He knows only how to turn left. He used to drive a lot on BL in the FOX (long time ago). He just was nothing more than a wrecker. No matter what he says now about people bashing oval players and about how unjustified it all is.
Argh!
Drifting is a form of motorsports, it's not a form of racing.
Racing is about completing a number of laps or during a set period of time as fast as possible. Drifting misses this objective.
Seriously, you are twisting here. LFS is about racing (drifting is NOT racing), and the ability to drift in this sim is a side effect of the great physics simulation. So do whatever you like, but you drift on a drift server, you race on a race server. And it is not the responsibility of race server owners to indicate their server is racing only. Because in a racing simulator you can expect servers to be about racing.
There's more than enough drifting servers around, why do you insist on drifting on a race server?
You deal with that.
So?
It's not the fastest way to go around a track, unless it's a hillclimb or something. Then it can be used as a racing technique enabling you to lap faster. On a racetrack like the ones we have in LFS it is not, it's showing off. So then it has nothing to do with being a racing technique. No matter what you say, it just isn't.
LFS is a racing simulator, so by default servers can be expected to be a race server. Drift servers should indicate it's only drifting, not the other way around.
Erm...the right?
That's quite overdoing it if you ask me. It's not part of any consitution or anything.
As for the rest of your post, well I know you're new but they have all been discussed and the conclusion is that it's not that simple. Using real life tracks or cars involve licenses. An they don't come cheap.
As far as modding, it has his downsides and if LFS will ever be moddable it will not be before S3 as the sim is still in development.
Sorry but I have to disagree with you here. All it will do is create a snowball effect. In situations like this he could end up wanting to get back to you, and then you want to get back at him, and then he....you get the picture.
In ALL situations the best thing to do is to be the smart one.
There's a lot of ways to solve it, the best wa is to either be faster than him or just let him get away and resume your own race.
Try to fix up the dunlop logo though, it's a bit dodgy
I would also use the default skin file and set your painted layers to multiply, it gives more definition to the bodywork. Other than that, good job
A tool is as good as it's user. The stuff I see here is getting pretty good, if people continue to learn and improve it can probably get on par with renders from 3DS and the likes.
Oh, and to the topic starter: is it any coincidence you just signed up this username on this forum and immediately start this discussion?
Be a man and use your real account.
Scawen has explained this so many times. Because they simply don´t want to. To the devs LFS is not only a source of income, but also a labour of love. Therefore they want to do this their way, and their way only. They aren´t in a hurry, are you?
This is something that has been explained so many times that I wonder if people that are still asking this question really don´t know the answer, or are they just not capable of accepting it.
Besides, getting more people on a project doesn´t mean the project will be of better quality or developed faster.
For a more detailed and better motivated explanation search through Scawen´s posts. It SHOULD be clear as water.
Well, it´s not like the devs use GameMaker or something to make LFS... What software would they need? Eric for sure has a 3D modelling program and Photoshop and the likes.
All the tools they need to actually build the game they already have plus for sure Scawen has made development tools himself.
So no, more money isn´t going to help make LFS better or developed faster. Although they do deserve every penny they receive for LFS, and then some.
Of which a lot of money goes to marketing, paychecks, licenses, nice offices, managers, company cars, etc.
LFS is in no way comparable to that, it´s an indie developed game. Stop trying to want to push LFS in the same direction as it simply will not happen.
IMO LFS isn´t about getting as many people in as possible, it´s about getting in people who really love racesims. Quality instead of quantity if you will. There´s no need for tons of people who usually only play games like NFSU and come flooding the forum with NFSU like feature requests. We have too many of them already.
There´s no need for fast cars in the demo. If demoracers get bored of slow cars they should get a license, the whole purpose of the demo being there in the first place. If people don´t get excited by LFS with the democars, then those people aren´t meant to play LFS.
LFS is a niche product and it will stay that way.
Because little things have to be done too. And once more, what you consider unimportant may be important to others. And how do you know how much time Scawen has to put in any feature/change/fix/bug/whatever ?
You can't handle the truth!
Ah ofcourse, the famous "you're all fanboys" comeback. Come on, a little more creativity!
People have to yell if someone isn't able to hear at normal volume.
Advice: read that old thread again. But this time very slowly.
How about you start worrying when you actually need to and accidentally unlocked LFS twice? In all my time of playing LFS I have never ever needed an extra unlock (besides the extra one the devs have to give after a new patch for instance).
I do make an effort most of the time, but you wouldn't know that since you've been here for 5 days (right?)
Some people just seem to be immune to reasoning, so maybe a different approach is needed. I actually started writing a more comprehensive motivation but I chose not to finish it, as I thought it would be useless and OT anyway.
In any case, the way I choose to express myself on any occasion is my own decision and responsibility. As long as I don't violate any rules of course or deliberately hurt/offend anyone. If anyone feels offended about anything I said, you know how to pm me/notify a mod. So there's really no need to notify me that you don't care for my choice of words, as I simply don't care about that.
No offense, just my opinion.
