I only really play LFS now because of the MoE and the commitment I've made to my team, I think for me LFS just needs new vehicles because I'm pretty happy with the number of tracks we have at the moment.
Whenever I find myself playing rFactor or any other sim, I always go for the same track (Nürburgring/Nordschleife) and usually have a different car/mod loaded, so for me LFS would need at least two more cars to keep me occupied for another 4 months.
I'd like to see more road going cars, powerful saloons and such, I think we have a good amount of other cars but high performance saloon type cars is what we need
You people are annoying, stop pretending you actually care and give him what he wants!
Dark Force: As far as I'm aware there is no possible way other then some key logger to retrieve the password, it is possible to change the password without knowing it but that'd bust you almost instantly! If you're after this, there are two to ways go about it:
1) Create a Linux boot CD 'Live boot cd' and mount the drive and go this way - Or download a premade Boot CD that does all this for you so you only have to enter a new password.
2) If you gain access to the machine and wish to change the password when you're using it, you can simply do the following.
Open command prompt (Start > Run > CMD)
Type net user (This will display the usernames on the machine - Do this if you do not know which name you are currently on)
Once you know which username you're currently on type net user YOURUSERNAME *
The next two lines will ask you for a new password, and walla!
You could attempt to login as a Guest (although its probably not active) so that might not work, or for the time you do have access create another user account with administrator rights so you have your own user account!
Edit: Oh one last thing, try safe mode (Hit F8 during Boot) and see if you can login as Administrator (no password).
Good luck!
Stang70Fastback; Are you mental? Format 50% of the hard-drive and turn the machine off?
I've never heard such a bloody stupid idea in my life, I hope you were and joking, and if so at least put a ****ing warning on it.
I don't think its a good idea posting on behalf of other people such as the LFS Staff, secondly I don't think this concerns anyone but the LFS Staff (Victor more so) so why we have 10 people running over to their forum posting childish threats that read like a bad witch hunt is beyond me.
If you're not officially connected with LFS then don't meddle in their affairs, it really just makes the community look silly.
I agree, racism or any other form of abuse is unacceptable but over the past 50 years other types of abuse have started to become 'less important' and people only want to focus on a few, I think its simply because they're so easy to overhype and get people worked up.
Does anyone remember the crap the British gave Schumacher back in the day, and how much abuse he had to take from the pissed up bigots and loud mouthes? Probably not? But its all the same, the only difference is that he was German but I guess that made it ok, right? I think it went as far as his bus being attacked and the German flag being ripped down and such, but what the hell.
So next time you people start looking for blood and punishing a whole nation of passionate F1 fans for the actions of a few, take a step back and take a second look, because from where I'm standing you're just as bad as they idiot few who think what they're doing is fine.
Some of you people are just straight up losers, I'd rather have my logo be associated with a torrent site then most of you lot, really I would.
It's blatant and its illegal so action will be taken, as for the content he hosts, well thats for him to worry about not you mini nerd detectives who seemingly wouldn't mind taking a bullet for a game.
Assuming the bittorent protocol does nothing but spread illegal copies of software and such, is like viewing the IP protocol in the same light, which is silly.
I'm not sure what size engine you have but I assume its still a four, so I wouldn't really worry too much about it over revving, once you've hit peak they just run out of steam so theres very little you can do to damage the engine. Maintenance on fours are a bitch and you really need to keep on top of it, I used to change my oil and filter after every other ride (YZF426) even if I'd only been out for an hour.
Another important thing you need to know is not to idle with these monsters as they really get hot quick, if you're not moving then turn the engine off.
If you're still after more advice I suggest you head over to the Thumbertalk forum, they have a special XR sub forum and I'm sure they'd be able to help you further!
I'm sure if you went to the US Embassy and explained the situation then they'd probably help you out and get you home, provided you have sufficent evidence that you're a US Citizen and you can prove that fact, I'm almost certain you'd be able to get back home.
They might even give you a small loan to get you home, but I can't be certain, give it a shot you've nothing to lose!
The problem was the kid was 18, he was drinking/drunk and had 4 other male passengers in a 500bhp saloon supercar. If anything, being in the M5 would have probably been the safest place to be doing those sorts of speeds, I've been in my dads M5 countless of times doing well over 280K in Germany and nothing happened.
His parents should not of let him in drive such a powerful bit of machinery its really that simple, cars are not toys and cars with 500bhp that weigh 1800kg's are certinaly not intended for kids to drive.
I've yet to try it but from what I've seen so far I have to say I'm very impressed with this little tool, thanks again for your work Mike its been a god send
Center split times on screen:
Go to VIEW and take a look round, I can't remember it off the top of my head but its there somewhere.
Real time gaps:
This is also somewhere in VIEW I think but again I can't remember completely, but basically it displays a list (like connections list) on the bottom right side of the screen updating as the players reach the split.
The damage has already been done with the release of LFS-Tune and its method of holding the offsets, ciph should just spend 10 minutes knocking together a simple download/update system that can retrieve the data from online. I've already implemented my own update feature that automatically retrieves any updated offsets and such, I think letting them sit in a readable .ini file is just begging for trouble really. I'm sure a few people have clocked on already how to find more of the remaining offsets and use LFS-Tune as a compiled injection like method.
The concern is more to do with you being demo then anything else, if you have the ability to pretty much create your own cars then you're almost licensed (apparently - although I disagree).
As for a language well I'm not sure its up to you really, I've been playing with VB6/VB.NET and some other variants but Its down to you really.
You can find a free copy of VB.NET Express @ the Microsoft website - Just google "VB.NET Express" or C# Express I think?
It isn't difficult, compared to say coding a cheat for a game such as BF2 but you're still going to need to understand a few fundamental things to get going. Firstly you're going to have to either concentrate on the memory hacking/debugging aspect of it all, or focus on learning some basic programming to wrap it into a nice little package.
I suppose someone could come along and just give you all the answers and show you how to do it, but that will only lead to you releasing it and generally causing a mess for the forum overlords. I guess if you took some time and went about how to do it properly, you'd take a greater interest in releasing something to the public as well for yourself.
If you however get an S2 license I'll consider giving you some of my source code related to LFS stuff, as well as a few other pointers on how to get going - If you're intrested that is
The LX8 is pretty piss poor to drive with the tyre physics that were on that version of LFS, I managed to nab a copy from a friend and it isn't all that great really
If it was dumped into patch Y it would definitely be awesome and fun to drive, until then we can all hope and tweak till we get it.
joen; He never actually complained about the level of realism, so what are you flapping on about? You're obviously so focused on hammering anyone who disagrees with you and your club that you failed to read what Fat-Alfie actually posted.
tristan; Not get what you wanted from Santa this year or do you just enjoying attacking people for the fun on it?
Oh right, You mean the small 'club' you've formed that essentially goes around posting junk and ridiculing anyone that doesn't agree with the 'club' motto. I just love all the playground politics and backhanded crap you idiots post, you all seem to forget that this is only a GAME (simulated yes - but ultimately a GAME) yet you take it so serious.
ajp71; Your idea of smashing the window might get the job done quicker but its probably the most stupid approach, prying the door open a notch to get a thin metal wire through to open the door is cheaper and less fuss. Sure you could 'potentially' damage the door but you'd have to yank it so hard the window would probably break to begin with, I've used this technique on two cars myself - A big lug Pajeero and a 5 Series BMW and both had no damage to the door what so ever.
Another method worth considering is pulling down on a window with your hands (try and get someone to help with it) and try and force the window down a little to get something in there to open the door.
