Annabelle hangs out a lot on the FM server racing on oval track.

~*~*~*~tinyk~*~*~*~

Dunno if I told you, but if I DID come to your town to meet with you, you wouldn't be the first girl I went to the US for... In fact, I'm fixin' to go see her this summer... How far from New Orleans are ya?

As for Annabelle... She wasn't the fastest woman on S1, but there was something about her that made it impossible for me to pass her. Speaking of passing women... How about you and me actually compete in a race sometime. I've seen you on the servers, but never actually raced you. It's about time, dunya think?

Quote from Tweaker :On the subject of some girls playing LFS... I haven't seen one in a long time since I knew about tiny. Back in S1 there were a few, but they haven't been around much anymore.... it's a shame, cuz some girls do like racing cars. Givem a wheel, pedals, and a BMW, and they will surely cut you off online

You ever seen Annabelle around in S2?

Quote from (SaM) :What Is the First Day of the Week?
  • The Bible clearly makes the Sabbath the last day of the week, but does not share how that corresponds to our 7 day week. Yet through extra-biblical sources it is possible to determine that the Sabbath at the time of Christ corresponds to our current 'Saturday.' Therefore it is common Jewish and Christian practice to regard Sunday as the first day of the week (as is also evident from the Portuguese names for the week days). However, the fact that, for example, Russian uses the name "second" for Tuesday, indicates that some nations regard Monday as the first day.

In international standard ISO-8601 the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has decreed that Monday shall be the first day of the week.
Source: http://webexhibits.org/calenda ... CTION00650000000000000000

And what if I don't like the Christian way of thinking, nor the International Standardization Organisation? From this day forth, the thursday shall be the start of the week for all things LFS!

Quote from ColeusRattus :Saturday and Sunday are part of the week :P

But your able brings me to another interesting observation: 2000 years of christian domination in europe, but still we use old, "pagan" names for the days:

Montag = monday, day to honour germanic diety Mani, god of the moon.
Dienstag = tuesday, day to honour the germanic diety Ziu, Tiu or Tyr, also known as Saxnot, the god of war
Donnerstag = thursday, day to honour the germanic diety Donar or Thor, god of thunder
Freitag = friday, day to honor the germanic diety Freya, goddess of fertility (who is also the origin of the Easterbunny and -eggs...)
Sonntag = Sunday, day to honour the gemranic diety Sunna or Sol, goddess of the sun.

Mittwoch is obvioulsy not religion related, and the german "Samstag" is originating from the jewish Shabbat, so can be regarded as Christian.

Wednesday is the day to honour Woden or Wotan or Odin, the supreme god of germanic mythology
The english saturday on the other hand is the day to honour the roman diety Saturn, god of farming.

EDIT: So pretty mch every weekday has germanic or nordic roots. Only Saturday is out of place with a roman/jewish name... guess I need ot research on that matter, as germanic people would have had definately their own name for this day. So why was it dropped?

I don't know why Saturday was dropped...
I do know that a lot of christian holidays were set to pagan days of feasting to make it easier for them to adopt to the new christian religion.
Christmas being the biggest, was set to the days of the pagan midwinter soltice.

Excuse me, but why does every post of a poll or a review that includes LFS have to end in a discussion between us LFS fans and the authors/creators of the piece in these forums?

It's nice of y'all to point them to our forums, and I like more people knowing we exist as a community... But don't you think there are better ways to do that?

Quote from ColeusRattus :Hmm... my eeling tells me that Monday is the first day of a week. But in German, wednesday is "Mittwoch" which is the "middle of the week". But if Monday would be the first day, Thursday would be in the middle...

But honestly, i don't care. Guess everyone could start the week whenever he want's.

Saturday and Sunday is WeekEND... End of the week, as in "not the week anymore"... So there's only 5 days in the week:

monday - montag
tuesday - dienstag
wednesday - mittwoch <-- middle of the week
thursday - donnerstag
friday - freitag

To all dutch peeps that said they've always learned sunday was the start of the week... What kind of elementary school did you go to?
Katholiek, Protestants Christelijk, Gereformeerd, of openbaar?

Quote from JTbo :I think that reason was because of leak in exhaust so I got false information from mixture and rich micture was causing lambda's death.

Of course could be that ignition is bit late, but I can't adjust it yet, need to build new ignition so I could control it.

Or then it is just that I have hitted rev limiter too often, but is not my fault, it just come too early :P
There are flames coming out when limiter is hit, or so I was told by friend that raced behind me...

So basicly I do have now first easier test going on with new exhaust manifold that has place for lambda in it and if that does not help, then I really need to start building that ignition thing.

Why can't you adjust the ignition timing? There is a manual way of doing it.

You should not hit the rev limiter... Reprogram that thing And flames coming out of the exhaust is bad for 2 reasons... 1) it'll burn your cat if you have one (prolly not), and 2) it's incomplete combustion, and could cause the lambda to literally fry.

Well I have not many hobbies, car stuff is number one, tomorrow installing new exhaust manifold and yet another lambda sensor, because old one decided to go crazy (2 died this summer).

Narrow band goes near 2 Volts, pic from log

That Lambda is doing the illepall thing, yes...
But ehmmm... If the next one going in would be #4, I'd be looking at why it fries them. Lambda's aren't cheap if you go through them like six-packs on the weekends. U not using NOS are you?

Quote from Fordman :hmm, Tagforce, but this one free. Obviously, if it is illegal to play in your country ( Which I think it is, only IF you play for REAL money ) then don't play it. And also, if you get hooked, then don't blame me
httpcolonforwardslashforwardslashwwwdotholdempokerdotcom.

I ( we, T7R ) play this also. We used to have our own table where we would all join in ( playing money only, not real ) and have a laugh. This became more difficult since they now have 2 servers, and you usally end up on different ones, and you cannot see server 1 from server 2 etc etc

But if anybody signs up, give me shout. I won't mind taking all your Virtual money

Hmmm... It seems there are some hold'em players where you least expect them. Thought I would be the only one on here, apart from the Americans.

I'm hooked to the game... Not the playing for money part.

As for it being illegal... I think 5 card draw is illegal here, because it's classified as a chance game. I think Hold'em is classified as a skill game. But I don't really care

Well... I can't link to what else I like spending a lot of time on, since I think it would be illegal in a lot of countries, nor would it be appreciated by the people running this website if I got you lot hooked on stuff that costs money...

I can tell you though...

Texas Hold'em Poker is my favorite passtime activity at the moment.
It seems like a game of luck, but actually when you dive into it you'll find out it takes a lot of skill to play it to the point it can make you money.

Quote from Shotglass :tag i wanted to do a converter myself but i just couldnt gather the info needed to understand how raf and outsim outputs are conected

When at first you don't succeed... Try, and try again... (and remember skydiving is not for you).

My guess is that they're not different, but then... I haven't even begun to check anything in game.

Ah... I see your problem... Yeah, that's going to be a tough one... But the info should be there, and it should be deductable. Even if the result is a bit funky in car behaviour.
Maybe Scawen can shed some light on this subject. Or a good search of the forums may help.

Just remember that this is the first thing I'm trying to do with games since good old SCGT... So I'm relearning Delphi as I go along.

Alright... Time to get the old Delphi out of the closet... That is of course unless anybody has any real objections about being able to race wr replays in your car?

BTW... Are you using the filename for trackID?

Ditch IE, get Firefox, download MS AntiSpyware, and A good 3rd party Spyware scanner, and have them scan your PC...
Next, disable the frikkin new XP Windows Update tool if you have it (great tool if it wouldn't suck so bad), and possibly run NAI Stinger tool to be sure.

It sounds like a window gets focus for a millisecond and disappears again (probably leaving a service running).

Also, if you have fast user switching turned on in XP, turn it off... It's useless for 99% of the people and causes problems with some services.

Quote from RichardTowler :just a general number out my head that I feels represents the number, seriously, every single racing game I've played has damage now, apart from the GT series, for example, gtr, gtl, nascar, project gotham racing, rallisport challenge, world racing, wrc games, formula 1 games.

GT series is a huge marketing thing for the car makers, and I'm sure put in a position, be included or not they'd suffer damage on there cars just to get in the game.

And the games you mentioned are supported by a series, and manufacturers have nothing to say in their creation... Except for few.

EAs NFS series has gone without damage for a long time, simply because the manufacturers didn't allow it...

I'm pretty sure it's the other way around... No damage system in the game to get a car in it people would want to drive goes a long way with current day publishers.

Quote from KiDCoDEa :WTF DOES A HW FEATURE OF YOUR SYSTEM GOT TO DO WITH LFS?

next im gonna create a thread "informing" everyone to disable AA and get more fps...

and why is a hardware related thread here? not even a good one at that.

Actually it's only a problem when it's NOT a hardware feature, but done entirely in software...

Yes, you prolly should create a thread like that... Difference between this one and your thread would be you'd see/hear no difference in LFS when you disable EAX support, except in framerates. FSAA is eyecandy and you can see the difference immediately.

Is it hardware related? I can see why you'd say it's not entirely LFS related, but it's not hardware related either... It's a configuration issue... Sooooo, we need a Configuration subforum, Vic.

Thread was created, info was released, comments were made... Move on, peeps.

Quote from sturje :This made me laugh In a real life situation drafting with a lead lapper after 3 laps results in a disqualification (aka the blue flag), Though i do have a few moans at the blue flag system on LFS :o . And passing on the right is not only probally one of the most useless passes one can do, but generally no-one expects a right pass and is dangerous.

But we keep these rules on the server for a bloody good race, i couldn't even imagine what it'd be like with no rules :| My god....

In oval racing losing a lap is deadly, because once a caution is out you lose about 2 minutes... So you may fight for your lap back.

Passing on the right is part of racing... Dangerous or not, it is part of racing. Someone blocks the inside, I'm sure as hell not going to lift and let him stay ahead of me, but I'm going to slingshot passed him on the outside.
The general rule for oval racing is very simple... If you're not sure you're clear... Hold your line.

I didn't say no rules, btw... Just these rules defy the entire point of oval racing and degrade it to a series of fast laps by two people who know how to draft. Maybe that's why I hate IRL, and love NASCAR so much.

I love racing the oval... There's usually about 5 or 6 potential winners racing there, and the occasional wrecker, and the rest are mediocre or noob oval racers. The only thing I do not like about the way people race the oval here is the stupid rules they like adhering to... Like not passing on the right, or not drafting the leader (when lapped). Oval racing is ALL about passing on the right and drafting the leader (or have the leader draft you)... Oval racing is about making friends in the race. Usually I have about 2 or 3 guys picked out from the pack whom I'll be really friendly with. And usually they return the favor when the time's right. Helping them get a lead when they're in front and I'm a lap down is part of being friendly.
In REAL Oval racing this is common practice, and since this is a sim...
