Quote from Boris Lozac :Eh? I just said i want this kind of track in GT5, since i don't have an Xbox.. so it's a compliment for the game, i'm envious, etc.. what the hell

Its just that most of the posts that you've put in here all relate back to GT5 and eventually cause more and more arguments about which is better..etc

I downloaded the demo last night and I'm actually suprised to how good it feels even with the TTS. (twiddly thumb sticks)

Drifting is okay but pretty hard in the porsche, I think if I was going to get the full game I'd HAVE to use a wheel, I have the slowwwww wheel turning when your holding the stick all the way to the right.

Anyone know a way to get the G25 working with Xbox?

That doesn't mean we're definately getting the Radical by the way - as you seem to be assuming in a lot of your other posts.

Penetration Pricing. Start out with low prices, and gradually bring up the prices as you attract customers. The low price attracts customers and as you complete projects, you can add them to your portfolio, whilst slowly increasing the prices.

Another thing is to make sure that your own website looks nice. Potential customers could be put off if your own website, looks naff.

We're going to start doing business once we have a few examples online, I mean if I wanted a website designing but the company didn't have any examples... I wouldn't choose them! The only real reason I was posting this on here was because I was going to design a site anyway for the portfolio, but I thought it would be a good friendly favour to do help someone else out with their own website. I wasn't saying that I'll make people website's for free until I want to start charging.

Quote from JJ72 :You have to think down the road imo.

If one day you are doing freelance designs for some supplimentry income, and here comes a flock of "professional designers" who does things for free. Why would anyone pay you?

Most clients don't know what professional design is, so its up to you to tell them what it is.

If your idea of professional design (that is hours of research, concept development and refinement, in details what often goes unnoticed in the eye for casual viewers) is worth exactly nothing than please stay out of design business, because you are doing it at the expense of others who are truely professional, go mow a lawn or something.

A designer is not a layout artist, nor a web technician, design is about ideas, a concept site is a showcase of ideas and vision.

I make websites and graphics because I enjoy doing it and see it as a passion. I don't see it the arty farty way that you have to abide by certain "rules" and can only design stuff if your going to do it this exact way.

Hi,

Me and my friends from college are starting up a web design business and to start with we need some work in our portfolio. For this reason I'm coming hear to ask if anyone would like a free website designing. Unfortunately I can't host it for free as I don't own the webspace, but if you would want it putting online we can set it all up and charge you.

Please serious offers only, and I'm doing this on a first come first serve - I don't have masses of time on my hands so I'll probably only be able to do 1 design - so be quick.

If this is against the TOS then delete it, but I don't think it is since I'm not selling or advertising anything.

Chow!

Great news.

Now my opinion on what will happen over the next month:

"GREAT THANKS SCAWEN WE LOVE YOU, YA BEAST"
"Hey whens it being released"
"Why isn't it released yet"
"FFS LFS is dead"
"Its always been dead"
"I'm quitting, see you in 5 years"

All this speculation isn't good.

Because if for any one of hundreds of reasons the dev's can't (or havn't been planning on) get Rockingham into LFS, there's gonna be an outrage! "OH we saw pictures why wont you give us new content" and "lfs is dead /wrists"

Look what happened with the 'rocco.

Still don't know whether that will make me dig up my wheel and set it all back up again - not played LFS for a good month or two now.

Bugger your doing a half marathon. I was too busy calculating things that I misread that, and thought you were doing a full one! Was wondering why all the guesses were so slow.

Oh well - I probably won't win but don't take it to heart that I guessed a much longer time than nearly everyone else!

i have bought mine at amazone for 200€!

That's not cheap.

£100 = 113€.

200€ = £175, which is more than what the G25 cost when it was first released.

Its only wrong when your dad thinks he "knows it all" but really doesn't!

Its quite hilarious when he seriously tries to diagnose medical issues in the family and wonders why the heck he's wrong when they find out the true diagnosis!

Quote from tristancliffe :Use a rule. One way it's flexible, one way it's still. With the cheap ones (i.e. in most production engines) it's like two rules in the flexible orientation where it needs to be stiff. A proper conrod - as used in F1, GP2, F3, DTM, or any race series where forged conrods are allowed - has them so the two rules are stiff in the direction that needs to resist bending.

That layout will have an effect on the vibrations (but I can't be bothered to attempt to work out the second and third order vibrations of one, as it takes ages), but not so much the power delivery. The pistons aren't independant, and they don't move independantly. The 4 cylinder still has four seperate bangs, and your 5 cylinder has 5 seperate bangs.

What about this:
...
...
|111|.........|222|............|333|..............|444|
...
...

All 4 cylinder engines do that too. But the firing order is 1 & 3 and 4 & 2, but 1, 3, 4, 2 over 720° of crank rotation.

I'm not really big into the internals of engines, I've only just got my provisional through the post!

The only reason I'm actually saying what I am is because my dad told me. (sounds a bit childish to always belive your dad but he has rallied many cars before and owned two quattro's in the past, he turbocharged one of them "himself" (not sure what that quite means, bought the turbo and fabricated bits I'm guessing))

Quote from tristancliffe :A conrod is doesn't need to be laterally stiff as it is constrained by the piston and crank along it's two axis. But when the piston is transmitting work it has to do so through an angle, and hence needs to be stiff in that direction.

Conrod failures due to hydraulic lock or an escaping piston aren't indicative of the normal loads, so shouldn't be used to determine the orientation of the I section.

Any powertrain engineer would agree.

you know that although the pistons move in pairs, they are 360 apart, so you still get bang bang bang bang. On a 6 you get bang bang bang bang bang bang. But they aren't moving independantly, as they are driven by a common crankshaft. Maybe a good time to learn the basics of engines before making stuff up.

Apologies for typos, but iPhones don't induce accuracy!!!!

Either I'm explaining it wrong or I've completely missunderstood how the Audi works.

Let me draw a diagram using lines:
_____
.............................................|555|
.................................|444|
.....................|333|
.........|222|
|111|
__________________________________

That's what I'm talking about, probably not in that order but how each piston is at a different stage. Instead of it being like this:

|111|........................................|111|

.............|222|..........|222|.....

Quote from tristancliffe :How do the pistons move independantly? 5 separate cranks? Any why is five ignition pulses (i.e. not wasted spark) clever? The only reason wasted spark exists is because of cost, but it's the work of an evening to convert it to a coil per cylinder, or to use a distributor.

Why? Throw enough turbochargers at an engine and you make whatever power you want. Aspects of the Veyron are impressive engineering feats, but I don't think any of it is particularly cool - have you seen how much that thing weighs?

No idea how, all I know is that instead of like on a 4 cylinder where the two outer pistons would move in sync and the two inner ones would too, each of the 5 cylinders in the audi would move uniquely. So instead of "BANG BANG" each revolution you'd get "bang bang bang bang bang".
