Yah I think the microphone level was ok, just me not speaking into it that loudly and clearly, I'm a bit of a mumbler already so put me in a tense situation etc, just makes it worse lol.

Reason : cos I wanted to, and it's my post so I'll damn well edit if if I want to.
Oh yah about the music. Well, the reason was as I mentioned on the stream was that having my own play list with decent music (not that shite Fireballs played lol) was the main reason I agreed to do OLFSLtv. I didn't think it would actually lose the vote, it did, but I overruled the majority verdict. If you don't like it, please feel free to start the 'Bring Back Fireball' campaign I mentioned
Well I still think people should take disconnections and lag outs as an engine reliabilty problem. As an engine can at anytime die during real racing, so can an internet connection. Anyone wanting 100% reliabilty should play offline and turn the damage off (I know you can't in LFS but you know what I mean).
Points for lagouts, well, I guess maybe there should be a minimum of one point for any driver who starts a race, if they lag out, they still get one point for showing up.
Thanks for ripping the streams... everyone can have their own copy of my fantastic commentary to enjoy at any time. You could even burn it to DVD to give to loved ones as presents at Christmas and other festivites.
Don't think I can record the streams here, not whilst creating them, would take too much cpu power and bandwidth, needs a lot the streaming does.

Overall quite happy with the technical side, the buffering of the stream was quite low so not too much psychedelia for you all to endure. Sorry about the mic level and commentating, first time added a mic to the stream, could'nt get it to work right so had to use a workaround. Also zero experience of commentating didn't help either.
Quality seemed fine to me, might be able to get it better, but was being conservative with the nsv settings, didn't want it to crash at any point.
Just to say, the official rule is that hosts change the server password after the race starts, so that any latecomers can't join and create a fuss or mess things up. So if you are disconnected, then find the password is wrong, now you know why.
depends on what you mean by commentate. If you mean type messages to the racers, then yes, if necessary, they can.
If you mean for the OLFSLtv, then as I am the only one doing that, then yes If i'm hosting I may be commentating for the stream at the same time, as they don't really conflict as I have to sit and watch the race anyways.
Hi, TysCaargh. No schedule yet, as the pools aren't done yet. I'll do a schedule on the Saturday before the race itself.
My only thoughts are, that the stream is only of any difference to the replay in the case of music and commentary, because as we know, replays are made available after race too. I guess I should do the commentry to make it worth while, i don't know. Gonna get some good music together anyways.
This is sound like a good tool, especially the action detector.
I've experimented with autokeys, which works, but this sounds better.
So far all I can do is get views and cars switching automatically on a set routine, but very interested in this for OLFSLtv (www.lfs-league.com), would be willing to finance for a final version, if not freeware of course.
- edit.
Ok, I've just used it and it is fantastic.
only two complaints.
1 = if someone is standing on track after a crash, the camera stays on them for far too long, even when they are standing still.
2 = maybe it should jump to the leader every now and then, watched a race where the leader had no action, the camera never went to the front, stayed in midfield.
Other than that, brilliant.
I too would like help with other tracks, if needed.
If someone wants the job of ripping streams, then feel free. We could probably put the tv files on the main site for download too, so that people who couldn't watch live could still see them. (I'm sure I can sweet talk FienDi).
Yes that final jump does a lot of damage, but, I'm sure there are setups about with the right suspension to cope with it. I think I would've survived the damage over 40 laps, however damage from the rest of events pushed it over the top!
edit.
Tim, and everyone in Nassa 2. I quite liked the emergency 2 minute quali we had to do before the race, very much fun, everyone having to do one flying lap, on track at the same time. I would actually suggest that for OLFSL itslef, although, think too many people would complain about it, but I think it's really good.

Reason : thought of something just as I hit send.
This was the first time the full stream setup was in action, so, bugs were bound to arrise.
What went well:
Stream stayed up during the whole race!
From my view video quality was ok.
Sound and music seemed ok overall.
What went wrong.
At my end, Winamp froze several times during stream, if this happened to you, please note, this was not the stream, but winamp. Not sure why this happened.
I changed the codec last minute from VP6.2 to VP6.1 and VLC stopped working, which is puzzling.
But hey, I've learned some stuff, will do some more streaming during the week to iron out all bugs before Sunday.
Right then. The stream will be live tonight from 1700 gmt - you will need latest winamp or VLC with the VP6 plugin.
Feedback on picture quality, amount of buffering and sound quality please. Bear in mind, that if your connection is less than 300k per second, then you will have buffering anyway, minimum required is 512k download.
Well the members have had their say and one car has been changed, I do not think we should have any more votes about car changes otherwise this will get silly.
