The short handle will make for limited movement and thus limited precision (like all gaming sticks these days) which to me exludes them from the high end and high precision market right away.

They claim that "All other sticks suck", "Current Force Feedback joysticks are very imprecise" and theirs have "extreme precision", so I doubt they have ever heard of the Tarmac Aces company.
These guys make long throw, true replica sticks (fe. no gamey return to zero)

I honestly can't see that metal heavy thing being more useful than a full CH-products setup(+-same pricecategory except it includes rudder pedals)..those who really want precision and high end would look at a long throw stick like the Tarmac Aces stuff.

Ps. Chris..make sure u sit down before looking at that site and what a base+grip+pedals would cost u

I'm on the same thoughtwave as Madcat, your windows was set (by u or a program) to a resolution that isn't supported by your monitor.

Simple solution should be to boot into safemode, set your resolution to the lowest possible and reboot.

Played it on an off since 2001 with every new release, but didn't get serious and into online play till 1946. (Before that I had Blueflame's problem of not surviving more than 3minutes online, which can be very discouraging :chairs: )
With 1946 I discovered the Warbirds Of Prey community and finally learnt to fly thanks to loads of tips on teamspeak and good pilots taking me on as their wingman.
They hold two weekly bombernights (one US ,one EU timezone) which are incredibly fun, check some of the movies here :

Only "excuse" I ever needed as I either go to work or am too sick in which case a doctor provides a written excuse

Some symptoms u describe point to a clear "yes u have an alcohol dependency".
Might not be a true problem right now, but u know as well as anyone else that it will turn into one if u don't a. stop altogether ; b. drastically reduce intake (fe. one drinking day a week, or max 7pints over the course of a week.)

Think u might have passed the point of self help though, but give it a try...NO alcohol whatsoever for 2months(no tasters, no excuses, not a drop).
If u can't muster that, go find professional help imho (all the way up to 6months-X years in a detoxcentre if the usual help won't suffice)
I know that some people will post that it's nothing to worry about, but if it starts affecting your day to day mood/behaviour/work there most certainly is a problem.

Barely touch alcohol myself, but one of my best friends had a serious fight with it from his teens onwards. He is finally clean after 8+ years in all kinds of centre's and even though his last glass was ~3years ago he still has cravings regularly. Doesn't dare touch a drop now as he is convinced he would relapse instantly.
Even from a relatively short addiction(though it ended with half a bottle of "insert whatever he could lay his hands on" in the morning,a bottle of vodka and a crate of beer as daily dose ,and then whatever he drank in the evenings/nights)..he now has one partly paralyzed leg from a freak nerve reaction on the Ant-abuse they gave him,still no job and living on social security for medical reasons and needs his bi weekly appointment with his shrink to get by. Even had a nervous breakdown as recently as 4months ago and needed to go back to daycare for 2months.

Don't let it come this far is all I can advise.

Damn I must be seriously ****ed up then, I have asthma and various other respiratory allergies but breathe almost exclusively through my right nostril. (when I have the luxury of even using my nose that is)
..shouldn't I be diabetic instead?

And how on earth do I manage to live through the day without left nostril breathing?
Must be doing a "specific job requiring the other nostril" however vague that is.

Stay far away from that patch.

For many people it makes the camera spin endlessly, any list u see automagically scrolls to the bottom, direct input doesn't work and the game thinks u use a Xbox controller so it changes all icons to xbox crap.
In short, the game is completely unplayable now and I'll have to wait for a next patch which hopefully fixes this shit.

I'm one of the affected together with many more(might be steam only problems...dunno yet)

Bought GTA IV over steam this week and I'm happy about the game itself, not so pleased with the technical side of it.

Started out with the install throwing multiple erros while installing .net 3.0. Fixed that by downloading .net 3.0 myself, then installing the patch rockstar mentions..but the game still refused to launch (got the intro screen and then a nice black screen)
Turned out i needed to a .NET 3.0 patch from windows update (no NOT the one rockstar talks about, and yes i had SP3 long before GTA needed it)

Then having to endure the horrendous registring procedure almost made me demand a refund (social club being down constantly, live refusing to accept my yahoo email, having to make a X-box live account in the first place..for a PC! game)

Now the only annoying bug I have is the game locking up after a while.
ctrl-alt-del is the only way out...but ending the "GTA IV" process simply disables my monitor signal and then after lot of HDD-crunching shuts down the whole pc.
Totally unacceptable and I suspect it's either due to stupid copy protection or a piece of console code still being in there.
Can't alt-tab either without getting a black screen on returning to the game.


Performance wise i can't complain at all. ([email protected]; 4gb RAM; 8800GTS 640mb)
running at 1600x1200, medium textures (can't select lower or higher), higest rendering qual
61 viewdistance
100 detaildistance
100 cardensity (gives a more lively and metropolitan feel imo)
and 16 shadow density
Don't know the exact FPS but it plays fine, with only the rare slowdown if it's raining hard while I have tons of cops or other badguys on my tail

Don't worry, 70° is perfectly normal for a 48XX series card. In many reviews they go up to 80-90° under load without any overclocking.
So if u can keep it near 90° in summer u should be fine.

Is there a specific reason why u want a 20" LCD?
Because I would certainly spend 600-800$ on a monitor(24-26" IPS or PVA panel) and use the remaining 1200-1400$ to build a more then adequate computer.

If u spend alot on the pc hardware or not it will be outdated in 2-3years, while a good monitor will last u over double that long and provide more enjoyment at the same time.
Basically it's never worth the insane rise in costs to get the latest in Pc-land, compared to the extra performance and lifespan u will get out of it.

Try TVU-player, wheels channel is starting the broadcast in 6 minutes.
Havent found a working ITV-stream for this race yet, all the usual ones just stay black.

Bit disappointed with the password retrieval, requested it just under two hours ago and still no joy. Hope the mail arrives soon so I can finish the order. :Kick_Can_

Yea most likely would be the card if a better PSU doesn't help...but there's no guarantee it is.

I think u will find satisfaction in watching soap series on tv. Not only do u get new drama every day, but they also have lovely boards where u can argue about all kind of irrelevant things.

Try and test with a stronger PSU if u can (from a friend/neighbour?)...11.6 is rather low and often an indication that your PSU can't push enough ampère's through the 12v line to your GPU.
That would be my n°1 guess.

Fe. of all the PSU's i had none ever went under 11.8V, current one runs at 12.2
and the one at 11.8 gave stability issues when i upgraded to a more powerhungry GPU (GF6600 > X1800XTX)
