Quote from scurrg :14 cars racing in this shot

Actually 15 -- look at the top right, coming out of the turn.

Quote from farcar :Is it just me, or is the driver model a little out of proportion?

Well, the MX5 is quite a small car, and he is wearing a radar installation on his head, so I think it looks about right.

I think I would regress to childhood and ask for a race-prepped Falcon XB around Bathurst.

Edit: some of these answers are very interesting -- are we supposed to be adjusting for the likelihood of getting killed in our chosen combo, or is it a complete fantasy question?

+1, this or something very similar would be great.

Tristan and Dan, I take it you've watched BTCC races recently? Not saying those guys are models of good racing etiquette (much the opposite) but it is a real-life UK series in which a ton of contact occurs and seems by many to be regarded as all part of the action. So it doesn't seem fair to suggest that NASCAR is the only exception to a general motorsports principle that hitting other cars is bad.

Quote from Hyperactive :Are these the same guys driving in the vid who say that LFS online racing is filled with idiots?

Honestly, I'd ban 90% of those drivers, simply because..., well do I need to tell why? Hmm, it is just a shame that those great cars are used in such a mediocre piece of game...

Yes, it's a revealing video. Most of them seem to think they're playing a first-person shooter.

Quote from xWolFx : If anyone wants something to do with space flight then:http://www.orbitersim.com It takes a while to figure out the buttons and has no sound but physics are good and gameplay is realistic.

Thanks for the pointer. What an amazing bit of free software. Oh, and there is a sound add-on that works nicely.

Quote from Ramses :I have a whole bunch of pictures of that track including the tracksurface and the rather awkward entrance to the track but it's all copyrighted
Magazine (from 1984) was allready on the scanner.

Surely small versions of a couple of pictures could be justified as fair use? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use for some discussion.

Quote from tristancliffe :In my mind you'd be better off deleting your last post as it makes you look spiteful and childish...

Maybe so, but if we applied that standard to the forums generally they'd be a very quiet place.

Quote from JSturdy :could it be a virus protector etc. working overdrive??

I would vote for this theory. What anti-virus and firewall stuff do you run? Some Norton monstrosity? Can you try turning it down and/or off for a bit? (I know, I know, be careful.)

I think Jason was suggesting that Tilke might be able to get some ideas from Eric, because all his circuits are boring and samey.

Thanks Kev -- I don't know where I'd be without you.

Anyone else get the feeling that we are going to be seeing a lot of Vettel on podiums over the next ten years?

Anybody know whether Hermann Tilke has an LFS licence? Perhaps we could get some movement in the other direction...

I used to try to get better on the XRR, but after being out-accelerated by FZRs too many times I have gone over to the other side. I think the XRR is a nice car, but the only way to get a balanced race with it is to race other XRRs at the moment.

Oops, just realized you were talking about getting outpaced by an FXR. My bad. That does seem strange.

Quote from 510N3D : nice track but its not the perfect oval imho. Tally or Dega is what we need...

So which do you want, Tally or Dega? Tough choice!

Quote from xaotik :That's something I tell people who say "oh poor animals" and then eat a steak. My theory is that if you want to eat meat then you HAVE to kill and "clean" atleast one animal in your lifetime - if you still have the stomach for it then you've earned it.

+1.

The moral vegetarian has a good case. The aware meat-eater also has a good case. The I-don't-want-to-think-about-it-just-give-me-my-burger people do not have a good case.

Quote from al heeley :Personally I'd like to see Trabant racing big scale round the K-ring. 100 of them all fighting abreast at close to 56 miles an hour. That would make for some spectacular wipeouts!

Quote from Hallen :You can say a lot of things about the AI, but they don't carry a grudge and they don't start cursing at you

Yes, but maybe after Scawen has worked on them, they'll start doing these things.

Quote :However, Eldanor is right, you can race online anytime, with little planning. People are not going to be offended if you pop in for one race and then leave.

I agree completely. OP, I wonder what you really mean by saying that you "don't have the time" to race online? I wonder if maybe you're just being shy -- you don't have to be anywhere near a perfect driver to enjoy an online race. As long as you apologize for your mistakes and compete in good faith, people will be happy to have you on any server. And if your style is slow and steady, you may find that you get some podiums anyway due to more aggressive people bumping each other into the gravel traps.

Or are you a perfectionist maybe? You don't want to go online until your times are at world record level?

Quote from Vain :45° however isn't optimal either because the view of the car's side is limited then. This should just be adjustable via the GUI.

Quote from Tweaker :America's Army just came out with a newer version, and tons of new features. I was kind of excited because I wanted to try something new (play the old one from time to time).... but the new one is just crap, and they've honestly gone downhill.

Plus I heard that if you do really well at it, a black helicopter descends over your house and you are spirited away to participate in various Middle Eastern conflicts...
