
5. Christian Klien (Red Bull Racing) 1:34.800
6. Neel Jani (Scuderia Toro Rosso) 1:34.831
7. Juan-Pablo Montoya (McLaren Mercedes)1:34.887
8. Felippe Massa (Scuderia Ferrari) 1:34.925
9. David Coulthard (Red Bull Racing) 1:35.017
10. Vitantonio Liuzzi (Scuderia Toro Rosso) 1:35.083
11. Robert Doornbos (Red Bull Racing) 1:35.203
12. Scott Speed (Scuderia Toro Rosso) 1:35.371
13. Tiago Monteiro (Midland F1) 1:36.542
14. Christian Albers (Midland F1) 1:36.930
15. Markus Winkelhock (Midland F1) 1:37.918
16. Takuma Sato (Super Aguri) 1:38.190
17. Yuji Ide (Super Aguri) 1:40.782

Yep, there are some things missing, but i think you have hardly the time to notice it if your driving a race.
