Quote from tristancliffe :You do realised the 'feeling' of a turbo 'kicking in' is a seat of the pants thing. You can't look out of a window and see the turbo 'kicking in' effect. So unless you make the turbo HUGE (i.e. 8hp before it comes in, and 8000 afterwards) you won't get that 'feeling'.

I declare this statement true.

Yeah if you're wanting a big bang you're going to need to knock up the turbo boost to like 30, I think by default its at like 12 so you'll get a 'we aint going no where' to a 'oh sheet the wheels are spinning, spinnnniinng..' then you crash and lower it cause its no fun on your own.

Then you watch youtube, and then go to bed.

.... at 8pm..like an old lady.. yeh up all day getting late now, feeling tired, need to get into bed.

Flat shifting in the turbo cars (atleast the XRR) will give you engine damage over a longer period of driving. In the 24HR event at KYGP recently I had to enable throttle cut on up shift, just so as my feet could get a break. And over the course of 40/45 minutes the car would pick up engine damage (popcorn), and you would notice a small decrease in engine power so to speak.

As for it making you quicker or not well I don't think so, it probably does but when I use throttle cut I feel the whole process of changing gear just goes a hell of a lot smoother and quicker. Button clutch on the other hand, well theres something I know makes me quicker

I think the key to the FO8 is knowing what its about to-do, as you can almost floor it out of bends without it stepping out. Just tweak the diff settings until you find the right amount of oversteer/understeer you want.

I use 220/225 Rotation for the car and leave LFS @ 360, I find once you get used to it it becomes pretty easy to throw around. I also use F1 TV style cam so I can see the wheels + wing etc, all at a 30degree angle.

Quote from p5srono :ok im proper new to this so be patient, ive brought the s2 license, at 24 english pounds i had to, ive been playin and love it, but ive been readin bout the lfstweak, i downloaded but its for patch v and ive got x, is there a version for x, i only want to mod the xrgt turbo, ive read on other threads that lfstweak will only do demo cars wich the xrgt tubro falls into, does a version for patch x exist yet?

I could hook you up with a small Tweak like program for some very basic tweaks for X (Change cylinder amount/engine power/engine size) for the XRT and XFG/XRG (Engine power/Engine size)

I'm still working on a decent method of finding the values and such, so I don't have many at the moment. Its currently for test patch X3, so yeah let me know.

See ya!

Your setup looks pretty reasonable as of now but I think you could probably shave a bit more camber from the front and lose more downforce. If you're going to use more camber you'll need to lose more downforce, you have quite alot there atleast to what I'm used too.

Check your PM.

Quote from Crashgate3 :I think something simple like a leaderboard on LFSWorld. Just something that under each time says something like '1245/204058' to show where your time comes out of everyone who has set a time.

You know what Hotlap mode is right?

Sorry but LFS Celebrities or Legends? Seriously this sounds like a Pop Idol debate!

We currently have high class racing in many forms, from endurance (MoE) right down to sprint like races (ESCC) these house the best of the best. And yes all the leagues I listed are available to anyone in LFS, but due to the skill level that race within these leagues you'll not find too many beginners there, naturally .

Yeah I'm sorry to say it isn't the XXXX amount of miles on a particular track that counts, it mostly comes down to how many miles overall you've driven in and out of hotlap/single player etc.

I think I've done 36K In about a year now and there are still a ton of combos I've never driven, and believe it or not one or two tracks.

But given 30 minutes with a good setup I wont be far from the WR time (under a second easy) and I wont need to watch any replay. Good drivers just adapt faster then the not so good, this comes with experience and not so much 'talent' although it certainly helps.

Finally no one needs to know who is the best of the best, arguably Biggie is the best but he might suck on track against others who prefer racing.

Edit :
MoE
BoTT
OLFSL

These are just some of the leagues I know that really test the best from the rest, perhaps you should look into them.

Having only raced one endurance event with multiple car classes I can agree with n1lyn and say that it really isn't all that great. The 24HR @ Kyoto a few weeks back was more then enough for me, admittedly I found overtaking the LX6's the most difficult but the FWD GTR classes were just as tricky.

One class gets my vote

Quote from Jakg :I don't understand how learning another combo is neccesary - the better we know the track, the better the racing, so surely the best combo would be the one for Round 1.

Oh, and James, what are you entering in? If it's an XFG i think it's a little rich to lecture me on "men from the boys" :P

Most drivers in this league will have probably raced all if not most of the combos, so 'learning' a combo doesn't really come into it. If you're only competitive after 400 laps then perhaps that's something you should look into.

As for pre-qual I think its the only suitable idea, it wouldn't be fair just to split teams into divisions based on prior race results and such.

Quote from nihil :There is no comparison to be made between left footing a real car and doing the same with your Momo.

I use my left foot all the time in simulations, but am a total menace on the road if I try it in my Peugeot. I can heel and toe a real car with ease, but have never practiced the left foot thing. Hence, if I try, what happens is that I jam on the brakes as if a toddler had just jumped into the road.

Computer controllers and real brake pedals are very different, and your left foot, used to finding the bite point on the clutch, needs a lot of recalibrating to operate the brake pedal safely, let alone trail it through a turn.

Very true, don't assume because you can LFB in LFS that you can do it in a real car. Try trail braking in a non-ABS car with your left foot for the first time, you'll find a tree before you find the corner exit!

As for doing it in a simulator, I think its a must to be competitive and it helps now and then just to have your foot resting above the brake pedal. Never know when that lag kicks in and you need to avoid a 20 car pile up

Indeed, age is never an excuse. You feel mature and wise enough to run a team, manage a 47 public slot server and a web domain, but find it too difficult to know right from wrong regarding wrecking?

And then to try and use the weak excuse of 'I'm only 13' and that we don't understand... I'd hate to say it buddy but most of us here are older then 13, so we've obviously been there before. So yes, we do understand, we understand at that age you generally piss around more, in a childlike sense... Not spoiling peoples fun, or pissing people off..

Irish Man: We don't have to deal with it, that's the beauty of being S2 Licensed. He wants to screw around and wreck, then he can start receiving bans from admin's, which in turn means ban from LFS (eventually) - So nah... Dun fink so.

Quote from Shotglass :has anyone else noticed the filesize on that replay ?

also this replay is obviosuly fake ... nakki driving in 2nd position

Tarts account probably got boobled, and some averagely skilled driver is trying to improve his stats.

Jesus if ever I've seen a reason for global ban this would be one of them, Harjun you're a complete piss take.. Wrecking so blatantly on a server and then coming here to announce a team you want people to join?

Piss off!

Oh the 'nothing negative' was you, I just had to comment on it, please return your S2 licence. K bye.

Why not actually do something that benefits you in the long run? Perhaps learn something new, a language, a new skill or just read random articles and stuff on Wiki.

Quote from J.B :Everone seems to agree with the ban? Come on, I can understand thet AS' driving was too agressive for some people's liking but where was the banable offence?

A ban for aggressive and careless driving? No that would be completly uncalled for, but to come to a public forum, read peoples comments on the replay of which Senna posted, and then to turn around and insult everyone with 'bellend' and other petty insults because we fail to agree with his side of the story. I think that deserves a slap in the face.

Yeah sorry Senna but you ain't got a leg to stand on here, you clearly drove/slid into AL and thus forced him into the barrier. I didn't watch any more of the replay and from what I've read so far, you seemed pretty immature about it after.

Besides your driving is terrible you're constantly using others are mobile chicanes and not leaving any room, cutting corners and diving down the inside like a looney.

Learn the TBO class and most cars will follow soon after, cars I would avoid right away are the FWD GTR cars (UFR/XFR) purely because it takes a decent amount of control to keep them on 4 wheels and to keep the tyres healthy. The FOX is another car I would try to avoid unless you want to race it competitively in a league, more and more beginner drivers opt for this car and then never progress to anything else.

Try to avoid the overly packed servers, this might sound like silly advice (the more the merrier - or whatever saying is) but you'll find nothing but careless and overly aggressive racing in there, and yes even these licensed servers. Practice racing with some of the faster guys too on their servers as they usually run fun and challenging combos and help people out too.

Practice, watch world record replays, ask questions, ask nicely for setups, be friendly, and have fun!

Quote from AlienT. :Hey don't use my name in vain

I would say it's just because it's new to you, mine felt a bit odd at first after using the mouse...persevere and I'm sure you will get there and enjoy it.

There is plenty of advice on G25 settings in the forum, just do a search and I'm pretty sure you will get all the info you need. I don't think I changed any of the settings on mine except the wheel turn settings depending on which car I'm driving....it seemed to work fine 'out of the box'. I tend to have the in game force feedback settings quite low as long stints driving with the settings up high hurt my arms

Mr. Muscle, *not*

But yeah don't expect WR times instantly as it will never happen, just take your time and you'll be OK with it. I had the same problem when I got my DFP, at first I really didn't agree with it and was debating whether or not to sell it. 8 Months on and I'm glad I kept it because I wouldn't be people to play without it!

Watch out for the knock off names though mate, like Yamamaoto and Hukifuki they're no good and break too easily.

Good luck!
