As said lot of times, seems that V patch will have an hardcore mode.
The problem is that atm is not much realistic to have all the infos about laptimes, positions, lap done, tyre temps etc on the screen hud.
Those infos are usefull, and realistic too, but should be visualized in the incar LCD (like the Fox one), in a similar way to the one used on GTR (1 and 2) incar motec display.
Kev, i think that the best way for improving your driving is to open Analyze for speed, open the WR lap Raf file, your lap raf file, and check the differences at x0.25 velocity
Then, After that you have understood what are you doing wrong, try to correct your errors (and prey for a good time lol )
Imho is better to understood first the track, then to change the setup
edit: ops, was reading the kev's thread and thought was this, but it's the same lol xD
P.S: If Eric has been able to buy a new house with his part of lfs sales you should have earned much. An house here costs not less then 3 hundred thousant euros...
It would be usefull to have the possibility of add and modify current track cameras for each track, for example adding new ones or editing the current ones.
If you want to spectate a race, after a while it became a bit boring because the cameras are not that exciting.
Imho, if possible, there should be the ability of scripting cameras sequences too.
With "scripting cameras sequences" i mean something like:
if distance between pilotA and pilotB is < 0.5 sec, then use camera custom2
or
each 3 laps at split 3 use OnboardCam3
Those scripts could be saved in data/script directory under names like
CAM_FE2R_namecustomcam.lfs
and autoloaded onto autoexec.lfs file too
P.S: don't answer "use shift-U", this is meant to be an automatic system, without any user input during the camera changes
Don't know if this is the right place for saying that, but there is a bug in the italian translation (in U version too) of the clutchpack string:
- In english is Power and Coast
- In LFS Italian version is Posteriore (post) and Anteriore (ant), that in english mean Rear and Front
- The right translations should be "Potenza" (power) and "Rilascio" (Coast)
Imho both 8, but in rfactor u need time for figuring how setup right all the options of the game.
I have both and i like both, but i play more lfs then rf because it suit better fast races. And the FF make the overall experience much more realistic
I have GTR2 too, and imho is good game, but absolutely need to edit the fov in the plr file, because the default one is horribly irrealistic.
About the napp patch for gtr2, i don't like much it, imho the overall track grip (lowered from 100% to 97%) is too low for slick tyres. And i have noticed too some strange suspension movement during weight transfers. Maybe because im using default setups that does not fit well with nap physics.
I know the guy that wrote the "review", i DON'T think that he wrote that because he wanted to purposely say "rf is better then lfs", infact in certain parts, like the TC one for rf and the suspension one on lfs he found 2 of the problems of both the simulators.
But there are certain things in that review that i don't like at all, for example the testing on the oval instead of circuits like Aston Grand prix, that have lot of fast straights, or the fact of saying that full brake force in lfs is a lot stronger then in rf, instead of saying something like "at 1000 Nm rf car goes from 300 to 0 in X metres, lfs one in Y metres"
However i will speak with him, maybe he will do some correction in future ASS releases
Isn't alonso the "better fairly driver" that purposely braked and going very slow on hungary for making schumacher overtaking him and take the penality during his launched lap?
Check your braking zone and the modulation that you use on the pedals.
And, for the first period, keep attention on using only one foot at time on pedals. Take a look to team inferno setups too.
Use a lot XFG, is a good training for starting. Better if on fernbay and southcity.
Tight tracks have lot of object, that are usefull "visual checkpoints" that helps on understanding what you are doing
About racing room, i think that the problem is a bit more complexed.
Is not just people "ignorance" on racing etiquette or evil racers running around.
I think that a sort of skill is involved too. When you are trying to overtake or to defend urself from overtaking, lot of times, u have to recalculate your usual trajectory and made one with limited space, limited braking zone, less downforce if u are drafting, as fast as you can for mantaining or obtaining the position.
Lot of times, if people that are on ur inside crash on u on exit, or people outside crash on u on entering, is because they don't know how to run in that limited space without crashing out of the track, so they desperately try to remain in, involving other peoples in crashes.
It's a sort of lack of training/experience under close racing situations
