If Gentlefoot gives me the permission, I'm planning to run the last round of GTTC/GFC on the Dynamic Racing server. I have to talk about this to my teammates, but I think it should be ok.
P.S.:
I really liked the series, it was well organized for a one man operation and the drivers where really nice and fast. One of the best series I've been in actually. It's sad that it's closing down now. I'm sure you could have found people willing to help but of course hoping that people donate enough for the running costs is rather overoptimistic. If you'd like to get the money from the drivers you have to ask for a starting fee rather then ask for a donation. Of course it'll be difficult to promote, why paying for a league when you can get the same thing elsewhere? But that's now a whole different story and has nothing to do with the subject anymore.
Ok I've tested some more of this patch, did some online racing and offline hotlaps. Well I love it, now it's really fun to drive the XRT the way it's supposed to be, with H-gated shifter and manual clutch. I don't know but I can't confirm that LFS got harder, but I can confirm that it's even more fun then it used to be.
I see, by the number of pages I would have guessed that there are more people in it already.
Mmmh I have one more race under old X patch to do and after that I can fully enjoy the new physics too.
Ok I didn't read the whole thread, just wanna answer to your post. That it's only a videogame mentality is not only common in America but also here in Europe (especially in Luxembourg). I'm one of those mad STCC drivers, and a lot of poeple understand all the effort I put in practice for such races etc... . Though there already are poeple seeing positive things, like " at least your not burning fuel like the real motorsport guys" or "with those fuel prices we might better be off with watching racing sims then real racing" etc... .
I always thought that the first in the series was Sports Car GT?
Well I use R-Factor out of fun, and that's all it is for me, fun. I mainly drive F1 1979 mod also online, I'm doing my own sets (like I do in LFS too). I know you're gonna think, wth has that to do with the BMW Sauber, well it has nothing to do with it. But I wanted to talk about driving on the limit in both sims.
No matter what I did in R-Factor in terms of controllers and or setups, I never "felt" the car (even with real Feel). It's just a matter of how fast I can react to the visuals rather than to what I feel on the steering wheel. In LFS it's the other way around, first I "feel" what the car is about to do and then I see it. Which means in LFS I can react to the car rather then to the visuals. And in that matters I like LFS over R-Factor.
Hehe I hope so too, I think this was probably the race I got the most coverage so far. I have to admit this was also a great fight, I was sweating like crazy just to keep you behind me.
Until now I never burned the clutch, it just heats a bit at the start and then it stays.
But there's a question I'm asking myself: Is flat-shifting still an option (not for FBM of course) on a single qualifying lap? Has anyone tested that? Well I sure will this afternoon on a long track (Fernbay Black rev) with LX6 to see if the clutch can cope with that.
Though I don't really get the feeling that it's harder now, but that may be because I blipped already before the patch and I used analogue speedos too, so there's no real change in that matters for me.
Good luck with your team. I'd say start slowly, get some poeple in your team and try to practice with them, so that the team will improve as a whole over time (and as a team).
I'd say don't look too much for speed, rather look for team players, and for that you need time.
Sorry I didn't read the whole 5 pages of this thread, so don't shoot me if I'm asking something already asked.
You tell the general opinion is that the blip/cut will be on a manual base in future. While I'm perfectly fine with this (I blip manually most of times) on road cars and maybe even on MRT etc... , I just ask myself the question what about the F1? Or the GTR's? Will they be automatic (the F1 sure is in real life) or will they also be manual. P.S: Answered by Tristan before I could ask
Second thing I asked myself: What will (the new patches physics) change to the setups in general?
Will there be a tendency in making them more stable under braking or will there be no change at all, or will the gearing, what do you guys think?
All the news sites I've read also tell that they're testing for 2009. Some drivers (James Rossiter) even tell that the balance between front and rear tyres ain't to good at this moment. Well they still have a year test tyres and even this first versions are already +/- 2 seconds a lap faster.
It may be a driver problem, if not, then check your CPU/GPU temperatures. I had this problem when my CPU fan was full of dust. I was running at something around 75 degrees (It was my old AMD Athlon 2800 XP)
in idle.
If my memory serves me correctly, I remember that in LFS there is an issue with the ARBs on front driven cars, they work the other way around. Putting more ARB on front makes the car more oversteery and vice-versa.
Yeah I have to agree, over the past year I had a hell lot of fun in the GFC. If I compare with all the other series I've done so far the GFC is very high in my books.
I demonstrated LFS to friends lately and first thing they said was wow, nice graphics. One of them was a gamer the other not. But they both where like hey that looks natural, the way the cars move.
