I get the same thing on one of my servers from time to time. Doesn't seem to affect it though.

A very enjoyable thread this. A real eye opener.

You need them to get closer as you go up the gears. I think if you were to set the gears like that 1st and 2nd would be too close to be useful and the gap between top gear and the next one down would be too big to maintain decent acceleration.

Thanks for all the posts and PMs guys. It seems I have some really top teams to choose from.

What I'm going to do now is list every team that has sent me an offer. I will then try and list all the drivers in each team and see who I know and who I don't. From this I expect a few teams to appear on my shortlist.

I will then check out the shortlist teams websites and skins and all that stuff and make my decision.

Thanks again for all the kind offers - very flattering

Following the closure of R4R I am now without a team. If anyone feels they could use me please post here. Had a couple of offers already but I want to sit back and see what happens for a bit.

Cheers lads.

Quote from anttt69 :where can I find the championship standings for the GTTC? I had a look on the website, just results at the mo.

Still no results or standings on the GTTC page ??

They are here.

With regards to the other posts:

There will always be a range of standards in these open league events with no minimum qualifying requirement. The Gentlefoot Challenge events are inclusive meaning anyone can apply to join. It will stay that way.

If people display a poor level of driving or your race is affected by someone's poor judgement then the judicial system ensures that the offending drivers revieve penalties. Everyone then learns from the mistakes made. This results in the driving standards improving during the season.

However, I only received one request for judicial review from the last GTTC race. This would indicate that there was only one person who witnessed any poor driving yet some of the comments would suggest there was a lot more than one incident. If drivers are not reported then the standard will not improve as quickly.

With the FOX I found it was quite a bit slower - think it has less power, certainly less revs and a narrower power band. That's what it feels like to me.

I ended up reducing downforce slightly to compensate for this. Also the gear ratios needed changing too.

Think all cars peak power limits have been reduced in a similar way. Gear ratios will need changing. Maybe slightly closer gears or lower final drive.

The tyres are very different. In the FOX now the R1s are only good for a few laps with max pressure. I think this is what is costing the most time as you have to use R2s for anything more than a short sprint race.

The camber angles need amending too. In this thread I explain how I set up cars and in it is a useful way of finding the correct camber angles.

http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=33099

If you've got less grip you are going to need a bit less diff lock too. This is another thing I have been adjusting since patch X.

Brakes too ofcourse. A bit less overall force maybe.

Suspension settings should be pretty much the same between X and Y with non-downforce cars I reckon. Minor adjustments might be needed to maintain a nice balance.

Have fun - making setups is a great skill to learn.

Not sure what its down to. I run max pressure most of the time with the FOX.

Don't think it's just a speedo reading thing because I'm prestty sure its reflected in the split time too. And yes - I'm getting fastest split times on cold tyres. This is split 1 at AS4 I'm talking about though which is a high speed sector.

Interesting

If anyone has not yet registered in the forum please do so ASAP in readiness for Sunday. You will need to access a members only section for the server passwords.

OK all, we've got a big grid for Sunday's race now. It's new to everyone being the first ever GTTC race. It's going to be hectic out there so we all need to know what we are doing.

Please be sure to read the rules carefully. Everyone is expected to know the rules and heavy punishment will be dished out if a driver demonstrates either a disregard for, or a lack of knowledge of the rules.

Quote from Leprekaun :Differential

However, something that puzzles me is that if the differential is loose, meaning that the inside wheel will spin at a higher speed than the outside wheel, why does the car understeer, I mean, isn't there less grip at the back if one wheel is losing traction and all the strain is being thrown onto one wheel? and vice versa with a locked differential.

The simple reason is this. The outside rear wheel is the one with all the load. Therefore it is this wheel that is providing all your rear end grip. If the diff is open then the inside wheel is allowed to spin. This means the outside wheel will not spin so it maintains grip. This will create more understeer than the opposite situation as I will now explain.

If the diff is locked then as you apply more power the inside wheel is now unable to spin. Eventually, the power will exceed the grip of the outside rear tyre too and then this wheel will start to spin up. This will result in sudden oversteer as the wheel that was providing all the grip is now spinning and not gripping.

Hope this is clear.

I've also noticed a similar affect relating to tyre temps on some low powered cars. For example, in the FOX I am finding that on cold tyres I have a top speed 1 - 1.5 mph higher compared with when the tyres are warmed up. I can only assume this is caused by the increased mechanical grip the warm tyres give you.

I would like to run for the position of nation's manager: No

Skills:

FOX specialist but also experience with FO8 and MRT. Also use TBOs and LXs quite a bit. Reasonable close to WR pace in FOX - usually about a second off.

Pretty consistent over long runs with lots of league experience. Good setup skills.

Check your clutch settings. What car is it?

It may be that it is stalling because the clutch isn't coming in. Can you hear the engine idling?

Might be of help.

Always try to unwind the lock as soon as possible at corner exit. As you apply throttle you need to be unwinding the lock.

Good luck.

Please be aware that these setups were produced using patch X. To use them with Patch Y you will need to rename them to FOX_.. instead of FORMULA_XR_...

I am currently working on the modification of these sets for patch Y and I will update these setups in the coming weeks.

Thanks for your patience.

Quote from orange_boy_uk : Plus that new 1.2 bmw F1 car is rubbish. I mean why do we need more F1 cars and why for demo's.

We've got more F1 cars? Cool! Which one - Ferrari, Mclaren? Can't believe I didn't notice that in the car selection screen!

Oh - hang on a sec - 1.2 bmw F1 - you're not confusing the little Formula BMW with an F1 car are you?
