something very wrong with this version.

I just spinned the normal car doing 50kph on 2nd gear... just like that.

finally played it

1.37,358

Transitions from loss of grip to gain of grip are f*cked. The car keeps sliding like the tires are melted.

seems like many lfs'ers will spend 349€ on Ps3slim+ gt5 pack.

I'm glad. Already have mine since 2007

I wonder how the online will be.

so yet unreleased games are "vapourware".

interesting. GT5's a figment of my imagination after all.

If a car can do it, LFS should allow it.

its not like Motorbike or surfing fans come here to complain. Drifting is about cars as well.

Quote from Dajmin :Weather might cause performance issues, but I don't see why it should - plenty of games have similar scope and manage it. GTA4 had a decent cycle of conditions, and that was a while back now.

But time of day transitions won't have any effect on performance - they're already using realtime lighting, so moving that light source around isn't going to add or remove anything. Obviously they'd need to also have a skybox transition, but that's just a texture so it shouldn't cause any problems.
Although I guess with a changing ToD, they'd need to include dynamic lights on the cars and around the tracks too, which is where the real performance hit would come into play. That graphic quality, crazy amounts of shaders on each car PLUS light sources flying around, casting shadows all over the place? Could be nasty.

I hope they can implement it though, because it would be nice to have a range of experiences available for each track.

gta4 crawls at 30fps at best. Lots of stuttering etc.

GT5 is sweet 60fps 1080p (well, upscaled but still very nice).

the physics are allright

You have to have the skills used in simulators to control the cars and drive fast in GT5P.

That makes it a sim in my eyes. Altough prologue is bugged in many things and lacks some others.

Can't talk about GT5, haven't played it on my g25

give me a break.

that wheel being controlled by a dualshock. Everybody can tell that. So why play dumb? The game still has full G25 support

Having the grip in tires go away due to wear (rather than just heat) would add a lot to LFS league racing. As it is, as long as they don't pop, you don't even think about wear.

exactly With wear you should lose many more seconds per lap than a hot tire does. Because the sticky rubber is low.

In LFS (its in alpha though), its still all about the heat.

Think about it. The main factor of all (wear) is only relevant to LFS tires because it affects how quickly one loses temperature overtime.
So in 20 or 30 laps you only lose seconds because the tire can't keep the heat and not because of the "wear" per se.

Bottom line is, I don't like to point out faults on an Alpha product while demanding a fix like I'm entitled or something. Fault or no fault, Its bullsh*t attitude.
He's right about the heat though

Last I saw, LFS doesn't mention if the tires are "winter" tires.

Quote from Dajmin :It's designed for a joypad, so of course it needs to have some give and take with regards to making it feel right without making it impossible to control. I know you CAN use a wheel, but it's designed with the 100% market in mind - all console owners have pads, far fewer have wheels as well.
LFS, on the other hand, is a nightmare to control via a joypad and that's the reason I can't play it online any more. It's all about target markets.

I love both Forza on the 360 and GT5P on the PS3. They both feel right with regards to physics. Realistic, the feeling of weight when you launch the car into a corner, but still controllable on the tiny turning range of a joypad. Looking forward to FM3 and GT5 in about equal measure.
I want to try Enthusia though - makes me wish I had a backwards compatible PS3

In the tour made to their offices, all I saw was DFP's hooked up to ps3's. And its how the "boss" yamasomething tests the new builds.

All the other guys building the graphics and interface had sixasis.

So I don't know about that. It does feel good when I drive it with my g25, it could pass as a simulator hands down.

The Virginia International Raceway is pretty spectacular... I like it better than lime rock. And it has so many configurations. Two of them are 6.5km long

I finally tried this simulator.

The biggest difference I could tell from other simulators is the asphalt
condition and how believable it drives over those bumps and imperfections.
(although in replays, you see the car floating a lot)

skip barber + Lime rock is awesome. But I don't really "feel" the radical and
madza. At least not when compared to the experience of barber.
Graphics are spot on. The color composition is very good. Overall is very
very realistic.

Still, I'm not convinced to buy it.
If it was a one time purchase, the regular 59€, it would be a done deal
But because although it seems there is many content, 70% of it is for ovals. The other 30% of the game
is not enough to couch a >100€ subscription in which you still have to pay
for additional stuff as it comes out.

For the type of racer I am, there are way too many ovals and very few
"good" regular tracks.
ps: where are European tracks?
I feel this game is made for Texan-Americans-drivers.
Too bad because I like the driving

Anti-aliasing is a hit or miss. Same with anisotropic filtering...
Doesn't work. 4x is still jaggied.

Why cant he let the drivers decide what to use? I want to use heavy filters like supersampling etc, but doesn't work.

I hate jaggies.

Quote from niall09 :Nope.

It seems ridiculous, go to Aviano gp circuit and into T1 or T3 - brake at about 70% in a straight line and watch the car slide. If that happens in real life, I'll eat my hat.

Quote from tristancliffe :It doesn't happen in real life.

Its a setup thing. The brake ratio 63% to front wheels is too low. The rear always locks.

just change it to your preference. I have 70% to front wheels.

its my opinion that when simulations reach such a level, very little tells them apart. I'm talking about driving only.

About the rest, some things netkar does better (I feel more immerse in nk, the car bounces really believably) and others lfs still does much better (the entire online component in my opinion).

Graphics wise, nkpro really needs an artist because everything looks way way too dark. Nothing in plain daylight should look that dark and sad. LFS graphics seem simpler but the colors composition is spot on.

Quote from titanLS :I seem to be running out of gas or something... I qualify, and then the car just dies on lap 1 or 2 of the race. Then I can't restart it in the pits, nor can I find where to add fuel in the garage. I'm sure once I learn the ropes all these little "immersion" features will be fine, but starting out it's a PITA. Main? Click. Ignition? Click. Car starting? Nope. Gas? Who knows...

Overall it feels good, still getting used to it. Catching slides seems overly easy in the 1600, and using the brakes to turn the car or trim mid corner speed does seem to induce an unrecoverable spin as per Trsitan's post.
Gearbox feels fine to me.

I do like the trackside flags though...

its right there in setup1 i think.... The option "fuel tank" right next to the litters you choose for the tank

now that you are talking about it, what are the ideal wingman profile settings for the G25? Just like the lfs ones?

This drives very well.

Technically the graphics arent "bad", but some artistic choices make them feel like night driving with a blue sky on top. This is because the asphalt is always shiny. Its always on the top of the grey scale (almost white). It overpowers everything. Eveything seems dark because of it.

Can we replace the asphald texture or disable the shader that makes it always shiny?

This game really needs an artist to correct the color composition of the tracks.
