1. LFS
2. FSX
3. Transport Tycoon
4. Hearts of Iron 2
5. Silent Hunter 3 + 4
Oh right we're in racing games/sims here. Mmm that makes it quite difficult, not the 1st place but the rest of it
1. LFS
2. RBR
3. Microprose GP series
4. GTR2 (because of the real tracks, although the physics kill the experience)
5. TDU (it's fun for 5 or 10 minutes)
Yeah without anything on it looks like all objects are "flickering" and with everything on you get a very smooth look. I can't even drive anymore without some AA etc... as it makes me nervous to look at alle the flickering.
The FXO is too light for such a car (that Scawen said himself) and the tyres are to wide (but they can't be changed in a physics compatible patch) for such a car. So this car is getting more "realistic" performances.
For the weight: I used to have a similar car to the FXO (Opel Vectra A 2.0l) it's empty weight was 1250kg (FXO 1140 without penalties). Even if you say it's a Coupe so it's rather an Astra Coupe: the Astra Coupe also weighs more (almost 1200kg).
If making the sim more realistic means that sometimes some cars have to be slown down I'm totaly comfortable with that.
At the beginning (in my first leagues) I used to push it to the limit nevertheless on which position I was. I even drove on the edge when I had over 10/20/etc seconds of advance.
Today I became more tactical, I just drive fast enough to fullfill my goals, when I'm in front I tray to control the race but not to do any crazy fast laptimes. I guess I'm getting old .
Well doesn't matter either way, as long as I can fullfill my goals
P.S. But I think the question should'nt be: "Does your psycological state change from race situation?" , it should be "Does you psycological state change your track behaviour?"
I used to have a Vectra A (built 1990) it was tuned (not much just barely) 2.0l engine 4 cylindre 150 hp and with a sport kit (susp and exahaust etc) and I must admit it was the best gripping car that I used to have. Right now I'm driving a 2005 Seat Leon FR with 180 hp, 1.8l Turbo engine and though it's faster then the old Vectra I don't get this "gripping" sensation I had on the Opel. The Leon is reallly LFS like in some sort (it's more or less what I feel with the XFG although the car isn't as powerfull) and the old Vectra is more or less what the "old", unhandicapped FXO was, something like an Uebercar.
I fooled around back in the test patches with handicap and actually putting the right amount of handicap to the right pos in the car helped in the handling of the car (I'm talking about the RAC). It helped so much that the handicap actually became an advantage because I could drive faster through the corners (track was KY Nat).
Pool2
That was an awesome race for me. Started 2nd and defended this position at the start. At the end of lap 1 S-Core Rapozzza made a mistake in the last corner (or rather he didn't came through well) so that I reached his slipstream and outbrake him on the end of the straight. The next lap he pushed me and attacked on every occasion so that I had to drive in a defensive position mostly, but at the beginning of lap 3 he spun off in the braking zone of T1. That left me in front alone and from this point on I was in control of the race. Due to my offline experience (I never finished 1 race distance cause I always spun off at some point ) I knew that driving clean and finishing was more important then pulling out fancy laptimes, and I can't remember that I drove the chicane full throttle at any time in the race.
So I tried to drive as fast as it was needed but never tried to push it to the limit and that worked very well.
I'm really excited about this victory cause it's my first league race victory since a little over a year.
And what's also exciting is that I actually don't like the MRT5 at all but still was able to pull a good result and so I'm impatient to see if I can do better (div1 i.e.) with a car that I actually like.
I'd like to thanks all the other drivers in pool2, you raced very clean and also the guys that I overlapped were mostly very cautious.
I made the pitstop suggestion because there are some leagues that use a system like this: Compulsory pitstop enabled, pitting must happen between lap x and lap x2. Now after the race they have to mostly analyze the whole pitting of all the drivers manually. If it could be implemented into the program it would happen automatically and safe a lot of work for organizers who like to run such a system.
First: I did a search and looked at the 'suggested improvement log' but didn't find exactly this thing.
So to the improvements: Limits would be a nice thing to add,as seen in real life motorsports.
I.e. you get a drive-through penalty for a false start/speeding in pits or what else. As it is now, you can wait until one of the last laps before you take that penalty.
In real life there is often a time/lap window when you take such a penalty (I think in formula 1 it's no later then 3 laps after the penalty is given). So my suggestion would be that you can set a limit for serving a penalty (serverside option).
Same thing for compulsory pitstops.
It would be an addition if you could set when you may pit earliest and when you may pit latest.
Just saw 18.30 UTC is 20.30 our time, that could be just after F1, so maybe I could make it. Still it will be a close call, but I'd really like to have a test run under real race conditions. Against AI it's just a mess and it's not a combo that is really commonly found online.
For me the nationality doesn`t play a role. Maybe because I`m also a member from a small "community". I like the "lion" (like Nigel Mansell or so ). So what I want to say is: I`d rather like the personaöities then the countries.
Well I think you can`t compare virtual cars to real cars, you know we almost have endless time to make a setup for a car, so at the end we all could have a stable setup, even if a real world counterpart is a nervous one.
I voted yes but I also think that some RL additions wouldn`t hurt. But at the end I also wouldn`t mind if we have fantasy cars/tracks cause it makes fun either way.
