I've decided to give away a few copies of CLOD to promote this game a bit and one of those keys will be given away here.
It's inspired by and loosely based on the Live For Speed tradition of giving away licenses.

There are only a few simple rules to qualify:
1. You must not own Cliffs of Dover yet.
2. You must be registered on this forum since December 2011 or earlier.
3. Have a Steam account registered before today.
4. The selected winners must provide their steam ID privately when requested to verify their steam join date and that they dont already own a copy.
5. You should have a system that can run CLOD well, preferably a quadcore with a Nvidia 560Ti or better running on 64bit Win7.
6. Having previously posted in a flightsim thread on these forums will be a plus.

So if you'd like to participate make your submission in this forum thread providing:
1. Your systemspecs
2. Write a bit about why you want and deserve the key.

I will judge the submissions and decide who to award the key to.
Those who already own CLOD, remember to tell your friends or anyone you know here who's into flightsimming.
Close date for submissions is Friday 20th July 2012 at midnight (UTC time), and the key will be given out somewhere during Sunday 22nd July.

to replace my 11year old CRT

and 4 of these + steelies for the Zafira..First time I buy wintertyres but the thing is a bitch to get up the driveway or hills when it snows.

I guess..as true minimum I know there are people playing it with Nvidia 260 and 280 cards and others with 4850 or 4870 ..but they are sacrificing alot and hurt for FPS when attacking bombers or turning on grass.
For some reason pre 5XXX ATI cards seem to suck with CLOD, they were listed as supported at release but by now steam changed the list and left them out.

SUPPORTED VIDEO CARDS AT TIME OF RELEASE:
ATI®: 5830/5850/5770/5870/6870/6950/6970
NVidia®: 250/260/275/285/460/465/470/480

As the question was "minimum for playability" I listed what imho is the minimum to get decent playability..not minimum to run the game.
A 5850 or 5770 might be a better call for minimum ATI card to play properly and be more comparable to a GTX 460?

That's a hard one...some guys seem to get OK performance with lower spec systems while others complain with pretty high end ones.

As a minimum I'd say :
Windows 7 64bit , the game really hates 32-bit OS's and directX9 with a passion
3GHZ or more dualcore
Nvidia GTX 460 / ATI 5750 with a gig or more of VRAM
4Gb RAM

Recommended is more like :
Win 7 64bit (can't stress this enough)
quadcore of the last generation
560ti(or even 570) / ATI 6950 with 2GB VRAM
8Gb RAM

This is a game that's heavy on your pc, much like the original il2 was in 2001 or games like operation flashpoint /ARMA were on release.
But as long as you don't expect to run it maxxed out on an insane resolution those specs should do fine.

Bumping because Justflight and getgamesgo are selling CLOD at a massive discount of 75% till tuesday, comes to £8.75 / €12.49 / $12.49 now which is a bargain.

Game has improved alot since release and the next patch is supposed to have a complete engine overhaul which should improve FPS by quite a bit.
You still need a good pc, and especially graphicscard, to play big battles though.

Off throttle cap is for Silvestone 2011. The new exhaust rule will be for the 2012 season so the blown diffuser is completely eliminated.

Ugh horribad race for me, swapped my STR engine and chassis for FI as they looked like better choices and ended up 210points down compared to the old teamsetup..nvm the cash it cost.

Even worse is we are slipping back in the subleague , 4th now.

Yea sadly it seems to have more issues than acceptable.
Still keeping my preorder as I hope it will be playable after a patch or 2 and the UK-manual points to very promising features like the new CEM and bombing options.

This is a combination of Tor ,Privoxy and BBCplayer. Once it's unpacked just run bbcplayer.exe and choose your channel, smile, lean back and enjoy the free practise ,Qualy and races.
Live and in Hq on your PC! (Player also has bbc 1,2,3,4 CBBC and a few other channels.)

In case you run into an error make sure you rebooted afer installing MS visual and try launcing tor.exe (in the tor-folder) before launching theBBCplayer itself.

Newest IL-2 finally has a solid releasedate and can be preordered on steam.
All EU IL-2 fans can free up thu. 31/3 for epic airbattles over England ,France and Belgium.
