Well i don't think that most poeple, who read this, thought of something like pre-scripted
events. They probably meant calculated damage. The title is somewhat misleading there, but i think no one wants pre-scripted events.
As for calculated damage, imo this is something that is hard to emplement, don't know if it's even doable at this time.

I think the best thing would be to have a driving school like the one that was implemented in RBR. But nothing with time trial (this was also in RBR and it was tough at first). Something where the base (race) driving techniques are explained. In detail this could be these things:

- How to accelerate and brake.
- How to drive different forms of corners (and also different possibilities)
- Acceleration out of a corner ( for FWD, RWD and AWD)
- Different forms of acceleration (smooth acceleration, or pump acceleration --> don't know how you called it really but this is used sometimes withy Turbos, you pump the throttle out of corners.)
- Braking into a corner (Different forms, like finishing braking before corner or trailbraking)
- How to catch an understeering and oversteering car.

I think if these things are explained in a good manner, (of course with tests) this would be enough to start with. Nothing to difficult, but these are the bases.
And I also think it could be beneficial to set this trials as a must, cause I've often see poeple on public servers that have a very odd way of driving through corners, if they 'learned' how to drive through a corner it would give more fun, not only to them, but also for all the others as they probably would be faster then.
I don't like time trials, as this depents to much on the individual driver skills and/or experience.

Yummy!
I hope I'm doing fine if I am being spectated.

I hope so too. Wouldn't look fine if one's doing a crash when he is on video

Yeah that would be great. I already see the scene. You drive in a league and have your races, let's say, on sundays. The weather forecast says that it could be raining on the weekend in GB. Now your race is on Aston, so you start making a wet weather setup. Sunday comes, and the race starts in rain and then after a few laps it stops and the track is drying. now those who started with dry setups are getting faster and faster, you slower and slower.
now this is the point where the thrill begins: someone closes the gap to you and you are in close combat with him, knowing that you have to fight like a lion to stay in front of him, well you can imagine the scene.
Man that would be thrilling .

Actually with this set i can make longruns. It's a while ago since i last drove it, but if i remember right, the rear tyres will overheat a little bit and after few laps they will come back to normal temps.

I agree with FlintFredstone that some limitations have to be made. Not as in his example for GpMasters as these are race class limitations, but limitations to the little cars as XF GTI XR GT etc... . As they are atm they seem to be normal vehicles that you take and race against each other. Don't think that in real life there could be that much you're gonna change on such a car (surely it would also be limited by regulations). The problem is that as these aren't real life cars, you don't have any specs that you just could put in. But you could guess, as for example the XF GTI is something like an old Ibiza or whatever you think it is, you could take approx. the same setup as the real life car. So that not much should be changed in the setup. Or you could make 2 classes: One limited class (with limited setup options) and one unlimited (as we have now.) Could make this an server side option, wether you like the one or the other.

Don't know if it apllies to this situation , but i have had something comparable.
You know racing a championship, training like a madman for the races, and after the championship was over: Nothing, I had no more energy to drive one more lap. And even when I did, my laptimes where so bad that I stopped right away.
After 2 weeks I was asked to participate to an 4h race, and I started training again, starting to break my PBs and HLs again.
What I want to tell you with this post, is that sometimes you need a break. Sometimes there comes a point when you can't reach better even if you're trying hard. And than after taking a break, suddenly only the sky's the limit.

Remembers me of the Raikkonen Crash at Nuerburgring. He had a flat point on his right front tyre and due to the vibrations the whole suspension threw apart on last lap. But before we get that in sims we pretty sure will all be old

Hey i just read this Thread and it brings up a question to me. Are original skins of real race cars copyrighted? Cause there are many copies of race car skins in race sims so would be interesting to know Not that a racing team would bother with so little things but it's only out of interest.

Nice skin . Think I already saw it on track, but could also be that it was an other Martini Racing skin.

Quote from Vain :I also think it is a good idea to penalize cars that have a clear advantage in a specific race. That way it will be much easier for leagues to have equal chances across the whole range of cars in the class.

Vain

Well take for example a league where everyone drives the FZR and only one driver drives the XRR. The next race is on a track where the FZR are having an advantage, so they get penalized. But the XRR Driver is a hotshot and the others are all medium skilled. So the XRR driver would win either way, and with the FZR penalized it would probably come close to boring for him.

Your system could work but only in a grid where all drivers are almost same skilled.

Example: A 4 grid league could use this system in grid 1 and the other grids would be without a weight penalization or perhaps less weight penalization in grid2, even less in grid 3 and so on.

I never was a great fan of leveling a grid by weight penalties. It just seems so artificial to me. When i started 1st racing in a league (ESl ESCC) i was very slow and had no idea at what to do with the setup. But i worked hard on it and got better and better. Don't know if i had worked as hard if the fastest driver had been made slower by weight penalties, cause then the gap wouldn't have been so big and i would perhaps been satisfied at some time with my performance.
I see it that way. Everybody has the option to take the same car as the fastest and everybody can train to get better and better so that the gaps get less big. i know not everybody has the time to train 2,4 or even more hours the day. And not everyone has the same skill/reaction time/base speed. But as many leagues are running with more than one grid the best will come to the best and the less fast will come to their equals (i don't want to attack the slower driver or so, as i have the utmost respect for every driver). And with weight penalties it could probably falsify the results.

Well it wouldn't bother me if it was an option and not forced to everyone.

Just finished a 4 hour race on Aston GP with GTR's 2 days ago. While the FZR was the fastest car on track, it had to take 2 more stops than the XRR. So the XRR's could save appr. 80s over the 4 hours. Though if you take a very fast guy on the FZR and one in the XRR, (same skills) the FZR would nevertheless probably win over the distance. So you could say that the lower fuel consumption of the XRR doesn't make the car equal to the FZR even on longer distances.
Of course this only is my opinion and i could be wrong.

Well i also didn't saw the replay.
But imo if i don't know the guy that i'm trying to overlap i don't try to ban him directly. If he is blocking i send him a message (over the message shortcuts) to let me pass. I just looked at Ticks online racer stats and he only drove 694km until now. So he lacks a little bit of experience. I suppose it was a public race so i would have drove the race and after the race i would have talked to him, pointing out his error so that he could learn something out of it.
I would'nt have ban him right away. I understand that if poeple like Jet_CZE, n1lyn and norbi and etc... are driving against each other no one would like to loose. But hey it's no league race so there is nothing to gain or loose. For wreckers it's another thing, they destroy the fun, but for poeple that are new, banning them doesn't help. They don't learn by getting banned.

We all were newbies sometimes so don't be so harsh on the new drivers.

As i said, didn't saw a replay of this race and i don't want to offend someone. It's just a general opinion from me and not specificaly related to this incident.

I also hated WE from first day on. Only drove it in a FZR in a league, but never managed to setup the car in a way that i've had confidence in it without overheating my rear tyres. (propably i have the same prob as tristancliffe: lack of skill, cheers ) Nah i also say leave it as it is.

I think next incompatible patch will have some physics update (speeding issue with higher rides in front than rear i.e.), and perhaps some multiplayer fixes.

Well if this wasn't a prepared video (like the intro says) i have to say this is crazy and irresponsible. Driving in that manner through a city (here it is Paris late 70's or early 80's) and putting other lifes at risk has to be punished in a harsh manner. It always was my conviction that pushing to the limits is something you do on racetracks or closed areals, but not on civil roads.

I just tried a last time to improve my setting and succeeded. Was only minor changes, front anti-roll bar and wing settings and it works. I improved my hotlap my 8 tenth of a second. If anyone wants the setup, i uploaded it here.
It's not perfect but at least now i have an idea of some of the problems.

Well perhaps i'm oversteering with that set cause of my driving style, don't know. I tried a test out of Unlimited's hotlap replay and i was instantly almost 2 sec faster then i am with my set.
I don't have a clue for KY GP Long FZR

As the title says it i don't have a clue for the FZR setup on Ky Gp long. Tried the hummer setup that is at inferno's homepage. Too oversteery for me. Changed it a lot so that it suits me better, but still i'm feeling very uncertain on this track. Now i don't know what to do, if it's the setup that is crap or if my driving is crap or if it's both. I'm posting my setup here but perhaps anyone has a neutral setup and is willing to share it, perhaps it could help me.
Would be nice if i could get some help on this one, thanks.

Oh well a year ago i would have loughed at Old man racing and F08 (well we hadn't S2 than, i know), but after they started the Grand Prix Masters i only can think of one word: Respect. They still are fast, the old men.

BTW: Racer Y, i get this error when i try to open your image :
