That was despite numerous official (=devs) initiatives regarding the LX cars in '07. In 2004 and part of 2005, choice of cars was limited to 7 (+1 single seater), so obviously it was less of a problem.
These are just a few samples, but one counter example is all it takes to bring a theory down.
I'd agree with you on the general principle (i.e. the number of racers is falling), but to say you could always choose ANY car and find a full server, well, that's a big overstatement!
Some cars/class have always been less lucky than others... if you search the forum there's ample evidence of that.
I've been a lurker for a long time don't be fooled by the silly amount of posts carrying my name these days.
I remember if I said something about test patches in the servers' chat, only a small minority was aware of them. Most never had an idea a new patch was going to be released, or what was going to be in it.
That of course was around mid '08, when there was not a delayed car to draw attention to LFS.
Great little movie, I also really loved Winterschlaefers from Tykwer (Der Krieger und die Kaiserin didn't really cut it for me), both are completely different from Lola anyway.
IMO Taken is beyond all considerations on acting, it's basically what a security guard will jerk off to, speaking with all respect due to all the sane guys who work as security guards.
Basically it has only two nice things in it, the first few sequences (Everything in its right place etc), and one quote which I won't tell you in case you decide to watch the movie.
Since there are at least two people claiming ALO is massively better than the remake, I will offer my contrasting opinion:
Vanilla Sky is better acted and photographed, while ALO is very low budget and besides deserving the credit for the story (which isn't exactly thrilling however if you've read your share of SF anyway), it's not a movie I'll ever consider watching a second time.
It's a classic, if you liked the mood be sure to check out Brazil by the same director.
The forums can be hardly regarded as PR, the 'average customer' doesn't usually dwell on the discussion boards. The people in here are a limited subset of the whole customer base.
Anytime you let someone new inside your team you're relinquishing a part of the creative control - even assuming the guy does the work for free e.g. community contributed mods.
And BTW once you accept a contribution, you're bound to have more people asking to see their creations featured in the game.
Well I can't say I'm happy, but at least in the 2nd race I managed to bring it home in not much more than 1 piece, that was my aim right from the start, as it always is
That would have been nice, my car flew out when someone decided it's fun to make a pileup on T1.
edit: watched the replay it was actually one of those physics hiccups, some cars in front of me had an accident and one was thrown backwards, my car in turn was slinged away.
Kaufman plays a lot with the concept of reality, its perception of it, how it shapes his characters' identity and memory. He's a bit Dickian in a way His scripts can get a bit clunky sometimes and likely appeal brainy people more than 'emotional' types.
Along the same lines be sure to check out Stranger than Fiction, different people but the general mood is not that far.
If you're interested watch the Director's Cut, it explains pretty much everything. All in all I'm the type of person who likes to be kept guessing rather than having a rather bland explanation delivered on a silver plate, so I could without the DC.
That's because the explanation behind DD is not that interesting. To make a comparison with a completely different film, i.e. 2001 A Space Odissey, that's one where I very much liked to read a down-to-earth (excuse the pun) explanation (which is found in AC Clarke's book) as I felt the film is a bit too cryptic for my taste. Kubrick surely did that on purpose, and it fits the underlying theme very well and cleverly too, but requires a great deal of effort on the spectator's part.
As far as I remember it, it's entirely on the noble savage idea, and it plays out as a more or less standard comedy. The visuals are interesting, the cast is certainly worthy, but as a whole it left me quite underwhelmed.
Another Gondry's movie that did not impress me one bit is Be Kind Rewind. I can discern the skills, the irony, the underlying message, but in the end it's more a divertissement than a movie.
Despite it not being my favorite, I regard Science of Sleep as far more interesting
@Veloci, you're basically missing out the whole underlying philosophy of Firefox, which is extensibility.
BTW I have used Opera years ago before Firefox was out, and tested it again recently. It has a lot of stuff that I don't need, and is missing a lot of things that Firefox has.
If you like that check out the other movies written by Charlie Kaufman like Being John Malkovich and Adaptation.
As for the director, Gondry, his other films are a bit weird, for that reason you might not like em but they're worth checking out. E.g. The Science of Sleep.
Human Nature is a bit formulaic IMO, good for completists.
For my pedals I'm using an anti-skid mat intended for carpets. It works to a degree, i.e. if you use the clutch the pedal base will still slide around there's not enough weigh for the mat to work effectively.
I'll have to take the plunge and do some woodworking myself.
