At the start i was also slow, i think that's normal enough. everybody has to learn at the start in virtual and in real life. after a few months i became a fairly fast slow driver (i know that sounds strange ) After i started to drive in the ESL ESCC i focused on the FZR and now i think that i'm a medium fast driver and i've learned much about setups. In fact i drove the XF GTi some days ago, and it's been months since i drived it last time. Well what happened? i almost instantly broke all my hotlap times with this car. But from the start (my start) with S2 until now 3 months passed and i'm still in the learning phase i think.

Perhaps this could be a solution: Instead of having the option to ban someone from the beginning how would it be if you only had the option of kicking. If someone is kicked it would be saved on the main server and at a specific amount of kicks the ban option would be turned on. This statistic of kicks would have to be restarded every 24h so that no one would be brandmarked. Should be possible for the devs to implement this. What do you think?

Well you could it do that way: The tyres you used for qual in one race could also be used for qual in the next race and same for your race tyres. So you would have 5 tyre sets for qual and 5 for race (in this example with 10 sets).

I see myself as a hardcore sim fan (or freak ). I used wheels since the good old Indycar Racing and Grand Prix 2 days. Lots of people i know also fought i was crazy to buy the red Momo force that in time wasn't the cheapest one. I also drive a lot of Karting in rl. But hey thats just me, and i think that all kind of driving inputs has to be allowed. There are lot of poeple that are faster with mouse ore keyboard then, well they practiced and earned it. If someone really wants to drive only against wheel users then drive in a league, like the ESL's leagues. They have rules to just drive with wheel. Although it wouldn't bother me if there where also mouse and keyboard users. You can't say that all the mouse/keyboards drivers are slow or are wreckers cause that definitly don't apply. There are the ones that drive alot and there the ones that drive perhaps once a week, no matter what input they have. And personally i would rather drive against a full grid of keyboard/mouse drivers that drive clean and perhaps fast than against 5 wheel wreckers.

I always hated airport tracks cause of the narrow field of view, and setting the car up is difficult and to find the turn in points. And cause of this probs, i don't think that it would be such a good thing for rookies. Cause you don't really have an orientation on these tracks. Well anyway there surely are poeple who like those though.

I didn't try Rfactor, but i think LFS has a long time popularity cause it isn't just a game that is programmed and then the devloppers forget about it. No, it developes over the years and that is what's nice about it. So i think about long term fun no other sim can compete with LFS.

I also say Live like living. Only prob is when i tell poeple from the game, they often answer of course we know what NEED for speed is illepall. Then it takes 5 min to explain them that Lfs is a sim and Nfs is Aracade. Btw in luxemburgish it would be called Liewen fir d'Geschwindegkeet.

Well today we raced the 7 season race in the ESL ESCC. I've got disconnected in lap one of the sprint race. Was rather unfortunate as it meant that i've got no points for that one. Also kramer008 got disconnected in the same second. Was my first diconnection. In main race then all went good, no disconnects and i must admid i haven't seen that much disconnects by now. it's always 1 or 2 drivers that got such a problem in the races and it's not always the same, and as by now it also doesn't seem to be a regional specific problem in this league. But i sure would like the idea mentioned here with saving you status.

Always sad when something like that happens in motorsport.

have a few questions about the DFP.
Isn't it a bit strange at the beginning to have a 900degree wheel?
Does it take long to get acostumed to it?

The idea could be misused, some examples:

1. a driver who normally is a nice (don't like to use good as it could mean his speed) driver is being pushed in T1 from behind at start of a race. He could loose control and in result it would be bowling at T1, so a great deal of the cars would be cleaned of the track. This example happens a lot of times, so we see it's not always the fault of the one that make a major crash. What would happen? After the race all people with some exeptions think this player is a crasher and give him bad votations.

2. There's always poeple that would give a bad votation cause they're frustrated or what else.

3. The wreckers would probably also give bad votations.

Don't get me wrong, i always thought that some kind of classification for behaviour is a good thing. But to make it right so it can't be misused is the problem.

Exeptions are only made in changing conditions, like sunny in qual and wet in race. Or changing conditions in race. Thats a bit more complicated. In this case they can. 1. If they're on wet tyres change the whole set, wet/wet or wet/dry and fuel up, or if they have to change to wet tyres it's the same.

For dry conditions, if they have to change a tyre, they don't have to take a tyre with most mileage but it has to be a tyre that has actually been driven in one practice.

Well actual F1 has such a rule that you have to use same tyres in qualifying and race. But that would be league dependent.

Quote from Vendetta :Whenever im close behind a car and im entering a turn that involves heavy braking, i tend to move a bit to the site so im not directly behind them incase they brake early.

And that's the right thing to do, but many poeples are not so cautious. And then brake lights will not help.

Driving cautiously when you're behind someone would also help, and i think it's more the problem of this. Most driversdrive to aggressively behind someone, and if you're right behind someone and he brakes you most probably crash into him because you're reaction time isn't fast enough. Even brake lights wouldn't help there.
LRB_Aly

Well i hope that most people brake before the car in front of them is getting bigger, otherwise we would see a Sato-Schumacher like crash all the time

It's not only a low visibility light (that has to be turned on in wet/rain conditions) but also a light that shows if the rev limiter is on. You can see it every time when a car drives through the pits.

Real Wheater would be a real nice feature espacially for leagues. For the unracebale condition, i think it would lie in the hands of the pilots to decide wether they're driving or not. The difference between simdriving and rldriving is that we don't have to think about our life an the dangers, so you could possibly try to drive in very nasty conditions. But as blackout said: It's way to early to talk about this.

Well i don't know how it is in other countries, but here the costs of broadband internet (DSL) are much less expensive then it would be if ure using ISDN or 56.6 internet connections, because it's flatrate, so i think that this would save money and not be more expensive. For the rest: I think it could be possible for most racers to bye a wheel, they're not so expensive anymore as they used to be, for 25 euro's you already get a cheap one without FF (Actually i already saw FF wheels for approximative 50 euros).

Quote from tpa :

1. You will never get a fast lap, just because of luck in every corner. LFS is all about skill and pratice (= time). If you want to be fast, you have to pratice hard and a lot.

2. And once you have invested enough time to be competitive and go online to have fun races with other equally enthusiastic racers, your race is spoiled by some idiots that are pissed off because of their inability to keep their cars on the track... you have to understand that people will become angry at these idiots.

First of all, i also can't understand the behaviour we saw here:
Then we are mad ... and wreck them of the track.

1. Completely agreed. It's about practice, and you can learn a great deal when you just take a look at other more experienced racers on how they drive, where they brake and how they attack corners.

2. Not completely agreed. Well it's simple to say you have to practice offline and when you're good go online. But it's an online simulator, so you can't just tell people to stay offline until they're good. It's also possible to drive online, even if you're not good (fast), and drive clean. I think one will learn faster if he drives online and take a look at the other drivers then to learn by himself offline. Being a slow or a fast driver has nothing to do with being a clean one. What newbies have to understand is only that in the beginning it's probably more important trying to keep the car on track even if they're slow, cause i'd like to think that there isn't such a thing like ' inability to keep the car on track'. It's only a matter of how fast you're going and where you're limit of car control is. Ie if you drive BWGP with a GTI sey at constant 50 kp/h it's hard to crash, no? So it all comes down to your speed. Well it's clear that most poeple try to push, even in the beginning, and that accidents are a logical cause of this.

That's something that happened also to me, but in a different form. i cross the pit exit line and the game says that i quit the pit. then i push the accelerator and get a drive throug.
