Yes, if you make a pass down the inside and you are level before the apex then you still need to stay tight to the apex. If you drift wide and collect the car on your outside then I would say you would be largely to blame for the resulting off if there is one.
This ruling was made recently in the GFC. It highlights this point perfectly:
In January 2008 season 2 of the Gentlefoot Formula Challenge and season 1 of the Gentlefoot Tin Top Challenge will start. For these seasons and possibly these seasons only the winners of each class will win a genuine engraved trophy.
The GFC trys to develop one philosophy between drivers by way of the rules and judicial system but all drivers are different.
I like to think that in the Gentlefoot Challenge events we drive fairly but aggressively and if anyone oversteps the mark they lose points. Seems to work well.
I would love to race with fellow MSA licence holders!
Although it does seem very limiting if you say its just real life racers. I have an MSA licence and I also know that there are only 32,000 of us in the UK.
I'd like to race you in a FOX sometime though Intrepid Did you check out the GFC?
Great advice,. Make sure you keep the original set so you can go back and compare again once you've made a string of 8 changes.
Also make sure you know the track properly before making changes to the set. If you're still finding seconds a lap, a set aint gonna make any difference.
Thing is driving on public roads is so different from driving on a track anyway. You check your tyre pressures, take your road car (or even modified road/track car) around a few country roads, maybe a fast stretch somewhere and it feels awesome - grippy, responsive, dare I say 'flickable'. Take it to Brands, Cadwell, Oulton or Donnington Park and the first thing you say after your first stint is "Where did all the grip go?".
Ofcourse I'm exploring the handling of my car on public roads but only in situations where I can see well ahead (golden rule - "always stop in the distance you can see") and where the risk is reduced because the population is sparce. Biggest risk round my way is meeting some bird coming the other way on a horse. Sometimes with a cart attached!
It's because I've been specialising in FOX lately and these are the only ones I'm 100% sure about. I'll be competing in the LX4 soon and also one of the TBOs - probably the XRT. We'll see how I go. If I can't get close to WR pace then it will remain just FOX sets lol.
Which set? It's amazing that it's good on lots of tracks because they are very track focused. Sometimes a set good on one track can feel terrible on another. Anyway - thanks for the thumbs up
Check out the Double Vision event on 16th December. LX race around Fern Bay Black (R). Two drivers per team one in each car - LX4 and LX6. There will be RallyX too but it's optional. You can race alone if you wish too.
