I disagree. Microsoft will loose even more if they put out crap. If they don't sell the new OSs it is as though people had just switched to Linux. Even though people might still use XP, Microsoft wont make any money since they don't sell XP anymore, only overstock. Not only that but people would probably never buy Microsoft's future OSs.
The people that haven't bought windows vista because of what they heard instead of what they experienced will buy 7 because it will/has received mostly good reviews.
Those who know about vista's follies will get windows 7 if Microsoft, which they most likely wont, don't make the same mistakes and put out annoying system pop-ups and alow permisions to administrator accounts. Why they put any restrictions on default Administrator is beyond me.
The big problem Microsoft has with Vista is corporate purchases. Noone wants to downgrade their system just because it's new, especially when the current one works with all its downfalls. Corporations are where the money is for Microsoft. A lot people pirate corporate versions and those people wouldn't even pirate Vista.
That 99% of the market is the only market. Since the ones with cracked versions don't count as "market" (me before I bought XP). The rest are non-potential sales that would have made more money if they had purchased.
Stumbling upon cracked corporate versions of OS's, Isn't it convenient? I've always thought it was.
However, by purchasing anything, you are telling the creators they are doing something right and should continue, for example: buying LFS.
That is also true in the opposite sense. In purchasing something you are also telling the creators what it is they can get away with and are able to continue (usually something detrimental), for example: the hypothetical mass-purchase of windows vista.
So, by not purchasing something, you are telling the creators there is something wrong. And creating incentive to improve, for example: the reality of windows vista.
That is the reason why software companies don't like making new, better products. People like me and you are ruining the software industry for every body else that do things legitimately.
On/T
Windows 7 is sounding better and better as more reviews come in. It will be a definite buy for me, especially if it runs LFS better and among other things as well.
On the contrary to the argument that one might mistake pedals. A competent driver won't easily make the mistake of confusing pedals. If the person driving is not competent, then they should probably not be on the race track at all.
Especially when left foot braking in cars with out a clutch less shift mechanism, its hard to confuse the pedals because the driver has to constantly switch pedals.
Also, for cars that use clutch less shift, knowing the position of the pedals in what ever car that is currently being driven is second nature in competent drivers. It's like knowing where your mouth is when you put a cup to your face to drink, or a fork when you eat. On that note, switching back to a regular manual car is not a problem for competent drivers.
The death part is a bit unnecessary, but the screen blackout on 'X'G impact (with an added auto spectate after 'X' amount of time) is actually a pretty good idea, maybe it will keep people from crashing continuously.
As long as you pay for the internet provided by your ISP then using the inter-webs on the PS3 is completely free.
And lol at typing with the controller!
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the best game for the PS3 IMO. The naughty dog team put together the perfect combination of story and game play into that little package. Some people complain because its not an open world, but it is that linear story that makes playing the game feel like it's a movie.
EDIT: Next year, I believe, Fall 2009 they are releasing a sequel, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The trailers are really interesting BTW.
I had also thought the e-brake just used the rear brake system. It surprises me that a car with rear disks would also have a separate drum as well.
On another note, in my car with rear disks, I've pressed in the brake pedal then pulled the hand brake and felt a pressure difference through my foot (the pedal pushed back).
From that I assumed that the cable was connected to the rear brake.
Humidity may be a factor in tires filled with ambient air, however tires are sometimes filled with pre-compressed nitrogen. The point of using nitrogen instead of ambient air is to do away with the trace gasses and moisture, but I'm not sure whether it is pure or not or if there is moisture in the compression process.
Actually i the individual gears were adjusted, however the cars were unable to reach peak RPM even down the longest straight in 4th gear with the gearing of the cars chosen(RX7,CRX), so I mucked with those a bit just for drive ability.
The subject of grip being too low in LFS came up in a conversation the other day, so, in defense of the point that the reason LFS "seems" to not have enough grip, because of the setups, these setups were born. These setups emulate cars that would be "fresh off the lot" stock, however slightly adjusted to in order suite the performance of the XFG and XRG.
The main cause of excess wheel spin is close final drive ratio. If the ratio is closer to 1 the wheels will spin faster but have less torque. It the ratio is father from 1 wheels will spin slower but have more torque. The final drive ratios of both cars have are similar to real life cars.
