what is this all about? why do you guys start flaming on a person who did a lot for the LFS community and is a friendly gentle person? i don't get it.

hmmm i am not quite sure about this because suspension does not cope that much with sideways-movement. so if you poke a car from the side, the only thing that can move that much are the tires. but i really don't know how much and if it is apropriate in lfs.

i don't think the suspensions job is to deal with sideway movement of a car. it probably is fixed in that direction

i think in that case you need that technique, or as mentioned as above the lfs-tv thingy allthough those without a licence won't see it i think.

i don't think there will be any news on this project. soeren was last time online racing with lfs october 6th 2006. i wrote several emails and PMs to him, but did not get an answer so far


looks like the great tool is dead. the alternative noobTV will not have an action-detection in it so, i think the only possibility is if someone makes this tool from scratch...

... this video is cool but looked like a fake race to demonstrate. the subtitles didn't work on my machine...

gamer-fm does this a lot of times. MoE for example. you need a tv-capturing card and a second computer to stream the stuff. i think if you ask gamer-fm or look in the forum there you get the information you need...

it's pretty easy what i have done: open the .exe file with a hex-editor. search or the term BL1 and replace that one to the track you like. (e.g. KY1, FB1). then save it. i don't think thats anything special. then connect and use as usual. you will see the action detection is working on the programs window but in lfs you see the cameras are most of the time completely off the track because they are set for BL1. (although on BL2 you get most of the action as well)

after the BL1 term in the program there might be the camera positions and stuff, but i did not figure out how to change that. i mean i would be happy to have just the standard cams. the interesting part of this program is the action-detection so you can lean back and watch a race without having to switch the cams by yourself.

i hacked this program so it works on other tracks too, BUT i could not hack the camera positions, so the cams are off the track most of the times...

soeren are you still working on this or is it possible for you to release the source to the community?

when you look at fuel consumption, the fzr uses 1/3 more fuel when flat out (oval: fzr 1,2 -1,3 xrr 0,9-1.0) which is the disadvantage of the fzr on longer races. but as most of the lfs races are withouth pitstrategy at all, the fzr would win in most of the cases.

but if you have longer races with the need of pitstops, it can be handy to drive the xrr which might do pit in one time less then fzr...

i don't think a leveling is needed OR that serverside max-fuel option would be handy to level it out on shorter races.

to level out even the fxr with the others you probably need much more HP in that car. allthough the fxr has other advantages, not top speed but with handling AND damage. this sucker is massive as a tank...

akkording to my experience with different wind on long races on the oval i can say, the direction and the speed of the wind changes over time. one time you have wind from behind on the backstraight and sometimes wie didn't have wind at all....

i think it changes and it influences e.g. an oval race a lot

120° degree, cockpit view. but i have a 15,4" 16:10 wide-screen monitor with 1280x800 resolution. i see both mirrors

just because a good magazine needs good layout and typography. which is much easier in a layout program then in html. same with typography. you have only web-standard fonts (if you are not going the flashy way).

so any magazine which is going to be a "magazine" should be printable which is only possible in reasonable quality with PDF.

everything else is just another news/blog webpage.

try to get your hand on a ms sidewinder force feedback wheel if possible. they may be cheaper then a momo or dfp but is a real long life product!

don't get a cheaper one and safe your money until you can afford a momo, a dfp or a ms SWff.

one of the most important things when having a track like this besides the length, is the difference in heights. blackwood track is flat (i would compare it more to hockenheim then to nürburgring) westhill has already up and down parts, so why not adding there the westhill historic )

why not having two champions like beeing "regular season champion" and "chase champion" if both are the same makes a "superchamp". allthough when i think more about that, i find it useless...

the chase is really something what is kind of "unfair" for a driver who dominates 2/3 of the year.

it might get more interest for the last 10 races then, but its also kind of decrease the weight of the first 2/3. it's like with nba finals. they are much higher in popularity. those who are into basketball will watch every match of their game. the broad mass sticks to the finals...

ah... i wish i could have nascar races here in europe TV. isn't there any internet-TV broadcasting races?

i think bumpdrafting will stop when actual damage model effects aero. so a bent wing won't produce downforce. so nobody will ruin his frontwing with bumpdrafting.
