Sorry to hear that mate. Would have enjoyed racing you again.
I have decided to offer prizes for the GFC and GTTC season winners. The winners of the GTR and TBO classes in the GTTC and the FOX and FO8 classes in the GFC will now win a genuine, quality trophy!
The trophy will be motorsport oriented with a plaque and personalised engraving.
The next season of the GFC and GTTC is due to start on Sunday 6th January. Get your entry in now to be in with a chance of winning these excellent prizes.
Not sure whether that's good or bad but... thanks??
I've added a few more setups recently. I plan to do some competitive racing in the LXs and also some Rallyx in the XFG or XRG soon and will add any more setups I'm 100% happy with.
There are some new events which I am now accepting entries for. If you are interested in racing in the GTTC in either TBO or GTR then please visit this page:
I have now set the dates and venues for the two upcoming GTTC seasons. Go to this page for the calendar and start times. You can also enter the event from this page.
How can you say it doesn't begin to address the topic at hand? It precicely addresses it! The discussion was about how people in the LFS community percieve how racing in LFS should be like and comparisons with real life racing. My post asked the original poster to look at my rules (which I developed based on my perceptions of what I think LFS racing should be like) and provide feedback to see whether he feels it matches real life racing or not. How you can say that doesn't address the topic at hand I don't know.
How exactly has your last two posts addresses the topic at hand prey tell?
Actually - don't. Because we are now hijacking this thread and turning it into an argument about whether I should have posted and we are not actually discussing the original posters genuine topic at all. I try and avoid getting involved in these pointless arguments with people like you so I won't post any more responses to your pointless, small minded comments.
It's not like my point is completely irrelevant to this thread. Obviously I will draw on my frames of reference when discussing issues relating to LFS and the GFC is part of that frame of reference.
I'm making a genuine point. Intrepid is expressing a concern that the racing in LFS in moulded by the community. Well I am one of those characters that he speaks of doing the moulding. I would like him to feedback to me what he thinks of the rules I have created. Maybe I will gain something from his knowledge and experience.
Before criticising other people posting genuine comments in a thread maybe you should think about what value you are adding to a debate by making posts like the last two. None at all as far as I can see.
I would like to think the racing in the GFC is very close to real life in terms of rules. Have a look at the rules I created for this series and feedback to me what you think in terms of how they compare to real life racing. I would like to think they are very close.
The GFC also has a proper judicial system that enforces the rules. If people break the rules they are penalised.
It's resulted in the cleanest LFS racing I've ever been involved in at least.
Information regarding the competition can be found here:
I will consider adding LXs into the mix. If you would like to compete in the GTTC in an LX please register and let me know and I will add you to the list.
I guess the LX4 and LX6 would need to be in there own classes as I don't think either of their lap times are comparable with either TBO or GTR but I will check the stats on LFS World.
If I get enough sign ups I will introduce LXs also. At some point we will need to hold a test event as proof of concept to make sure these cars can run on track together with no problems. We did this prior to season 1 of the GFC and it was great fun apart from anything else. We held it at Fern Bay Club so there was a lot of lapping of slower cars. This would probably be the order of the day for this test too.
EDIT: Just looked at the WRs for LXs, TBOs and GTRs. The LX4 has very similar lap times to the TBOs so could compete in the same class. It's faster on the tight twisty tracks but slower on the big fast circuits. The LX6 though is faster than the TBOs and slower than the GTRs by quite a margin. The only way we could include LX6s is if they run in their own class.
Great stuff! I now have set up an entry list in the forum so those that register can be added to it. This will guage the level of interest in this competition. If the numbers are big enough the original plan of GTR and TBO dual class will goi ahead.
If there is anything less than about 40 signups I will consider adding an additional class to the GFC subject to a successful test event.
Also, some people have expressed an interest in running in the LXs. I don't see a problem with this although I guess they would need there own class. If you would like to run in an LX please register and let me know so I can consider this as an option.
I had a MOMO for the first year but then had the well documented peddle problems. I replaced it with a G25. The feedback is more refined, it feels more solid and ofcourse you have the H-Shifter and a clutch. It's done plenty of mileage and there are no signs of wear as yet. The only issue I have with the G25 is the lack of buttons actually on the wheel itself. Only 2 - I use for look left and right. The MOMO had 6 buttons on the wheel so I had my pitlane speed limiter on there, light flash and horn.
I mainly drive the FOX so I don't use the H-Shifter that often. This means I use the keyboard for the other options which is a shame.
It's true - it varies. Some of the most popular servers have the worst drivers although usually the standard in the CTRA servers is pretty good.
My GFC server is always populated by very clean friendly racers but often it lies empty. However, if you connect there is a good chance someone will join you. We all don't mind sharing setups and are all very friendly because most of us compete in the GFC - see www.gentlefoot.com for more info.
Try all the cars and then choose one to specialise in. That way you will get to know when you have a good set or a bad one. The FOX is a great beginners car. Very easy to drive with a good set. There are plenty of sets for it in the downloads section of my website.
Yes, you need strong rules and judicial. It works perfectly in the GFC with FO8s and FOXs.
Although I may now simply add the GTRs to the mix in the GFC. Don't think I will get the numbers to run both competitions and get decent numbers on the grid.
The average over the season has been about 25 for the GFC and obviously I would like the full compliment of 32 drivers.
