Quote from scania :Vet & Bou

Bou? Thierry Boutsen retired years ago!

Oh, you must mean that Bourdais guy who despite winning two champ car titles (think it was two) he has proved that he doesn't have the where-with-all to compete in F1.

Quote from SamH :FIA is listening to the team radio. It doesn't prevent code words or phrases, but that's the prescribed method of ensuring team orders don't get passed to the track.

And monitoring radio transmissions does not tell the FIA anything about the conversations that have gone on in the team before the race either.

Values in a set may look strange but it doesn't mean much because there are so many variables affecting the balance of a car.

At the end of the day a strange set would be one that has massive oversteer or understeer or behaves badly in transition. You can't tell anything much by looking at the numbers (unless your brain works the same way as the LFS physics engine).

Team orders are banned but if a driver decides for himself to give a place up then that is allowed. It's as simple as that. Although how the stewards ever expect to know if it was a driver or a team decision I don't know.

At this present moment I would choose Alonso who is the most complete driver in F1. However, Hamilton has the potential to be even greater in the years to come.

Vettel is obviously a rising star too.

I think the following team line ups would make for the greatest F1 season ever.

Ferrari - Kimi & Alonso
Mclaren - Hamilton & Vettel
BMW - Kubica & Sutil
Renault - Glock & Massa

Quote from The Moose :Is this now going to be an all FOX race?

Probably. I would if there are less than 5 FO8s I would try and persuade those guys to switch to FOX. Just have to see how many sign up.

This is a message I got though LFS World from PLZ-dado.

I was hoping some Italian speakers could translate for me.

"Scusami testa di caxxo, io nn mi sono accorto del messaggio e nn ho potuto ripondere, ma sappi che ti piglerei a calci in culo fino a singapore x la caxxata che hai fatto"

The title was "fottiti bastardo"

I got part way through translating it

I'm intrigued even if the title is somewhat unoriginal.

Quote from Smokey_4643 :Hi guys,

my issue is probably a simple one, but i cant work it out.

Im currently hosting a demo server using Dedi, i however am unable to connect to my own server from another machine within the network, i am unsure why.

Any 1 have any idea why?

Try disabling the firewall. Or it may be port forwarding that you need to look at.

All I want is any prototype. Mazda 787B, Audi R8, LOLA EX257, Dome Judd S102, Peugeot 908.

Anything like that would have me back on LFS and addicted again I'm sure.

I once worked as a support engineer on a mainframe system that had approximately 8 million lines of code. It took 12 of us to support it and there were another 8 developers. It was written using a database known as Adabas in a language called Natural. All command driven. Any scripts we ran against the system had to be run by the operations department made up of another 8 support people.

Crazy really when you think about it. Mind you, this particular company who shall remain nameless, had such a plethora of systems and languages that there were 250 of us in total in the IT department.

I'm getting sick of the way the FIA and race stewards between them are permanently ruining F1. No longer are the drivers unable to pass because of the nature of the cars, now it's the nature of the stewards and FIA.

If the race controllers don't stop punishing drivers for every little thing then soon no driver will ever risk trying a pass on anyone.

Personally I think that neither Lewis, Massa or Bourdais should have recieved a penalty. OK, Massa maybe shouldn't have punted Lewis around like that but still I think the sport would be better in the long run if that kind of incident was just put down to racing. Lewis didn't have to shut the door at that moment and Massa didn't have to rejoin at the second apex.

Let the blokes race for God's sake otherwise you are going to ruin the sport completely you numpties!

I dunno I agree that Quake is mundane and just about controlling weapon spawn points. I find my Quake skills are always improving when I play even after all these years. I am now fairly accurate when I am not moving and I am beginning to become more accurate while moving too.

These are key skills and some people in the areans just have amazing accuracy.

My ability to hit fast moving targets with the rocket launcher is improving too as I begin to learn to give some lead.

My movement skills during a battle are also improving. I am now beginning to become more aware of my position in relation to walls which is important.

So in summary I think a game that allows you to improve key skills like:

Stationary Accuracy
Accuracy on the Move
Attacking/Defensive Movement
Spacial Awareness

should not ever be described as simplistic or mundane.

Anyone done any practice? I managed a low 35 which puts me 2nd in the tracker at the moment.

Quake 3 Arena Is Still Great!

No other Quake threads then.

Wanted to post this cos I've been getting back into Quake 3 Arena again just lately. Can't believe I'm still playing it. I was first introduced to the game on the Dreamcast and I think that shows how old it is. Todays hardware plays it at full res with triple antialiasing etc no worries so it's kinda got better.

It's still a blinder and has all the competitive spirit of a racing simulator like LFS. There are aliens in Quake just as in LFS. I still feel like a beginner but I love it. Got me thinking if any of you boys frequent the arenas?

Would love to battle my old LFS mates in Quake.

Looks like it might turn out to be a single class FOX race. Still, nothing wrong with that. All the old rivalries re-ignited it should make for some good fun.

Be good to see some new faces too. Must be some new talented rookies out there it's been so long since the last race.

Too much caster can result in more speed scrubbing off in fast long radius corners.
