I'm encountering in past few weeks problems with lfs websites (also both lfsworld.net and lfsmanual.net) - the websites load very slowly, sometimes not at all, same with attachments - pictures need minutes to load, sometimes not loading at all. Sporadically the website runs ok,but that usually is a shortlived effect - few minutes, not more. That happens however only from my home network - been using phone's hotspot for internet access when posting stuff here as with that connection website loads flawlessly. Same other way round - using phone's browser over home network, website loads very slowly, however no problems over 4G connection.
Was wondering if something wrong with my router settings or provider, now tested with some random free proxy IP in Firefox settings and guess what - works as fast as it should (using home network),so that should be proof there is nothing wrong with router or provider.
I attached simple ping results when using home network.
Other facts - I have absolutelly no connection issues with LFS ingame servers,as connection is fast, stable and mods list loads as fast as it always had.
However in last few weeks I've been encountering also problems with Discord (which as we know is also hosted by same provider) - text is loaded ok,but any directly attached pictures/gifs/videos load slowly or not at all, then suddenly by next opening of specific channel they're loaded fine.
Could wonder long what has gone wrong there, but before complaining to anyone,I need info how to find what causes the problems - what tests I can perform to find that?
The 5th edition of the yearly Westhill endurance race had 2 increasements - the distance was increased to 400 kilometers for the 2nd time and the grid featured the biggest number of cars on it. From 27 signups 2 were never completed,1 withdrew,2 never arrived, but all remaining 22 qualified and also started the 22 laps race. There were entered 3 each 3-driver teams and 2-driver teams, however once again most entries were solo drivers, but from 16 of those only 9 actually completed full race distance. 11 different cars were entered, most popular for 2nd year in row was Piranmoto Firefly with 6 entries (twice as much as last year),followed by LFS's own RB4 with 4 entries, however 7 entries were running unique cars.
For the 3rd year in row the top running car is RB4,for the 2nd year in row it was driven by Born 2 Race team driver, however the driver itself was different this year - it's the lithuanian known using a single letter M for his name. He was the fastest in qualifying by over 1 second and led 19 of the 22 laps on his way to convincing race win, beating his own set lap record by 3.4 seconds during the race. M finished the race with over 1 minute big advantage and that despite drifting few turns during last lap as he was encouraged to do so by fans. This is a huge improvement compared to his only previous attendance of this event last year where he qualified 6th and completed just 5 of 22 laps to be scored 14th,which is last position between starters.
Another 2nd in row is 2nd place finishing team - YES motorsport repeated the performance of last year, but this time running FXO instead of other FWD car and having 3 different drivers to drive it. The team had deffinitelly a lot of experience and success in luggage - Trespasser was part of winning team in inaugural edition,Gábor was part of winning team in 2022 edition and their 3rd driver Lagooga was in runner up team last year. They led 3 laps due different pitstop strategy, but eventually had to concede and settle for 2nd place finish. During 4 previous runnings podium always featured 3 different cars (also in 2020,where only 3 cars were available),this year this tradition was broken - officially by 3rd place finisher Twin, who put 2nd RB4 on the podium. The defending winner just like last year run same car and did it alone, but this year got outrun by stronger competition as he finished 2 minutes 40 behind race winner.
For the first time in event's history the race was broadcasted live by SimBroadcasts.tv crew, giving the chance everyone outside event to see the action live with all the makes and breaks of the race. They put together a lot of effort setting up probably record amount of cameras for the 18km track and their commentating trio were around all 4 hours of race duration plus race recap. For those missing the livestream, here is the chance to rewatch the race on Youtube:
From 31 participating drivers,12 already had previous experience in this annual event - 4 of those in 3 or more runnings, however only 1 driver is now left being running on each edition as the other one was travelling at this time. With 3 previous winners this of course was the biggest gathering of those compared to previous editions, let's hope for at least 4 of them next year! Track extension coupled with longer mandatory pitstop length led to lower average speed compared to last year - winner's average speed was 100.04km/h,which is 3 less than last year.
Regarding future plans - there is one concept of possible extension of the track, extending it by estimated 1km,but that still has to be tested. Of course the 2 faster cars will have it's power cut once again to reduce their supremacy, motivating entrants to select more different cars, adjusting their balancing if needed - all of that will be started as always around january with 1st preperations of the 6th annual edition. Then we will check the situation of racing community to decide if it's ready for distance extention to 500km (another step towards wished 1000km),stay with 400km or go back to basics.
Race Green Events thanks all drivers for participation and guys behind the scenes for their input and efforts, especially J.Palmer from NDR for his administration and timing tools and Jam for his Carlimiter application. As always everyone is welcome to share their experience from the event, either in form of text, pictures or videos! Also (even if that rarely happens) - we're awaiting winner's speach!
Checked the car (influenced from LFS discord messages) and for me fell 3 things in my eyes that did not seem correct:
1) Slick tyres seem quite unapropriate for such vehicle, not sure if these should be available. Even without testing, from experience with LFS I expect car with such high COG roll easily with grip from slick tyres.
2) LFS cars' default drag is deffinitelly way too low - this car is huge compared to for example XRT,so is it's wind resistance, the theoretical max speed in downforce tab shows 275km/h which is very unrealistic. Since the actual car is limited to 100mph,it was difficult to find out actual possible top speed of this car,the only figure I found is estimation of 210km/h. I would suggest to raise car's drag until theoretical max speed is around 220km/h - with roll resistance of tyres it might get close to the estimated value.
3) Engine brake reduction - why would this car need such feature found in F1 and other high tier motorsports? Does not seem correct to me.
Otherwise (even if I'm not fan of such cars) I have to say it looks like a quality model.
The mentioned driver Atte was monitored in replay during first several laps and his actions and controls show rather low care about drivers around with lack of effort to avoid any contacts.
* PENALTIES :
Atte - receives warning for multiple avoidable contacts during several first laps. Repeated such behaviour will lead to actual penalty or disqualification.

Result of this race is what happens if one driver with his mindset tests and schedules a specific combo which then later is raced by drivers with different mindset - in search for each milisecond they were ready to risk and jump over the improvised curbs of chicanes, leading to rather unpredictible results. The "celebration" of race of threes turned into a survival race, where from 32 starters only 17 crossed the finish line, from which only 12 without rejoining it. Still a total of 22 drivers are classified in results as all of them finished at least 50% of race distance. When looking at stats, the number 3 figured well there - race was finished after 33 minutes (and 2/3 of a second),there was a driver who finished 33 seconds after the race winner and special mention goes to Dario, who qualified 33rd.
The event started with Gábor winning the qualifying, setting laptime just 3 hundreds over 59 minutes mark, scoring his 3rd pole position of the season,26th overall, but he run out of luck with his risky driving style and rolled the car before completing 1/3 of the race. Winner of the race is someone who scored his 3rd top5 finish in row - after missing chances to win in several races, the only 3-time winner of this season M returned to the victory lane after leading all 33 race laps, scoring his 6th RTFR race win, setting his 7th fastest lap of the race, totalling his top5 finishes to 22. R.Kardol did not have a good qualifying as he was just 7th fastest, but climbed through the field to finish 2nd (for the 3rd time this season),also scoring his 3rd top5 finish in row,93rd overall. The true man of 3 yesterday was driver with a 3 in his name - 136 qualified 3rd and finished 3rd - while qualifying result was just a repeat of previous best, his finishing position was 3 positions better than previous best. The only 3 Thehemuli managed was best laptime of one minute and 3 hundreds as the finn finished 4th in this race, but his top5 total is now 3 times 3. The top5 was closed by Arska, who made a gain of 3 positions during this race, his top5 total is now one short of 30.
VOD at Youtube:
The race of 3 is over, but we can still have some overlook over the races in next 3 weeks - next week RandomCar returns with it's round 5 of the season, which will be raced in Fern Bay,making the series 3rd stop in this environment. In 2 weeks RTFR will return with one of the rather fast cars running in Kyoto - which and where as always will be posted in the weekend before the race. The combo for next RTFR XL scheduled on tuesday in 3 weeks is also now known - the well known Formula XR will be run in Aston's 3rd configuration in reversed direction, which will feature a fourty 3 laps race. 3.
Not really weird choice as with it's performance level, the car is pretty much an FWD XRG with road super tyres, and LFS GTI class cars are quite popular for racing.
These have been another productive 4 weeks as we have a total of 4 new cars in the list, while one having it's balancing adjusted, here are the updates in alphabetical order:
The first in list is DORITO FD7 SR,which is a sister car to base model and is featuring different aero kits. The classic FR layout car has been set to use 22% air restrictor.
Just yesterday FZ70 4GTS made it's first and most likelly last appearance in our annual endurance race, now it's time to add the recently approved car also in RandomCar lineup - it will be the first car with the engine/transmission layout of RA (rear engine/all wheel drive). The car was in voting few times, but always lost out to other cars, now it's added by default due approved status and will start it's journey with 41% restrictor.
Soon after addition of the original, also the tuned version joins RC thanks to approval of community - GT-V34 MINE9 might look similar to it's original, however it's 100kg lighter, has wider tyres and more aerodynamic help. By default this car is so fast it will be restricted with max possible 50% air restrictor and carry additional 10kg ballast to keep it with PL200 class pace.
IMPREZZIVE B2 has been struggling latelly with it's top end speed, therefor it was decided to help it by reducing air restriction by 1% - from now on it will use 21%.
Last in the list is car which was expected to be approved quickly as it's made with a lot of attention to details - POSCHER CAYNAM 718 is the 6th MR (mid-engined/rear wheels driven) car in RandomCar and the restriction is set to 17% for it.
When other cars have been added, some dissapear from the list - unfortunatelly due some weird behaviour of several modders, also one of RandomCar's vehicles were deleted. COQUETTE Z5 was the 1st car voted in the RandomCar between the 1st test race and 1st official scored championship round. The car is the 2nd retired car in RC,first which was still competitive as it was known for it's outright straight line speed. Best results of COQUETTE Z5 were achieved by B2マ 136,who qualified 3rd and finished 4th in this season's 3rd round at Blackwood, while it was scored in rather low 21st position in last season's manufacturer's championship, however this year it's currently holding 4th position in it with destiny to slip down.

* PENALTIES :
SGマ MadJester - receives 10 seconds penalty added to his finish time for pit exit line violation.

FXO V8Supercar is the very first mod car that was used more than once in RTFR XL - however just like on first try,the race was not highly attended as the over 600 horsepower car is quite a challenge which many did not wanted to take. Tyres turned out to be object of strategy - even if everyone selected R4 rears, the field was mixxed about front tyre selection as some (and mostly front runners) opted for grippier but temperature troubled R3 while some went for more consistent R4.
Records are made to be broken - current longest ever winning streak of 4 wins in RTFR XL was done by L.Paddewwa in 3rd to 6th RTFR XL,this tuesday this record was tied by M who has a chance of breaking it 4 weeks later. The lithuanian led all 22 race laps, with that scoring also his 200th lead lap in RTFR XL (now 6th most all time),leading also the last one to score his 6th RTFR XL race win, tying True Alpha for 4th most. He scored also his 8th pole position (now sole 4th most),5th fastest lap of the race and 10th top5 finish. Previous winner of this car and also combo selector R.Kardol was just 2nd this time and that in both sessions, repeating his best result of this season, scoring his 49th top5 finish. True Alpha was 2nd in race temporary after climbing up the field due his usual low qualifying result, but lost it due longer pitstop, finishing 3rd at the end - that's his 17th top5 finish. Sean scored his best result in RTFR XL by finishing 4th,which is 1 position higher than his only other top5 finish,top5 was closed by Ayoub Maroc, who scored his 8th top5 finish.
* FUN FACT OF THE MONTH :
...is not really fun at all from organization side - due to pretty much absolute lack of pre-event testing, this race had 1 lap shorter distance than it should had - distance is always calculated using best known laptime, however that was beaten during qualifying by full 4 seconds and improved even more in race. This led to shortest ever RTFR XL in terms of race time - with 75 minutes and 19 seconds the previous record was beaten by almost 40 seconds. If this lack of testing persists,we'll have to use qualifying time for distance calculation starting from next year (for non-standard combos only).
* CLOCK PITTER OF THE RACE :
Only 1 driver finished this race without any pitwork, therefor Rony is clock pitter for the 2nd race in row. 10.12 seconds work free pitstop did not bring much effort though as he finished 12th due rejoin (wrong setup on start). One of other usual clock pitters attempted to do same and would succeed only if he would not had underestimated tyre wear...
* FIELD RUSHER OF THE RACE :
+9 positions was the highest gain during the race, made by Michal "E-Challenger" Malek, who finished 8th starting from low 17th position,2nd best result was +5,achieved by 3 drivers.
VOD at Youtube:
Combo selection has been relayed to 3rd place finisher this time - M may not select as long as he has his winning streak alive and R.Kardol has selected twice this year, reaching the yearly limit, but True Alpha still has not replied about his choice,he has time until coming tuesday. Next week normal RTFR will celebrate it's 333rd edition - expect some more number threes in this race of threes, run with one of the road legal cars from past featuring 3 in it's name and using a triangle shaped engine components. But the most important nearest future info - this sunday we'll host our yearly endurance race 400km of Westhill for the 5th time! A total of 31 cars are up for selection as weapon of choice for the 18.34 kilometers track. Full info and link to signups in the INFO THREAD - don't miss out to take on our biggest challenge, this year livestreamed by SimBroadcasts.tv!
Car applications period has ended and the CarLimiter app is running in server from now - that means you can join only with cars on event's list and with correct restrictor!
Car added to list,no restrictor required - car is estimated 0.2min off pace (may be individual to driving skill),which is not enough to give it challenger status.
As promotion for electric powered cars FXO ELECTRIC was added as challenger car - it's pace with full pace is on par with PL200W class, however it's range is quite low. Unfortunatelly LFS does not support regeneration for AWD cars yet and LFS mods list does not feature a well made competitive 2WD car.
