Quote from DreaF :Well, without the extraweight Jay did a 38,4. I think a middle 38 should be a possible target without extraweight for a FZR. Ray can do 38s now, so i think it is quite fair now!

Ray has only done one 38.97 with the XRR and you lot can already do mid 38's, how is this fair or balanced? I think jonesy has only done 39.0X too.

Quote from DaveWS :Well, if that's the case, then the FZR is nowhere, because in eTM (patch X) the fastest FZR was low 38, and there is no way you can match that now with R3's...

Good! Because the XRR will struggle to do 38's to begin with, let alone low 38's - So what sort of times are you wanting to get?

Quote from Clownpaint :Then at Westhill the XRR had an advantage, yet no ballast was given, it was allowed to comfortably take victory with less pit stops and faster lap times. Nobody questioned this.

The XRR and FZR were balanced in terms of speed at Westhill just look at the eTM results, you'll notice even Jesse putting down the fastest time with FZR - So where was Jonesy's advantage there? The only disadvantage you FZR lot had at the MoE was that your tyres and setups were rubbish with the added 80kg, but a few weeks on and everyone in the FZR starts to haul ass just like that?

It also looks as if 20KG is OK although I haven't tested anything and this is all from Ray saying so.

Center split times on screen:
Go to VIEW and take a look round, I can't remember it off the top of my head but its there somewhere.

Real time gaps:
This is also somewhere in VIEW I think but again I can't remember completely, but basically it displays a list (like connections list) on the bottom right side of the screen updating as the players reach the split.

Quote from Bob Smith :Many of the apps benefit demo racers. No need to exclude them from everything for the sake of one hacky program. I didn't look at the .ini file when I approved the app but a simply having a binary file format would make sense. If you can decode that then you know enough to edit memory anyway.

The damage has already been done with the release of LFS-Tune and its method of holding the offsets, ciph should just spend 10 minutes knocking together a simple download/update system that can retrieve the data from online. I've already implemented my own update feature that automatically retrieves any updated offsets and such, I think letting them sit in a readable .ini file is just begging for trouble really. I'm sure a few people have clocked on already how to find more of the remaining offsets and use LFS-Tune as a compiled injection like method.

Quote from AppiePils :
  • KY3 cars were pretty much equal,
  • SO4 small overhand for the FZR,
  • WE1 major overhand for the XRR.
  • This round the FZR seems to have a major overhand on teh XRR
  • Next round the XRR seems to have a small overhand on the FZR
  • KY2 not sure.
The above provides me with the following overview:
FZR: equal, small, major
XRR: equal, major, small

The XRR and FZR were fine in terms of speed at WE1, as they were both capable of doing the same times, its just the XRR handled the tyres better under stress because it only had 30KG on board. Check the eTM times and you will see the FZR was as fast if not faster, it just had trouble with tyres at the time for long races. But now that we are all on R3s the XRR's tyre advantage sort of disappears.

The XRR will do low 41's and maybe some high 40's for the first 10 laps if you start with 60/70% fuel, but anymore and you're not going to be seeing many 41's and you'll probably not see 40's for a while either. We are basically back to how it used to be with the FZR dominating but this time we're on all R3's with different shifting types.

Chris; Can you send me your setup you were using that got you 40.6X on your first laps with 90% fuel, because my set obviously sucks major ass

Quote from ronchie :i understand everyones concern but like i said i have no intent to release anything! not now not if i get good im just not interested for that, just learn a little and have some fun. what should i be learning ? c, c#

The concern is more to do with you being demo then anything else, if you have the ability to pretty much create your own cars then you're almost licensed (apparently - although I disagree).

As for a language well I'm not sure its up to you really, I've been playing with VB6/VB.NET and some other variants but Its down to you really.

You can find a free copy of VB.NET Express @ the Microsoft website - Just google "VB.NET Express" or C# Express I think?

It isn't difficult, compared to say coding a cheat for a game such as BF2 but you're still going to need to understand a few fundamental things to get going. Firstly you're going to have to either concentrate on the memory hacking/debugging aspect of it all, or focus on learning some basic programming to wrap it into a nice little package.

I suppose someone could come along and just give you all the answers and show you how to do it, but that will only lead to you releasing it and generally causing a mess for the forum overlords. I guess if you took some time and went about how to do it properly, you'd take a greater interest in releasing something to the public as well for yourself.

If you however get an S2 license I'll consider giving you some of my source code related to LFS stuff, as well as a few other pointers on how to get going - If you're intrested that is

The LX8 is pretty piss poor to drive with the tyre physics that were on that version of LFS, I managed to nab a copy from a friend and it isn't all that great really

If it was dumped into patch Y it would definitely be awesome and fun to drive, until then we can all hope and tweak till we get it.

Quote from JTbo :Can't find way to make that cylinder numbers to work, also could not find anything from BF1 range that would be 8 or similar.

LX cars, cylinder number and turbo pressure (enabled/disabled) and I would be happy

Something I noted while searching.
memory addresses...

Why not to write app that scans known range and plots values to boxes? It could have user editable labels and user editable range, perhaps few empty boxes where user could put range or address?
Edit:
Also you could do search automatically by adding filtering to results so that all lines containing '-' sign are omitted as those are probably worthless for these purposes we are using program?

Thats the beauty of car classes, once you've found the first one then finding the rest is easy You've pretty much got it all there to be honest.

joen; He never actually complained about the level of realism, so what are you flapping on about? You're obviously so focused on hammering anyone who disagrees with you and your club that you failed to read what Fat-Alfie actually posted.

tristan; Not get what you wanted from Santa this year or do you just enjoying attacking people for the fun on it?
Quote :We do hope that when LFS becomes too hard for you to cope with you'll feck off and play something else, because we like Scawen's vision, and that's for more realism

Oh right, You mean the small 'club' you've formed that essentially goes around posting junk and ridiculing anyone that doesn't agree with the 'club' motto. I just love all the playground politics and backhanded crap you idiots post, you all seem to forget that this is only a GAME (simulated yes - but ultimately a GAME) yet you take it so serious.

ajp71; Your idea of smashing the window might get the job done quicker but its probably the most stupid approach, prying the door open a notch to get a thin metal wire through to open the door is cheaper and less fuss. Sure you could 'potentially' damage the door but you'd have to yank it so hard the window would probably break to begin with, I've used this technique on two cars myself - A big lug Pajeero and a 5 Series BMW and both had no damage to the door what so ever.

Another method worth considering is pulling down on a window with your hands (try and get someone to help with it) and try and force the window down a little to get something in there to open the door.

Quote from Arrow Karts 8 :Hey guys, I'm running F8 with wine to try and run a test server for a project.

Does anyone know if wine has a firewall or settings that need to allow the host to connect to the master server, because atm it won't go outside our network(to connect to the master serveR) even though our firewall allows the ports for insim and LFS.

any ideas?

cheers

Fusion. Flip

No.

Are you sure you've setup your firewall correctly, and are you sure you've allowed the appropriate ports?

Try and yank on the top of the door, bend it very slightly and get some stiff wire down there to open the door. I've done it a few times, just try not to bend the door too much so its not permanent.

Quote from Gunn :Not offended in the least, but you present mods as not taking action which (as you know) is simply not true. I deliberately avoided pointing out that you yourself had been spoken to. I hope this shows you that we aren't about making people look bad just because they might have been a bit rash with their comments or behaviour.

Merry Christmas etc.

I think I'll call it a day with all this commotion, it's getting silly (myself included) and people are starting to offend or become offended, anyway Merry Christmas to you all and what not. I'm off to play some, eat some, and drink a whole lot more.

Quote from mkinnov8 :Why do you feel the need to make that information public other than to arouse attention?

As for the "Forum Gadgets" - Do you honestly think that you lot could handle that? I doubt it.

Its hardly worthy of an announcement and it was only supplied to back up my point that I'm aware of people receiving warnings.

And 'you lot' - Well that lot would include you and it was meant as a joke, so just take a breather and don't jump too soon.

Stoney: Lighten up, it really isn't a big deal and was posted in good spirit.

Quote from Gunn :Plenty of members have been dealt with in a disciplinary manner in the past week. Just because we don't drag them across the coals publicly doesn't mean we don't act. This isn't reality TV.

That reads as if you're almost offended by what I said, and I'm very much aware of the disciplinary action taken against offending users as I received my first warning last night.

Oh and reality TV has the added bonus (usually) of voting people off and such, I think it would be a decent addition to the forum gadgets!
